I don't know of a book as I like to do my own research, but to quickly sum it up: it comes mainly form a Celtic background and calender but with adjustments (made with the development of Wicca) - personally I celebrate the holidays in my culture (historically Celtic influenced) that correspond. I have a pretty deep story with Forget-me-nots, Nefelejts (means the same thing) in Hungarian. Last year, when my Hungarian grandma passed away, we were in the middle of the first lockdown here in France. My mother called us to give us the heartbreaking news about my grandma. I was on my way out to buy something when I got the call. So after we hung up, I still went out, but being shaken by the sad news, I took a different route to the shop than I usually did. As I was walking, still taking the news in, I stumbled on a little area of plants randomly growing out of the side of a building. They were Forget-me-nots. The sight of this immediatly took me back at least 25 years in the past to my grandma's garden and I clearly remembered her voice telling me "See those little blue flowers, my dear ? They are called Nefelejts." I collected some of them and took them home. The funeral took place a few days later. Obviously, because of the lockdown, I couldn't physically be there. My mother tried to stay connected to a Zoom meeting so that I and others from the family would be able to e-attend the ceremony, but she couldn't get a good enough cellservice at the cemetery. So she texted us to keep us posted about the different stages of the ceremony as they were happening. So when I recieved the text that they were putting the casket into the earth, I went outside to my building's garden (that I am absolutely not allowed to go to, but I never respect that rule because it is rude, stupid and absurd) and I had the flowers on a pretty little plate and I blew on them while thinking about my grandma, the love we shared and all I am grateful to her for (my knowledge of the English language is of those things). They flew off in the breese and gently settled in the grass. It was a very powerful moment for me, and one that gave me some closure. As I see it, that's what magic is. Finding meaning and creating beauty, even in the difficult times. Forget-me-nots are some of my favorite flowers and they always cheer me up when I come across them. I am sorry for your loss... I believe some angels come to give us messages even though they can't stay with us as long as we wish they would. I hope magic, nature and your practice help you to find solace. From this video I get the impression that you've got this. I wish you and your loved ones the very best.

Love, love, love your video! Forest bathing is my Saturday morning ritual! I also call it a Medicine walk which is a little different. With these, I quiet my mind, walk and stay attentive to everything. I take a mental note or a pic of the plants and animals I connect with most. Then, when I get home, I research the spiritual significance of those beings to provide a narrative of guidance for the coming week. It’s always profound. 💚
You are such an inspiration to me. I’m 39 and just coming into my spirituality…and it truly feels like coming home to watch you do the things that I’ve always subconsciously known were right and good for me, but never allowed myself to form conscious thought to bc of the taboo and judgement I was afraid of. I wasn't "foraging" per se, however I came home from walking my dog to corner store for a pk of cigs and I came home with a fully intact dead dragonfly( currently in a jar to preserve as much as possible) and 7 feathers from a local songbird that are scarlet red. Spellwork components found in Nature. Gotta love it. I can see a river where I live from my bedroom window. So finding feathers is not so unusual , but not usually from songbirds.

I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of buying all the things because of all the pretty stuff we see on social media, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I think you’ve done a good job so far showing that with all the things you’ve made yourself out of found objects, but more tips will be super helpful, especially for new people.

