- Korean R&B sensation DEAN sits down with our editor Johnny Au exclusively at SXSW 2016 in Austin, Texas. As one of Korea's rising music artists, DEAN has already collaborated with some of the biggest names in K-Pop and R&B. DEAN was in SXSW to perform at the K-Pop Night Out showcase and our editor Johnny chats to him about his SXSW experience, working with western R&B artists Eric Bellinger, Jeff Bernet & Anderson Paak and what's in store for 2016. i love how he understood the questions in english and comfortably answered in korean since its comfy for him thats so cute lol
they cut to a MV scene or just made a cut in the film after each English question so I am thinking after each question there was a translator for Dean and then they'd cut back to his answer.
***** i think i read somewhere that he doesnt need one because he understands english fully but i know he isnt very confident in speaking in english because he thinks it wont sound good lol hes so adorable. but he understand english and speaks very well too actually but hes so shy

I love how Dean's sound is so universal and I like the fact that he doesn't try to focus on making a korean sound for his korean fans and another sound for international fans. Good music is just good music no need to box it up and process it.
Why are there some people complaining because he spoke in Korean? He is Korean hence he spoke in Korean. Many people mistake him for being American bc he sings it so fluently, but he has said before that he is not confident in English... After all, he was born, raised and lives in Korea. He can answer exactly how he wants to without having to worry about a limited vocabulary. Why not respect that instead of complaining because you have to read subtitles?

he did another interview in English on another channel recently but his answers were really short, i guess his answers would be really limited if he were to do it in English, so I'm kinda glad he spoke in Korean this time round! :D really got to know much more about him thank you!

He has this lovely, soft speaking voice and his tiny smiles are super cute. I don't care what language it's in, his voice is just so gorgeous and so is everything else about him.
DEAN reminds me of my cousin, they both speak good English but because it isnt their first language, they think that they will slip and speak gibberish. He just needs confidence 😊
Dean understands English but he can't fluently speak it. So it's better that he spoke in Korean or else people will misinterpret him.

I m so tired of reading subtitle n I was expecting him speaking in English sigh! If he can sing n write English song why did he chose to speak in Korean ESP when it's interviewed in Eng n when it's outside Korea ~|~
We gave DEAN the option of answering in Korean. He was more comfortable answering our questions this way which we totally understand. We prefer to get an insightful answer from an artist rather than a misinterpreted English reply.
