Heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking how these men and women were treated after serving there country.

Even if they did terrible things, it’s not like they happily did it. If you don’t feel anything for what you have done, it doesn’t make you human. These men deserve a welcome home after everything they have been through and all the traumas that will be stuck with them for the rest of their natural lives.

My husband served 2 tours in Viet Nam and another 18 years full time in the Indiana National Guard, he passed away in 2012, I wish he could have seen this. I miss him terribly but know I will see him again in Heaven. May God bless all of our Vets..

This is awesome and thank you veterans for your service!, this is long overdue. Sadly about 2 years ago My Family lost our Uncle William Del Carmen, who served 5 tours in Vietnam. He had 3 purple hearts, served 3 tours in the U.S Army came home Then after being discharged from the Army joined The U.S Marine Corp., then did 2 more tours before they decided he should go home. Well he wasn't done there. He faithfully served 27 years in the corp before retiring a Mstr Gunnery Sgt. He never really talked about the war or how badly he was treated after. The war finally killed him, as he died of cancer. I , we will never forget him, I only wish he could have gotten the welcome home he deserved.

I was drafted into the Marines in December 1969. I came from a farm but many of my friends came from our small towns. When I got home the older men couldn't' do enough for us. Not only were we brothers in arms to them but they also remembered us as little boys who they watched grow up.

I wasn’t in the Army…(Marines)…but I like these videos. And when the “Welcome Home” signs came out, so did the tears. But I was lucky in Nam, being stationed on an air base, Chu Lai 68-69 1st MAW MAG 12 and luckier coming home. Landing in San Francisco in the earlier morning hours, hardly anyone was there. Then landing in Love Field, it was crowded but no one paid any attention to me, even though I was in my uniform. But the VERY BEST was when I got home and mom greeted at the door. Even now, from ‘69 to ‘23, it still makes me cry. Had my dad not passed in my mid teens, he would have been so proud, being a WW2 Marine. WELCOME HOME to all my Nam Vet Brothers and Sisters.

As Americans, you guys should be very proud of your Veterans, we in South Africa never got that recognition when we came back from the Bush War and I think many of us who were in South-West Africa (now Namibia) longed for some sort of Veteran's Day however, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN HERE !

I always make time to thank a Vietnam veteran when I see them and welcome them home. They saw hell and were treated like garbage by their countrymen and their government with many of them becoming homeless due to mental illness that was ignored by the VA and by the Govt. They deserve to be recognized and appreciated for what they did for America and fighting communism. I might be a late Millineal/proto Gen Z but I want them to know that I admire what they did and am disgusted by how the hippies treated them.

They couldn't figure it out at first when I would greet em with a Welcome Home at my IHOP restaurant. And often times they'd go on about their business but sometimes I'd get a "do what?" And I tell em again and tell em I make sure no one gets spit on ever again.

US Army 1965 to 67. First time I heard "Welcome Home" was 2007 from my good friend Sam who was president of the local VVA chapter. Told him I didn't go anywhere excepts Fort Polk, Louisiina. Said it didn't matter, you went where they told you and did what you had to do. You were away. WelCome Home! Ment a lot to me then and still does now. HOORAH! Our cause was just.

RA 18961463 - my enlisted military ID. 1967-1970, Nam 1968-1969, TET Offensive, SGT., Purple Heart.
Got home in 1970 to boos, catcalls, pelted with rotten fruit @ a parade in Seattle. Telling folks I was a Vet was NOT a good way to get a date. At that time, I thought that all deserters who went to Canada to avoid the war should be lined up and shot. As time went on, I came to realize what those fellas sacrificed in leaving their families and the country they loved to honor their principles. It was huge. And it wasn't the "Hippies" exclusively that treated us so badly...it was society in general. It was many years (now 74 y.o.) before mentioning my military status during that time. My 47 y.0. daughter just learned of my service and Purple Heart just 2 months ago. But time goes on. We adjust. We survive. We didn't do it for accolades, we did it because we love our country and want to keep us free. I fear for our grandchildren who face tremendous pressure to keep us free in the face of Maggots and authoritative politicians.

War is ugly. Innocent people are part of the war unfortunately. Nobody called WW2 vets killers. They bombed entire cities to rubble killing thousands in one swift mission. But they're still heroes. Although I would have sided with Germany, I still recognize they are all heroes who did a job they were sent to do. I have extreme admiration for the Wehrmacht, SS, Waffen-SS, Luftwaffe, kreigsmarines, and the HJ. I still admire the men who fought them.
