Not sure if you’ll get this message, but I just wanted to let you know what this challenge did for me. I was just finishing up the challenge and had a PT test sprung up on me, zero time to run. I killed the PT test and ran my mile and a half in 12:06 at 43 years of age. This challenge has put me in the third best shape of my life. Thank you!
your approach and your practice of really considering folks' life priorities, given your expertise, is humbling. i've been warm-faced and had tears forming while listening to fitness advice, but you did with that story about picking up your daughters. hope we'll hear the same story, as you're picking up grown grandkids in your 80s or 90s. i came here for thoughts as i was considering revisiting the Challenge and left with more gratitude than i started with. stay well, John.
Always Superb humility, authenticity and Bigger Picture of Life . Keep up the good work Dan👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😜🙏Spirit be with you
In 2023 for the month of october, I did 31,000 swings. I can say my posture, strength endurance, and so much more was benefited for that month. For 24 I will be purchasing two 32 kg looking forward to seeing what happens.
I did 10k swings challenge for the first time during Covid when all i had was a kettlebell. I heard dan say one time he does it every January and started doing it too, thanks a lot dan!
25 yrs ago I was a strongman competitor locally and province wide🇨🇦. 600lb DL, 500lb Back squat, 315OHS Much of my training was based on your protocols. I was and remain a huge fan of your 10,000 swings. I was never as strong as many of the other competitors but I had much better conditioning. Largely in part to your training. 🙏
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach I think what I’m most proud of is that I stayed clean throughout. Rarely did I finish out of the top 3. Eventually I couldn’t stay clean and competitive 🇨🇦
I’ve crooked my back and it takes about 2 hours currently to be able to move without veins popping out the side of my neck. I can however get away with swings and running. So I’m revisiting the 10,000 swing challenge. This will be my 4th time going through this. I had amazing success using the ascending reps, descending weight pyramid. I did 40kg x10 32kg x15 25kg x25 (yeah I own 25kg kettlebells) 20kg x50 I found this approach stopped the utter grip death I was experiencing with just the 25kg for all the reps. I own a 24kg now also so I might do the original protocol.
I finished this for the first time a few weeks back. I recently added a 32kg bell to my collection, so i started out with that. Big mistake. I was not prepared for that. I managed to get through the first 1000 and then decided to switch to my next avalive size down, the 24kg. I did the 4000 with that and felt stronger as i went, so i made the decision to do the last 5000 with 32kg and i found it much more manageable. Since then i feel and look way stronger and all other KB movements have improved. I did tweek the workout sightly to 4 sets of 25 for 5 rounds but next time i will do the 10 15 25 50
I found, personally, that home training requires more performance metrics than just steps and PRs to stay motivated, so I look to improve sprints, heavy hands times, standing jumps, and basic throws (overhead etc). I try to treat my training like I'm an athlete, and that documentary really helps inspire me to train. @@DanJohnStrengthCoach
Hi Dan, love the show, is there a program for clean and press challenge? Much like the 10k swing challenge but for clean and press? I find that high rep swings bother my neck but clean and press feel good, wud u consider doing half the volume so maybe a 5k clean and press challenge over a month?
I’m not aware of a 10,000 clean and press program but Geoff Neuperts “The Giant” is a clean and press program that can be ran for 20 weeks. Hope that helps.
Hey John. Is there any opportunity to send you an email? I read and finished your book “easy strength” and have a question about “Victor’s” training routine. :)
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach Thanks für the tip! I knew a guy who train exactly like victor with one 24kg kettlebell and two clubs. It looks like a Greek god. But have no contact with this guy anymore. And when I read the story about victor and had goose bumps because I thought it was him! But a find nothing about maffetone with reference to kettlebell training and bodyweight training. Do you have more information for me please? :)
I did the 10000 swing challenge for two months and I was so strong in many other random exercises. Change was definately noticeable.
That’s fantastic. Thanks for letting me know.

Thank you for sharing this...it's so simple, but it seems to help.
CORRECTION! Mile and a half in 12:06
I do it at the start of every year with a 70 pound bell. A good start for the year.
Fantastic

I like this very much
I live in utah also... kettle bells and calisthenics to me as a grappler and kickboxing is way to go. And carries over to most life movements
Thanks for letting me know you live close. It’s a great combination.
I want to keep picking up my kids when i am 66 too! I am 39 and my kids are 3 and 6!
I have a picture of this on my Instagram account
Gonna follow you on insta too coach! Thank you!

The 32 is serious business. I’m not sure how your technique looks, but if you’re doing them correctly, that’s a lot of work.
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach I've definitely improved technique over the 10000💪
Has Dan seen "The Soul Is Greater Than The World", a documentary about Ricky Bruch, the Swedish discus thrower?
Honestly, I had the VHS of it, the DVD...I've seen it a lot. I use it constantly. John Powell was a very good friend of mine.

Thinking with the double kbs
I don’t know of one, but we could certainly put it together

What’s he recommended KG for males for this challenge? Thanks! Great stuff
24kg is the standard. The first time I did it with 16kg, I still got a lot out of it.
Yup
What you find challenging but doable without injury.
If you're new to kettlebells get two bells. You'll graduate to the heavy one pretty quick, but starting out heavy can be rough.
My son is 6’2” - not picking up
I thought I answered this. It’s a fun tradition.

Is his routine more like upper lower body or does he do full body only routine? Any suggestion what I can read about his strength training? :)
