I was very happy to listened to both of you as my younger daughter is also in Canada for the past two to three years and still she is in two minds whether she wants to continue her life there or to come back to Srilanka. She has a permanent job within her line of education. What she says is anytime she could loose her job as it's running out with donations. It's more or less like an NGO. In the education field. But as both of you said she is also feeling not having the freedom, friends and people whom she would have had in Srilanka. But my idea is it's not the right time to come back to Srilanka as our country is not doing good and almost it's ruined. Definitely she can live here with what we have. Just living is not a good thing for a young person. When you are young you must face difficulties, hurdles, consequences and come out of those things with good results. Otherwise if you just eat, drink and live. What a boring life is that. If you don't have the capacity then it's ok. But having everything in hand I think she should stay back and try for the best. Some of her good friends also have gone there now. She is in touch with them. Sometimes she doesn't agree with me if I tell her to continue her life in Canada. I pray for the best to happen for her. For me, nothing like sri lanka. I work in qatar as I am a tool specialist in oil and gas. I was offered a job in Canada but I didn't like as I had to work in Alberta which is very cold. I love sri lanka my country and my wife hates to migrate. We enjoy sri lanka every holiday.

One common theme I hear from Canadian immigrants for the last 3 decades it was easier before now it's hard. One thing I can say about Canada is that it's a land of opportunity. If you get one opportunity in Sri Lanka, you will get 100 opportunities in Canada. If you're willing to take a chance, not be afraid to take a risk, anytime is a good time to come to Canada. If it's about mental stress or missing sri lanka, it's nothing compared to a few decades ago. Those days long distance calls were so expensive, if you could afford to talk to Sri Lanka for half an hour for a week you were lucky.

Since you are advising people who are planning to move there I thought I should shed my 2 cents.
I hope you both knew you migrated to a capitalist hybrid economy. I am clueless why you are complaining about the variable hours? It is what is. You want more perform better. Still not enough hours move to other pastures. No one cares and should not care about your hours or your well-being. It's on you.
Capitalist or capitalist-hybrid means everything is money if anything not money you are in the wrong country.
The biggest problem I see is you are trying to equalize SL thinking to the world's 10th largest economy. Trust me no one cares and no one should.
The most important advise I can give is THINK different. Leave everything that you know and built in a lock box to open when you are 65.
You both mentioned "jobs" like 258 times. Why on earth would someone leave their homeland to just do a job? Job is a stepping stone to a carrier or entrepreneurship. If one is constantly worried about jobs might as well not migrate.
Don't migrate for a better life migrate for better lifestyle. They are 2 different things.
You guys are lucky in Canada there is some government help. Me from USA and we pay for everything. I mean everything. I would pay it 100× over. Trust me I started way below you started but my goal was not ever to do a job.
It's not the money it's the concept.
The next most important thing is try to do things on your own. You can have SL friends after 15 years from the time you move there. Less SL influence faster you succeed. This is not against people but the mindset. No one has to ask anyone, use Google or Google translate. Best curated scam free advise anyone can ever wish for.
Also about scams, if someone gets caught to a scam the sad truth that person is not as smart as the scammer. People talk about scammers like they are evil people but always forget to mention, they were a little bit smarter than me. It's ok to get caught, everyone does one way or the other. It might be your car loan guy, mortgage banker, scammer from Indian same same. All in a days work. You live, learn, proceed.
I could not state this any louder. Think different to succeed. Think different and everything will fall into the right place at the right time.

Economically there is nothing to argue the best would be the US. No, it's not a statement about the best life it's a statement of the number of opportunities per dollar. What you make of it is one's own. I don't think we have to debate about the world's economic superpowers.
Yes, I watched the entire video, what you said was pretty clear. I do get your point but I think you are misconstrued about my POV. My 2 cents was to pass on the concept along. I highly doubt anyone can guide anyone on how to succeed here on Earth or Mars. If that were the case we would not talking about income disparity.
Yes, I came here a long time ago when there was no Google, no RUclips, no self-help, and NO SL friends to get advice from or anyone. Yep there was Yahoo search on a flip phone via a WAP site. The point is if you understand the mechanism of the country these systems are made to work for you, not the other way around.
