- Fire Emblem is back! And this year, it's leaving the classrooms of Three Houses behind. Here is everything you need to know about Fire Emblem Engage.
#Gaming #FireEmblemEngage #Nintendo
In Fire Emblem Engage, 1000 years have passed since the four kingdoms cooperated with each other and with heroes from other worlds (aka from other Fire Emblem games) to seal away the Fell Dragon on the continent of Elyos. As the evil prepares to reawaken, you emerge as Alear the Divine Dragon, a chosen hero who can bring back the heroes from other realms and seal the chaos dragon again.
Like other Fire Emblem games, Engage will be a turn-based tactical combat game with a wide array of original characters that you can upgrade and customize to your liking. Your time is split between the tactical tile-based combat and a hub area where you can interact with other characters. In Engage, this non-combat section is a floating fortress called the Somniel, but hold that thought, we’ll come back to the Somniel soon. First, let's dive into combat.
Fans of traditional Fire Emblem games rejoice, Engage is bringing back the Weapon Triangle, a rock-paper-scissors mechanic of weapon advantages that was altered in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Swords beat axes, axes beat spears, and spears beat swords. Taking advantage of the weapon triangle inflicts break, which prevents the defending unit from countering in that skirmish. Weapons outside of the triangle such as bows, daggers, and spell tomes are weak to physical attacks.Fire Emblem Engage also does away with weapon durability. Once you find or purchase a weapon, it’s yours to keep. This change could mean less time managing a unit's inventory, and more time battling enemies and chatting up comrades.
I'm so hyped for Engage I started a 2nd Three Houses playthrough, and just yesterday started my Revelation playthrough in Fates. That game is way better than I remember. The cheesy story is rather endearing to me now. And the gameplay is just superb. I miss the 3DS era Fire Emblem games. Pair up mechanic was so cool
I have a 400 plus hours save of 3 houses..... I have played through every house several times .......
@@willrobinson9767 I've got 700hrs myself
@@nelsonw9483 My copy of the game got stolen and I had to start over.....
@@willrobinson9767 The save file is stored in the cartridge?
@@nelsonw9483 on switch there is an option to backup data to the cloud and not every game supports this function. But if you don’t back it up manually you will have to start over
My favorites were Awakening and Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn. When it comes to the latter, I really want another game that takes place in that world but in the continent that includes Hatari and reveals things we didn't know. By the way, I know in Tellius they say only that continent survied the great flood but that doesn't mean it was true.
Awakening is the best fire emblem IMO, the final mission where you have to fight all the champions at once was amazing
Radiant Dawn was by far a favorite...
The many different stories and armies and back stories you learn along the way, it was a masterpiece. I hope for another grand scale game like it soon. Over 50 chapters of back and forth and new enemies and shocking allies. Replay was highest for me. It is my favorite and Awakening being a second for sure due to you can/will meet your children and in a way, it is their story that you are living as they are fighting for a future where their parents are lost and they fight to prevent it. Way too emotional, but I loved it.
I watched my parents play FE Radiant Dawn, I still find random papers with shopping lists of weapons etc for each character. It sparked my love for the game series. As soon as I was old enough to, I played RD religiously, getting stuck, restarting a dozen times to get through a battle without killing anyone, have some great memories (and pray that Nintendo re-release both PoR and RD), then Awakening was the game i really fell in love with, and have completed it on multiple occasions. For me, no other FE game has come close to these two (tho I did love Three houses, just can't replay it, because i cant bare to go against the other leaders haha).
Dropping the Weapon Durability is awesome! That was such a nuisance in older games!
They did this in Fates too, but in its place came horrific weapon debuffs that made some weapons straight up unusable. But yeah I can see how it gets annoying
Really? Aight Imma go preorder then
weapon durability is a mega piece of classic FE strategy. Why am i gonna have a mage when i can just keep a fighter with a hammer. TBH that change has me on the fence about buying it and FE is my favorite game franchise
@@Douwantapotato I'm with you, it's part of the drama of combat. Kinda one of the weak areas of Three Houses too was being able to rewind turns (don't hate me I love Three Houses), just making it a little easier is meh
The writing for Three Houses was superb. I spent hundreds of hours and was still finding nuance to the character's stories. I'm skeptical that they can hit that level again, but I'm never not going to be excited for a new game
it definitely won't have that much towards the characters in this game. three houses was a different type of take on the franchise where they tried a different take on the formula, that being said it wont be bland on their stories like other fire emblems have been.
