Hi Eric, firstly I would like to say thank you for the free training courses you have provided.I am a bricklayer by trade and have recently completed my cert 4 in project management and have also partnered into a moulder building company. One of the things I like about my new venture is the in house plans we provide, so this is why I got the archicad program. have been using it for 4 days now and with out your videos I would be lost. I am really learning alot from your tutorials so cheers mate.
I figured out a way to show top of wall labels on foundation plans without manually entering them. I know this question gets asked a lot on other forms. It entails creating a top down 3D document view. Using the dimension tool (ridge line setting, triangle pointing down at line) Then you explode those elements and paste them into the 2D foundation plan view. Changed my life.
Hi! Eric though I am just a civil contractor and very much interested in Architect work, I eagerly watched your video's first lesson on Archicad, hope it helps me to familiarized with Archicad. Provided I’ll go through more of your videos on Archicad in short while. Thank you again for this priceless services provided by you,. MANOHAR DEVASEER
Eric, this is a brilliant set of videos you have done, congratulations. it makes it possible to bring a whole new generation of architectural students into ArchiCAD.
Similar situations with the others. I'm moving onto Archicad from AutoCad, and I found these wonderful tutorial videos. I can't wait to watch all your videos. Thanks in advance.
I'm a student and only two exams away from my last course where I want to take advantage of this promising program. Thank you a lot for this tutorial series, I'm going to do a studying-marathon next month with your videos!^^ Greetings from Italy and keep on the good work!
Hey Eric thanks for the videos they are awesome I am just 14 years old and I really enjoy ArchiCAD its my ticket to a good life thanks alot for the videos right now I have several invites into some universities even though I am just 14 this is crazy thanks again for the videos
This Quickstart Tutorial Guide (along with those on Mr. Bobrow's website) is exponentially better than the Graphisoft tutorials. Mr. Bobrow does a terrific job explaining the software and putting it through its paces via practical demonstration. The pace is ideal for a beginner, and he often demonstrates how to accomplish a task on both the US and International versions of the software. This is by far the best beginner's guide to Archicad that I have managed to find on RUclips or anywhere else. That said, the tutorial IS outdated. While many say "There isn't that much difference between versions 15 (the version used throughout most of this tutorial) and 20 (the current version as of this writing), I disagree emphatically. The discrepancies between the libraries (and parts) alone makes it very difficult to emulate many of these lessons, regardless of whether you're using the International or US version of Archicad 20. Additionally, the behavior of the Navigator is very different in version 20 than in 15 (discrepancies in file tree structure, default settings and feature toggles, nomenclature, etc.). I found myself having to pause the videos numerous times just to try to find the correct parameters inside virtually all of the tool settings in order to follow along and make the correct changes, because they are simply not in the same places as they are in these tutorials. Modules 6 and 7 in the Quickstart Tutorial Series were extremely challenging due to actions in the project map not cloning to the view map automatically. Had I not had the assistance of a local professional CAD designer who uses Archicad everyday, I would have never made it through the Quickstart Tutorial Series simply because of the differences in versions 15 and 20, because 100% of my issues stemmed from those discrepancies and inconsistencies.Again, this is a phenomenal tutorial series, and it's almost certainly the best one out there, but it definitely needs to be updated.
This video is so great. Can you help me to know if is there English subtitle or Vietnamese in your Quick Start Course DVD, please? Thank you very much.
In march of this year I'll begin to study architecture. I'm really into these type of software where you can create and design... Do you think I'll be able to learn how to use this a bit if I download it now?
Thank you very much for this. Very nice teacher. I have a question : Do you explain about scale somewhere? Maybe in an other video but I didn't find it... I need to import a plan (dwg) but the scale is not good... How to change it? Thanks
Eric, I have got the sloped roof on my building thus sloping the wall however I Can't work out the correct angle so that my wall is say 3 metres high at one end and 5 at the other end do you know how I could make that happen? Because I change the wall heights and obviously the roof No longer sits on top, how would I sort that? To almost crop the roof to the walls? Because I Can't work out the correct angle that the roof would need to slope. Thanks
At 5:27 you have a floor plan - but how does that get there? I need a REALLY basic instruction like 'how to draw a line' before I need to understand ANYTHING else. Is there a video that starts there?
Thank You for you're video :) very useful, but i would like to know how i can put the labels to doors and windows.could you please help me? thank you :)
Thank you very much for this very useful online free course. You do not have idea how it is helping me! Just a question! Is it possible to have this sample file? Thanks again :)
Great videos these are however i downloaded the free trail of archicad and its slightly different. Went and asked a question on the archicad forum and got banned :( Wanting to get the hang of it before i purchase it. Any tips on where to get the best downlaod as same as this . Ive been wanting to do this type of work for years.
Hey Eric, quick question, I went to make some working drawings, elevations etc for school assessment, I dimensioned them however when I put it on the paper the dimensions weren't there, and the dimension drawing tool was greyed out. Do you know how I can have dimensions shown on the paper?
How can built foundation through of complex profile manager and I would like to know what is the difference among complex profile/ profile manager and option/Element attributes/ profile manager?
Hey I was just wondering if there is a way to have a sloped wall? So it's say 3 metres at one end but then gradually rises to 4 metres at the end of the wall? On archi cad16, thanks :)
Thank you very much Eric, as I am new learner of ArchiCAD I have problem with shortcut which I could not solve for a while, it is not all the shortcuts working with me, as example Ctrl + Z is not working, when I press Ctrl it is always showing a scissors icon, keys like shift or alt or numbers are working but anything relate to letters or other shortcuts not working!! it is very strange problem which I could not find solution for it in the network and it makes ArchiCAD kind of difficult to me!
Eric, I find your lessons fantastic. But on you tube I cannot locate all the modules or some times previous lessons and then subsequent ones??? What am I missing here. Do you have a central location for all the lessons?
thanks my teacher and next I love you because you helped me to be complete architectural engineer now I am a student in somalia And was cont my learning so can you help me to show a hight rise buildings thanks so much
Hello Eric, All ready long time I folow your tutorials, they help a lot. Since yesterday my keybord settings have changed to qwerty (only in ArchiCad) I have no idea how it comes in cant find a way to change it to azerty again Its frustrating especialy with shortcuts as ctrl+z, Can you help me out please? (ps the windows shortcut alt+shift dont work in this case)
Eric, thank you for your quick answer, azerty is indeed a keybord config in France and Belgium(Flanders). There are no options in the Work Environment becourse ArchiCad config itself with your used system. Since a few hours ago the program works normal again,I supposed it happened with a automatic update (Windows or AC). Thanks for your (wasted) time.
Hi, I have completed drawing my floor plan with all the section ref in place. Now I want to put all my drawings into a sheet of my own. I would like to create a sheet and to place all drawings in each. Kindly need your assistance
Hi eric, thank you for sharing your knowledge in archicad.🙂 Archicad made our life easier but some commands or if we cant execute what we want, it drives us crazy. Anyway, how do I break or cut a multi/poly wall (1 group)? Thank you!
Hi FX - It sounds like you're referring to a group of walls created at the same time (using either the box method or the polywall option), which will automatically be grouped (if autogroup is turned on). You can work with any of these walls individually (stretch, change settings, delete, etc.) by using the Suspend Groups option (found in the Edit menu > Groups > Suspend Groups command OR use the convenient toolbar button to toggle this off or on). When groups are suspended, you can select these items individually (as if they are not part of a group), however when you re-activate groups (by turning off Suspend Groups) they will still be associated as a group, and can be selected and moved essentially as a unit. I hope this is clear, let me know if you need further explanation. - Eric
