READ THIS BEFORE MAKING! :) Microwave times vary - I know in the video it may have said 40 seconds (can't seem to change it), but if yours is not cooked by then, try 1.5-2 minutes!! Just use a toothpick to see if it's done, and only eat it once the batter isn't wet anymore
The Baking Bomb I tried to put it in the microwave for longer, but it still turned out very spongy and didn’t have any taste what so ever. Even if it cooked through, it would’ve tasted very bland.
I’m 11 years old and I stay home alone most weekends, so this is an awesome recipe for me because baking is one of my passions, thank you so much for making this Edit: I’m 12 now and I still make it!!!
if you guys don’t have milk just put a little bit more flour , if you don’t have flour use pancake mix , it gives the same result , I made this with pancake mix and no milk , tasted amazing
To keep your mug cake from being a rubbery sponge, I recommend substituting the self-rising flour with all-purpose flour, and adding a tablespoon of canola oil to the mix. Hope this helps!
If there are people out there that don't have vinila extract you can add more shuger depending on how sweet you want it. You can also put a banana slice ontop of the cake😀
I tried it! But replaced the butter with oil, Also replaced the self raising flour with normal one and powdered vanilla, some baking powder and the rest of the recipe! Absolutely worth it!!.
I tried this out and loved it. I am a gluten free person and it is really hard to find recipes that are easy and yummy. I added gluten free flour and it was amazing. It was a little spongey but was really yummy. My friend isn’t gluten free and hates all gluten free food. She tried the cake and loved it. Thank you so much for making this video.
I attempted to make this and the batter did not cook within 40 seconds but took 1 minute and a half. However it did taste quite good but needed a little more sugar xo
i made this yesterday and it was the first mug cake that actually worked!! it was so good. Finally a recipe that doesn’t have 500 ingredients. Thank Youuuu !!
I made this!! i used all purpose flour tho, so i put a few pinches of salt and baking powder in the batter :) turned out great! a little chewy/spongy but really not much. I microwaved mine for 1 minute, took it out to check it then 30 more seconds. i put some dulche de leche and sprinkled over it after i flipped it out onto a small plate! works perfectly- glad i used this recipe to make my first mug cake! though, i do believe i left some pieces of the parchment paper from the butter in the batter lol. Not too big of a deal tho! Thank you for the recipe!!
Hi everyone! Pinning this comment to try answer most of the common questions / common feedback I get on the mug cake. My cake is too spongy and rubbery: Sometimes this is because the batter is either over-mixed, or the cake has been cooked for too long in the microwave. To fix this (not promising it will work all the time), try not to over-mix the cake. Another subscriber recommended to substitute self-rising flour with all purpose flour and a tbsp of canola oil, haven't tried this out but they said it does work to prevent it from being a rubbery sponge! Also, ensure you don't overcook the cake - you can do this by checking every 30s or so using a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean with just a few crumbs, it is cooked. You should also note that mug cakes don't resemble typical fluffy, moist cake texture as it is cooked in the microwave - so just a disclaimer! My cake is too eggy: This sometimes depends on the size of your eggs! I used 1 medium sized egg in this recipe, but if your eggs are slightly larger it might have a small effect on the overall cake. Make sure you flavour it well with vanilla extract (you can add more if you want), to ensure you taste more vanilla rather than "egg". My cake is raw! Again, this depends on your microwave settings. It may be different from the one I was using (don't remember the specific measurements). But what you can do is ensure you check every 30s using a toothpick to see if the cake is done. Do not eat it if the batter inside is gooey and not cooked - you need to ensure it is fully cooked as this recipe has eggs in it. My cake overflows in the microwave - what do I do? This happened to me as well! What I did was keep a careful eye on the cakes in the microwave - everytime I saw them growing larger, I would open the microwave, let it settle down, then continue cooking it. It usually helps! Also, ensure you don't fill your mug too much - around halfway is fine, especially if you are using self-rising flour. Can I omit the vanilla? Yes you can - but it will be quite flavourless.
Omg I just saw it and without losing time I baked it and it came out so good instead of whipping cream I added chocolate chips....too good!! Guys just try this recipe it's much easier 😍😍
thank you!! i felt like having cake at 2 AM and found this video, and it turned out amazing! i followed the recipe mostly but made some small changes, like adding in some brown sugar and adding one mushed banana. it turned out really nice!!
Guys, this is an honest opinion: I was just surfing on RUclips for a good and easy mug cake recipe. Then, I came along this recipe and thought that it would be good because it looked like it and I also had every ingredient that this recipe contains. After I made it, it turned out to be very undercooked and spongy (not in a good way) and I tried to cook it properly by putting it into the microwave for longer, but all it did was make the “cake” hotter and didn’t cook through. I definitely don’t recommend and if you want to make a mug cake, you might as well make cupcakes, cakes or something else but just to let you know, proper cakes can not be cooked in a microwave!!!
I put mine in for 2 mins checking it every 10 seconds and it turned out great yhx for the recipe also 1 table spoon of oil works (i used sunflower oil and it worked)
I've just tried this. I added choc chips and separated the mixture into those little glass Gu pots. I was very surprised how it turned out. Really pleased. I won't be buying sponge puddings anymore. I had mine with custard and loved it. So thank you very much for this.
It turned out delicious although I didn't have the self raising flour so I did the 6 tbs plain flour and 1 tsbs baking powder and it took 3 minutes to fully cook in a microwave it all depends if the microwave strength on how long it will take to cook