@@Tasspyboi I think the best comparison I can make in terms of character development is something along the lines of awakening. Not in the way of pairing them up for having babies but with support in that form.
@@Tasspyboi last year three hopes was fine but I feel like the story need more time in the oven engage will be somewhere in between a limbo I get the sense the voice acting is going to be horrid just like an armored core verdict day
3houses school stuff was just so tiring though... dropped the game
I loved the school stuff lol
Fire Emblem and Zelda make this an amazing year for gaming already.
Everything else is a plus.
Tales of Symphony in February...
Fire Emblem Engage and Octopath Traveler 2 for my part
My thoughts exactly
Pikmin 4 also!
My favorites are fates and awakening. The school got annoying in 3 houses after the first playthrough. I made it through golden deer and black eagles but I have not finished the blue lions yet because of the school. I still loved the game and I can't wait to play engage
Fates and awakening are goated also my faves
Has no one confirmed whether the S Rank/marriage system is back yet? Really missed that from the Awakening styled games, and as far as I've seen from reviews there's been no solid confirmation or denial of it.
I want a fire emblem game where u can practice polygamy
Can't wait for Fire Emblem engage. The new engage function is a really interesting twist on the formula.
This game really feels like the complete opposite of Three Houses. Where Three Houses made up for in story, world building and characters, fell short in terms of gameplay and visuals. Engage looks very good gameplay wise and the visuals look much better. The plot and world building seems like it'll fall flat. Hopefully it makes up for it in its characters.
It's gotta be Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken for me. I hope Lyn is in Engage as a summon
Already confirmed that she is, one of the first ones revealed in fact.
She is
@@Yunglex313 sweet, thanks!
I gotta admit, after being pampered by Kurahana Chinatsu's artstyle (she's the character designer for Three Houses), this feels like a step down.
That and the game being less focused on story/world-building, I will probably pick this up after it's discounted.
Radiant dawn was the best by far. You couldn’t grind away the challenge. Simple get good game with incredible stories
Path of Radiance was a close second. I really like how the Tellius games encouraged fast and efficient play with the bonus experience rewards. That's one thing I really wish they would bring back.
Glad to see even Nintendo is doing day 1 paid DLC. Was afraid they were going to be left behind.
Is there any online element like in predecessor?
oh hy another queytion about the weapons, since there is no weapon durabilties like in fates do the weapons have special effects too ( lke like rapider and nall this other weapons who are stong agasint certain clasees) in fates bronze weapons could not do crits or activate abilities, steel weapons did not allowed you to use follow attack and silver weapons even decreased your states for one turn after you used them, since you have more infos then me do you known if this effects come back in a way?
Fire emblem just doesn't have the same feeling anymore the games lately all feel like fire emblem warriors lack of character customization no longer being able to have kids constant return of old characters from past games it's getting old wish we would get something new added
So no romance options?
Would be a late game feature and most previewers aren't talking about anything past chapter 8.
So you CAN have the Emblem Rings on any party member, despite the fact every video shown so far seems to have the same ones all the time?
For example, Marth doesn't HAVE to be on Alear and whoever you give his Ring to also has the transformation?
Yes.
Yes, you can. Every emblem ring can be used by any character and every character can talk to any emblem if your bond level gets high enough.
Yes, each class type even has unique bonuses depending on which emblem they equip, and every character even transforms into a new look based on the emblem.
This looks good , best graphics I've seen on switch in years too
No, my dude. The ONE thing we need to know is whether using those engage rings ang bringing back those old characters (which could be a game-breaker) is optional.
Very vibrant and colorful, i like three houses ary direction better
Not at all a fan of the weapon triangle. This is a huge step backwards when we were finally making progress
I really think the character design of this main character looks hideous imo.
three houses was not challenging at all. I hope this game will present a challenge
I wish you could play as the old characters rather than these dumb looking characters.
I hope to see Tharja I love her, and lucina as well...I need this GAME NOW!!! can not wait until friday
people really enjoyed mid three houses huh?
I'm gonna wait five years for the next Fire Emblem game to come out
It’ll be two years and it’ll probably be a remake
I thought 3 houses looked pretty lame, and seeing some peoples input I decided to skip that game among a few between. First game was Radiant Dawn, then Awakening, Fates, Heroes (meh), Echoes, and now looking forward to this one.