my neighbour has her lawn clipped to an inch of its life. My husband has to do her lawn for her. she removes any and all leaf litter daily. She'll lean over my fence and look at my 30cm long grass, meter tall weeds and leaf litter in the grass and comments. I just say, yep, I don't do lawns. I want to cover the grass around my garden with wood chips, My chickens clip the lawn, the fertilise it, they till it and remove pests. She was in my yard this evening, commenting on the wild flowers in bloom and the dozens of bumble bees busy getting nectar. I also have these large beautiful yellow flowers and I turned to her and said, all these are weeds, but look how happy these bees are and how beautiful the weeds actually are. I have a large fairy ring of yellow fly agaric and my lilac has witch hat mushrooms growing amongst them. I feel wonderful looking at the magic growing in my garden.
I love that you let your garden be wild! Hihihi I have a neighbor like that too on the one side - I am certain they trim the edges of the lawn with nail clippers to make sure everything looks orderly 😄 on the other side is the most beautiful wild garden with a mis of colorful flowes and the lady often gives me plants which is so sweet. When you let nature be nature such beautiful things can happen ✨
@@Thewitchescookery we try to let nature do its thing. We have to remove some trees that pose hazards, I have an ash that's on a 45° angle over my garage/barn - I need it removed because that's a danger to my hens. We also had about8 young trees topped by the power company because of power line interaction. I felt bad for the trees, and explained them that their wood will go to use, by plugging with mushroom spawn or becoming posts in my garden. I felt really bad for a maple I had tapped in the spring. but I was thankful I got its syrup to enjoy. I try to attract wildlife to my yard, I've managed to befriend the crows - its a work in progress right now. I was so sad that a small olive green bird I had never seen before ran afoul with my front door. I picked it up and it passed in my hands, I went to my neighbour and was crying my eyes out. We have choke cherry trees, and I guess it reflected in the door. The wildest creature we've seen within 70 feet of our house is a fisher-cat. Type of large weasel, scary scream, and it concerns me even though my hens are in the barn, I worry it might find a way in. Then in the spring we hear spring Peeper frogs, and that in itself is magickal. We're new to Nova Scotia, so we are seeing things we've never seen before. Foraging for mushrooms and clams, trying our hand at tidal fishing looking at beaches for sand dollars, shells or seaweed to add to my compost. Or picking apples from wild trees to turn into "road cider" that we'll enjoy through the winter. This witch does a lot of brewing, wine, beer, fruit wines. My garden did not do as well, I lacked the composts due to the pandemic and its a young garden, and my compost bins were not ready in the spring. I expect next year it will grow very well. I have to wait two years at least for most of what I planted this year to be usable, berries, asparagus, rhubarb (which may have to be moved) and an apple tree. I have hops grown in pots, I want my small yard to be a fruitful paradise, not a green manicured wasteland. We are also exploring the possibility of having honey bees and setting up bee houses for bumbles. I want my own honey for mead and waxes for candles. I consider myself to be more or less the same kind of witch as you - but I'm more of a homesteader - not sure if that is cottage - I don't do much decorating. But boy to I make preserves, jams, pressure canned soups - wonderful winter stored goodness. Anyway, that was so long winded, my apologies - (also Canadian we apologise all the time).

My face hurts from smiling & laughing so much during your "French" cooking lesson -- that was some first-class French accent you used in ze captions, eh? :-) I'd also be a lot happier if I just had neighbors judging my garden... here in the US, most places have an H.O.A. - Home Owners' Association -- that rules with an iron fist, enacts and enforces all kinds of (often stupid and/or petty) rules, and has the legal right to assign debt to you -- or even take over your property -- if you break the rules about anything from how tall your grass is to what's planted in your garden to what paint you use on your house to even what curtains can be seen in the windows (the latter, thankfully, is not covered by HOA rules in my particular neighborhood). Having a more natural garden, much less a witchy garden, can be painfully difficult 'round these parts.... :-( Thanks again for a wonderful combination of great entertainment, good information, and tasty recipes!

I wasn't "foraging" per se, however I came home from walking my dog to corner store for a pk of cigs and I came home with a fully intact dead dragonfly( currently in a jar to preserve as much as possible) and 7 feathers from a local songbird that are scarlet red. Spellwork components found in Nature. Gotta love it.
I can see a river where I live from my bedroom window. So finding feathers is not so unusual , but not usually from songbirds.

I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of buying all the things because of all the pretty stuff we see on social media, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I think you’ve done a good job so far showing that with all the things you’ve made yourself out of found objects, but more tips will be super helpful, especially for new people.