My egg has two yolks 😂. I also did double and turned it into a real cake but I cooked it in the microwave and I’m here for the second time to make cupcakes
For the one who is reading this, i used all purpose flour with a litle bit salt and NO baking power. It came out a bit les spongy but still soooo amazing. I have tried many different mug cake recipe but this is my fav so far!!
I tried this. It is soooo good. It is easy to make even for a beginner like me (who can’t use an oven). I got stubborn and changed some measures (less sugar more flour) so it was slightly hard, but that’s my fault. I’ll do it again soon following the measurements! It still tastes soooo good! I also added nutella 🍫 Advice: Make self-raising flour using all purpose flour (the amount mentioned in the video; 6 tbsp) and add 1/4 tsp baking powder, that’s what I did. If you see any negative comments, I’ll say how to fix them. 1) Too hard and stiff = Try adding less flour, or cooking it for a shorter time. Not all microwaves have the same power, so cooking time should vary. As reference, I think the creator said their microwave was 800w. 2) Too bland = more vanilla extract or sugar 3) Too raw = Cook it more Love your vids! I highly recommend this and ignore all the negative comments, because they usually did something wrong and that is not the creator’s fault. 💜

This was literally a giant pancake that rose out of the mug in the microwave. It didn’t even taste that great :// I pulled it out of the mug and it kept its shape completely and I’m not sure that cake is supposed to do that

This recipe is absolutely stunning!! It is delicious. Instead of the self rising flour, I added all purpose flour (considering I don have any self rising flour). The mug cake is delicious either way.
I also tried this....tastes good...but a bit hard it was....my purpose was to give to my kid...one way happy for not adding baking powder n soda....so satisfied with the hardness....any way thank you....
Yes it takes good. but as the other comment will show. Baking takes practice. it's easy to mess up a cake and at such a small scale the measurements are probably more precise.
I died laughing when I took mine out of the microwave and saw it had turned into a literal rod of rubber. It may not be a mug cake anymore, but after sort-of cooling it it works as the perfect fetching toy for my dog.

That sounds so good! I did recently film a chocolate mug cake recipe as well so stay tuned for that! :)
Btw if you like sponge bobs demented spirit. create this masterpiece.
Sure thing
I’ve made this two times already in two day I LOVE it
so glad you liked it!
The Baking Bomb before you heat it up it tased exactly like cake mix
Didn't come out well wasn't even able to eat it had to throw the whole thing out . I'm disappointed
Tysm!! I only had one tbsp of vannila but it was still absolutely delicious
Glad you liked it!!
Great Video!
What do you edit on?- I loved the font!;)
thank you so much! i use imovie :)
The Baking Bomb Cool, on a mac 🖥?
Everything Edible Me too!😂
yep i edit on my mac! I imported fonts into my imovie so that's why i can use different ones :)
The Baking Bomb okay cool 😎! Thank you 😊
I’ve just tried this as both my fiancé and I fancied a quick treat but had nothing readily available.
This was great. Really quick and tasty.
Great to hear that!
It works 😁😍💗🤪
this is the best microwavable cake ive had it was so good and i put chocolate buttons in it aswell to add more flavour and it was amazing
Sounds great!
Mine delish tho I used a bit more sugar😂
This recipe is absolutely stunning!! It is delicious. Instead of the self rising flour, I added all purpose flour (considering I don have any self rising flour). The mug cake is delicious either way.
so glad that you like it!!
Part 1: Terrible
Second time shouldn’t be bad
Part 2: Even worse
Nope it was just as bad...
I’m 2 years late but I tried this and it tasted so gud 🤍 instead of whipped cream I used ice cream and it tasted amazing tysm for the recipe!!💕🥳
So glad you liked the recipe! Ice cream sounds delicious
Will all purpose flour work it’s all I got
you can use all purpose flour and a tiny bit of baking powder!
i have become the CEO of mug cakes this quarantine and i must say that this recipe is the best one i tried so far, i'll be repeating
I'm glad you like it!
The Baking Bomb
Hadir Kak....
Salam Kompak Selalu.....
I also tried this....tastes good...but a bit hard it was....my purpose was to give to my kid...one way happy for not adding baking powder n soda....so satisfied with the hardness....any way thank you....
Wait.....does this taste good? Looks can be deceiving..
Fatimah Abubakkar i tried it and it tasted ok but the batter was so weirdly spongey and dense
I did as well, and mines matches your description. The weird thing is....it became like a friggin rock -__-
Fatimah Abubakkar I tried to make it but it came out not so good
Yes it takes good. but as the other comment will show. Baking takes practice. it's easy to mess up a cake and at such a small scale the measurements are probably more precise.
It does but the it wasn't that sweet. Double the sugar to 4 tbsp and it will b better
I died laughing when I took mine out of the microwave and saw it had turned into a literal rod of rubber. It may not be a mug cake anymore, but after sort-of cooling it it works as the perfect fetching toy for my dog.
DONOT TRY THIS RECIPE IT TASTES LIKE WET SPONGE I SWEAR
Mine did but I added more sugar and flour. It tastes fine lmao
ThisGayfuckingCactus COLORBRAS idk about yours but mine was legit sponge
@@aleehaamjad3478 yeah I guess. Mine was too but I guess the person who made this video is a professional or something? Idk it's weird 😂
ThisGayfuckingCactus COLORBRAS yeah its weird
JUST TRIED IT! It tastes quite nice but would recommend putting in more sugar and vanilla
Thanks for the tip!
This is the best recipe i have tried on cake mugs I recommend 12/10
this is the first mug cake that actually taste like a cake! awesome!!