I would strongly recommend FE7 on GBA as well if you like no-nonsense tactical gameplay, no "casual mode," and no level grinding (no repeatable battles, limited experience).
It's an intensive, engaging game, and the battle animations display some incredibly awesome and diverse sprite animations.
Three houses is the weakest FE game I have played and not really worth playing IMO
Toothpaste main character design is the worse of seen from this franchise. Almost as bad as XenoBlade 3 designs.
Colgate 😂
The worst looking protagonist of any game.
@@coolboialex hear! Hear!
Xenoblade 3 or 2?
You haven't played Xenoblade then when 2's designs were criticized but 3's were considered a return to form...
It was a minor annoyance to me, but I am glad weapon durability is going away in this game.
Sacred stones my last game going to engage, wish me luck 😂
The engage mechanic looks wack, it's just a gimmick for nostalgic players.
It's a gimmick for an anniversary game, Engage is meant to be one.
It's a gimmick for new players- nostalgic players are the ones who used to complain that pair up made Fateswakening too easy. The only thing that's going to resonate with the people you're talking about is the inclusion of Sigurd and Lief.
The waffle house has found it's new host
The waffle house has found it’s new host
what about s rank supports for alear only why can nobody anwser this question, all teh infos you gaved us in this videos are known already you are a bit late with this infos
cuz they know it isnt there, any confirmation of its non existence will drive the pre order sale down and they know it
@@treekid7455 i saw a vidoes where someone had some new infos form a gamer swho already has teh game and this gamer said romance is in the game but not like in fates or awakening but more like three houses so that would mean tgat alear can maybe have s rank supports becuase this gamer sdid not said that there is no romance in the game
IS THERE A MARRIAGE OPTION....YESSSSS OR NOOOO?
“I’m sorry little one” (From what I heard there’s none even S rank isn’t there but I’m not sure how true it is)
We don't have full details but so far looks like no
@@Pizzarollguy-MHF2569 gotta wait till someone can play the full copy early. everyone who has it currently, is only able to play up to a certain point.
I’m ready to play this game soon
I've been way too hyped for this game.. just a few more days!!
I've never played a Fire Emblem game, but I'm thinking of playing this one.
Play 3 houses that is one of the best games ever.........
Do it. Engage is marketing itself as a game for beginners.
@@nuibaba280 That doesn't mean it will be a bad game.. .....
@@willrobinson9767 It won't be. Just means Engage will be a good place to start for new players.
This one should be good.
Admittingly, Three Houses has been my first and only Fire Emblem experience, but I have LOVED it. Can't wait to play a new addition to the franchise
I really do hate the hair and eyes :/
Favorite FE game has been Radiant Dawn. Awesome story. Played it like 10 times even though it was so long game.. Glad to see Micaiah and Ike back.. at least as emblems
seeing how casual FE is getting made me go back to Path of Radiance
Is there romance in this one like in three houses?
I still think Sacred Stones is my favorite game. Not because it's especially good, but it was the first I played to the franchise and I've beaten it so many times.
Mine before this would have to be SOV
Sacred Stones is great.
The audacity in these comments hating on 3 houses 😂 that game blew Fire emblem's popularity up and the only reason many like me are here and we have a right to be mad if you can't marry certain characters
Fire Emblem is a strategy game first, not a marriage simulator...
@@GreatAether58 Yes? That's what Three Houses was too? There was literally one romance scene in the whole game.
@@rachelle10 my point is not including that won't ruin the game.
@@GreatAether58 Yes, but including it also doesn't. And there are plenty of parts that they could leave out, that doesn't mean they should. One of the things I love is that there are so many things to do, even if I don't love all of them.
To be fair the same thing happened with Awakening, it brought a bunch of new people to the series but they don’t necessarily carry all mechanics between the games. For example I couldn’t enjoy 3H as much as I want my overpowered kids back 😂
DID I SEE A FISHING MINIGAME? S-tier game automatically
Tokyo mirage sessions DLC?
Even in mainline FEH, we can't escape gatcha.
I didn't know the girl from the Yu-gi-oh card, beyond the pendulum, was in this game! That's so cool
Day 1 DLC shameless
Initially I was worried this game was just going to be a ton of fan service, but it seems like enough attention was paid to the combat. I'm hoping this can really provide a challenge!
bringing back every single character back as cameos isn't a ton of fan service?