This time of year in the state of Louisiana we're all running away from the forests and swamps to escape the intense heat and humidity and vicious mosquitos (the mosquito is the REAL state bird!), and into our homes where we can run our air conditioners full blast.😆 I love your tips and spells for dealing with the heavy energies of grief, loss and heartache. my neighbour has her lawn clipped to an inch of its life. My husband has to do her lawn for her. she removes any and all leaf litter daily. She'll lean over my fence and look at my 30cm long grass, meter tall weeds and leaf litter in the grass and comments. I just say, yep, I don't do lawns. I want to cover the grass around my garden with wood chips, My chickens clip the lawn, the fertilise it, they till it and remove pests. She was in my yard this evening, commenting on the wild flowers in bloom and the dozens of bumble bees busy getting nectar. I also have these large beautiful yellow flowers and I turned to her and said, all these are weeds, but look how happy these bees are and how beautiful the weeds actually are. I have a large fairy ring of yellow fly agaric and my lilac has witch hat mushrooms growing amongst them. I feel wonderful looking at the magic growing in my garden.
I love that you let your garden be wild! Hihihi I have a neighbor like that too on the one side - I am certain they trim the edges of the lawn with nail clippers to make sure everything looks orderly 😄 on the other side is the most beautiful wild garden with a mis of colorful flowes and the lady often gives me plants which is so sweet. When you let nature be nature such beautiful things can happen ✨
@@Thewitchescookery we try to let nature do its thing. We have to remove some trees that pose hazards, I have an ash that's on a 45° angle over my garage/barn - I need it removed because that's a danger to my hens. We also had about8 young trees topped by the power company because of power line interaction. I felt bad for the trees, and explained them that their wood will go to use, by plugging with mushroom spawn or becoming posts in my garden. I felt really bad for a maple I had tapped in the spring. but I was thankful I got its syrup to enjoy.
I try to attract wildlife to my yard, I've managed to befriend the crows - its a work in progress right now. I was so sad that a small olive green bird I had never seen before ran afoul with my front door. I picked it up and it passed in my hands, I went to my neighbour and was crying my eyes out. We have choke cherry trees, and I guess it reflected in the door.
The wildest creature we've seen within 70 feet of our house is a fisher-cat. Type of large weasel, scary scream, and it concerns me even though my hens are in the barn, I worry it might find a way in. Then in the spring we hear spring Peeper frogs, and that in itself is magickal.
We're new to Nova Scotia, so we are seeing things we've never seen before. Foraging for mushrooms and clams, trying our hand at tidal fishing looking at beaches for sand dollars, shells or seaweed to add to my compost. Or picking apples from wild trees to turn into "road cider" that we'll enjoy through the winter. This witch does a lot of brewing, wine, beer, fruit wines. My garden did not do as well, I lacked the composts due to the pandemic and its a young garden, and my compost bins were not ready in the spring. I expect next year it will grow very well.
I have to wait two years at least for most of what I planted this year to be usable, berries, asparagus, rhubarb (which may have to be moved) and an apple tree. I have hops grown in pots, I want my small yard to be a fruitful paradise, not a green manicured wasteland. We are also exploring the possibility of having honey bees and setting up bee houses for bumbles. I want my own honey for mead and waxes for candles.
I consider myself to be more or less the same kind of witch as you - but I'm more of a homesteader - not sure if that is cottage - I don't do much decorating. But boy to I make preserves, jams, pressure canned soups - wonderful winter stored goodness. Anyway, that was so long winded, my apologies - (also Canadian we apologise all the time).

My face hurts from smiling & laughing so much during your "French" cooking lesson -- that was some first-class French accent you used in ze captions, eh? :-) I'd also be a lot happier if I just had neighbors judging my garden... here in the US, most places have an H.O.A. - Home Owners' Association -- that rules with an iron fist, enacts and enforces all kinds of (often stupid and/or petty) rules, and has the legal right to assign debt to you -- or even take over your property -- if you break the rules about anything from how tall your grass is to what's planted in your garden to what paint you use on your house to even what curtains can be seen in the windows (the latter, thankfully, is not covered by HOA rules in my particular neighborhood). Having a more natural garden, much less a witchy garden, can be painfully difficult 'round these parts.... :-( Thanks again for a wonderful combination of great entertainment, good information, and tasty recipes!
