    Extremely good BCR check, one of the best if not the best I'm ever seen. Couple of points, bearing in mind you've taken half hour to do your checks and driver's are not given half hour to do theirs. For instance, Stagecoach London give you 15 minutes to sign on, get you paper work, sign a module on, locate a bus and do check's and leave the garage on time, quite impossible, would you not agree. Few things you missed, (1) cab window button locks, are they there and do the lock and open. (2) you can't check tyres for tread damage in dark mornings without a torch, does Metroline supply torches to their drivers?. (3) I don't recall you checking if the wipers had screen wash. (4) Upper rear marker light, on BCR card, yes....But you could have said to make it clear to other drivers, if your doing a BCR check first thing and it's pitch black and the light is out, you would need the bulb replaced, I would not be happy taking a bus out if one of my upper most lights are out. VOSA have been known to report drivers for that.... (5) You mentioned where the emergency engine off button is, but how do you know if it works?.....(6) When looking at the pedels for such items as bottles or tins that could impede the pedels workings, you must also check to see if the rubber is present on the throttle pedal. The rubber on the throttle pedal can come off quite easy exposing a metal pedal if they have not been pop-riveted on, BCR card it then go get a engineer to fit one before leaving the garage, make sure the engineer signed if off on your BCR card...

      @liquidbadger06 Give drivers some credit. All the drivers i know, come in earlier than their sign on, on their own personal time to ensure it is done properly.

    • @millomweb

      Didn't check screen wash, gear box or engine oil levels. Checked coolant level - it was low but ignored that. What was the button in the rear off-side small flap ? Wondered if that was engine stop !
      Didn't check upper window for opening from the outside either.
      Should have checked vehicle main controls - steering & pedals for 'full and free' movement - bit of a bugger if the accelerator doesn't come back up from flat out !
      Should have checked engine stop from driver's seat.
      Laugh at the idea of checking for air leaks while the engine's running !

    • @kd84afc
      @kd84afc 4 года назад +1

      @@millomweb gear box or engine oil levels. drivers don't check them, That's all down to the engineers. As a driver, you be lucky to you have 10 mins in the morning to check a bus and get it out for the first run!

    • @millomweb
      @millomweb 4 года назад

      @@kd84afc It's probably a better way of working - a driver drives and does nothing else - it's up to the company to provide buses fit for purpose in the morning. Only upto the driver to report issues discovered during driving. But yeah, companies will demand more for less of their employees.
      I was on the 'engineer's side' but not buses, cherry-pickers. Apart from maintenance, it was 'pre-delivery' inspections - and I was thorough !

    • @kd84afc
      @kd84afc 4 года назад

      @@millomweb Coolant levels can be checked by a indicator on the outside of newer buses, literally a press of a button and weather the light turns green or not then a driver will tell the engineers to top it up if needed, but engine oil level is down the engineers. I did have check book given to me by a arriva, a little booklet that that as over 40 items a driver has to check if he or she is the first driver in the mornings, if we're taking over a bus and if you're a second or third person then generally we just look for any new damage and make sure the wheel chair ramp is working but other then that a full check isn't required then.
      But a first usage check, I admit many drivers don't do this perfectly but that's down to how much time they're given in the mornings. Some duties give you less then 10 mins to do a check before you have to leave the garage, you're constantly rushing to get it done and this video the instructor had 30 mins!