@@Douwantapotato it is - I thought that they were ONLY going to do that. I'm happy I can just focus on the combat.
Still cant remove "Sky Striker Mobilize - ENGAGE" from my mind when staring at the Fire Emblem Engage title.
I will have it on Friday ......
2025年4月、ファイアーエムブレムエンゲージ2の発売を希望します🎉🎉🎉
This game looks so dope! Cannot wait!
My favorites are awakening and echoes
Based tastes.
you release the 1st DLC on the same date as the game?! why not including that content directly in the game... this is like selling a bottle but paying extra for the water...
Because DLC is made separately from the base game. The base game had its own budget and development time, the DLC was made much later.
@@nuibaba280 its greed fixed it for you
I would normally call it greed but this game's production was done just before the beginning of the pandemic started. They likely spent the remaining 2 years polishing the game and working on DLC, so what looks like an easy cash grab could also have been planned for a later release originally, and Nintendo said they wanted launch DLC, so provided. Could be wrong and this was always the plan for the pipe line, but meh.
One thing that worries me is that none of the previews so far mentioned them enjoying the plot and characters.
If the journalists only got a limited time to play, they probably rushed through without getting the chance to see much. There is no way to trully tell if the game is good until release
They only got to talk about the first 8 chapters to be fair
Every preview says the focus is on combat now and less on story telling. Maybe chapter 9 and above changes everything but it's doubtful. It sounds like the devs listened to the minority that complained about the long story in 3H so this entry took a big hit in that department. Thanks FE fans.
@@tonymcneill7779 Good. I rather the story take a backseat to the gameplay and combat anyhow, especially since the designs don’t make the characters look very appealing to begin with. Three houses was a good game, but I think many people don’t realize that it was an outlier in its structure. Most of the titles in the franchise aren’t as heavyhanded in their story elements.
My two favourite FE games are blazing blade and awakening, hopefully engage reaches those heights again. I have to say this one looks absolutely ludicrous in some ways which is off putting
Radiant Dawn is my favorite, followed closely by Path of Radiance. After that maybe Three Houses...but I'm not sure. We will see where Engage lands on my list...
My favorite FE game was Echoes
Guess I won't be getting the game if there is no romance
Don’t care what anybody says, I’m super excited for FE Engage tomorrow! Spend $90 on it, comes with the expansion pass
So no romance I'm guessing
The only thing you should know is to avoid these videos before you play the game.
I hate games with expansion passes introduced before the game even releases.
Awakening, Fates, Echoes and even Three Houses ALL had day 1 DLC.
That's because... I know this is shocking... that piece of DLC in particular is coming on the same day as the main game.
Super excited for this!
Beware the Evil Purple Flame Man!
(EPFM)
Awesome Fire Emblem Engage Everything To Know Video.
Quick question. At around the 3:13 mark. You show the skills you can learn from marths ring. Alear has Marths ring on and you inherit sword agility 1. Is that skill tied to the ring or to alear? In other words if i take that ring off alear would she still have sword agility 1 or would the person who wears Marths ring next have sword agility 1?
Won’t be buying the DLC until a new story opens up in it. If it’s just like dlc 1 il skip it
Have Fire Emblem Engage romance (s rank)?
I'm gonna be honest, the only FE game that I played was Three Houses, but it immediately became one of my favorite games of all time
I don't mind this game and I'll watch the playthrough but I'm not buying
So this game U can’t pair your units only the ring.
This will probably be my personal game of the year
I’m gonna give Jean the edelgard/Dimitri/ Claude bracelet, so he levels up faster (since it gives exp faster) and he’s the villager character so he may be annoying to level up lol
Flashback to ya boy Donnel
@@AlexanderLingg literally 😂😂
@@zelda574 yeah they are so fckin annoying at first after the first 10 levels though😅
I wonder if the tiki ring stacks with the unique ability jean has.
@@barcster2003 I hope so (I think it will because if it doesn’t it will be a bit weird especially since we are paying extra for it lol ) 😂
My question is. The only fire emblem game I have played was sacred stones. Picking this up and playing it, can I still follow along as a sole independent story or do I have to play 3 houses and such to understand what's going on?
Don’t believe three houses and engage are related at all so you should be able to just play. Fire emblem is much like final fantasy in that while games do in a sense, share the same universe/world they are usually completely separate stories that have nothing to do with other storylines.
@terrathewise2383 ok thanks then in that case I'm definitely looking forward to this on friday
tacdigal
Does anyone have an idea of how heavy the social parts of the game will impact the combat? I am a fan of the older FE games but I couldn't get into three houses because of how many chores there were between the combat sections.
As someone who followed the Japanese marketing. It's not impactful at all. The stat boosts you get from minigames are not only small but temporary to boot. You can get the same results just by buying tonics or battling a random paralogue/skirmish.
It's probably like typical fire emblem. Supposedly the chores between combat are cut down significantly.
Yeah based on all the marketing, the amount of running around the hub map has been reduced since it dragged a lot in 3 houses.
Day 1 DLC 😒 I really hate that
Every single FE game since Awakening has had it, yes even Three Houses.
@@shinobus.2654 cool. I still hate it. For every game. It’s a bs way to make people pay for content that should just be in the game.
@@brianwilliams446 It was made after Engage was finished. The main development budget went into everything except the DLC, the DLC's a separate thing.
People that complain about day 1 DLC prob the same people that buy “deluxe”version of games
Awakening and Three Houses are top tier.
That Fire emblem engage looks amazing game adn would be switch best graphic's ever. I've never wasn't interested playing fire emblem games but bow i am because switch fire embles looks and sounds very awesome, graphics anime style Looks amazing, music IS beautiful and I like characters design. I've never played DS and 3ds Fire emblem games But maybe now. 🔥🔥
Thanks for the video. I can't wait to play it this weekend.
But why do you always say "The Somniel" ? It's a place, we don't say "Other activities at the Washigton" or "Inside the New York" ( Sorry it really bothered me >< )
We need a sequel to League of Legends.
We already do, it’s called Genshin Impact
Next month Tales of Symphonia. Now a new fire emblem and new Zelda game! I can play my switch again!
All the Three Houses fans seething in here is hilarious, they truly can't accept that 3H's era is coming to a close. Good riddance.
lol
Don't worry, it's coming back after this one.
Was in last month's issue of Famitsu.
The school stuff killed that game
Best selling fire emblem game and won People's game of the year back in 2019, cry some more.
As someone who has been playing this series for years and had gotten away from the internet for much of the game's existence, the pre-release of the game is the first time I had heard there was so much discourse amongst returning players about Three Houses. Looking back I guess I could see it in that the school stuff dragged a little, but I felt like it was the return to form the series needed after the 3DS games. I, of course, didn't care for the stories of Awakening and Fates and felt like Echoes didn't have the war drama vibe that the series was known for.
So if classrooms are gone, how do you level up your characters skills? (I've only played FE3H)
By using the said weapon in battle. The gauge will increase faster than that of Three houses of course.
@Dave Korus Yeah this is how 👍. As cool as classroom leveling was I feel it made the game too easy. Leveling them up the classic way is grindy but feels more rewarding.
Do you mean the weapon ranks? You can only increase them by promoting. Each class has a set weapon rank, and some promoted classes don't even go up to S.
@Some Guy oh yeah my bad you're right. But I still like that in Engage you get to level up ranks on your own rather than clicking a button for xp.
You just use them in battle like the previous 11 games.
Oh..
Genshin Impact 2?
No lol
Oh no, Genshin impact invented anime
I'm checking this video out because I got a friend who's real excited about this game, but it's everything I hate.
What do you hate about it?
@@tomdaturtle5792 Everything, like, it literally offers the opposite experience of the kind that I enjoy.
Now don't get me wrong, it does looks pretty well made if it's your kind of game. Just like I don't care for Doom (2016) at all, for instance but I can still tell it's a really good game, just not for me.
I don't like turn based combat, at all, for one. Combat that works the best for me, for instance would be Sekiro or Metal Gear Revengeance. Generally speaking, the combat I'd enjoy would be the kind I'd enjoy seeing in a movie/show/anime.
I don't like movement and animations that feels MMO'ish when just walking around, for reference games that I love partly for how the character moves around are RDR2, Dark Souls, Death Stranding, games where the character moves like they're bound by the same laws of physics as that of the real world.
I like animes art style in animes, I don't care for them in games.
I would be excited for this one if 80% of the characters didn't look like flashy 🤡from "Colgate Circus"
why does the sypnosis looks sooooo generic ugh
Ok
Fire Emblem finally has black characters now!!!!!!! This is a day one buy!!! 🥹🥹🥹
