It was interesting to hear Esther Duflo's response to your question about the comparison of women's participation in the labor force between India and Bangladesh. India is expanding its industries in heavy machinery and technology, which are not very women-friendly. Bangladesh, on the other hand, has a thriving garment and textile sector that provides an accessible entry point for women into the labor force.
However, I agree with her general observation that education alone is not enough if societal attitudes remain unchanged. Applying her rationale to the recent ULB elections, even with the reservation imposed, Kohima Municipal's decision to elect two male candidates as Chairman and Deputy is a strong indicator of our society’s mentality. It’s surprising and disappointing that a woman MLA did not propose for a woman deputy. Purely a personal opinion but this was a missed opportunity to promote gender equality in leadership roles.

your comment should be deserving a lot more likes than it has right now. but we are also improving in Fashion, Cosmetics, Healthcare, Education and hell of a number of software domains. but it is interesting to acknowledge that current boost is male intensive sectors, Military complex's, Fab and Foundaries, Aquaculture, Mines, hard infrastructure, Heavy Machineries, Real Estate etc., but all these sectors can be designed in a way that can increase women share. Pharma, Marketing, Health care, Services, Teaching, Textiles, Human Resources, Agri Research etc., are currently changing its form and increasingly becoming women dominated. your voice are loud and clear, it is in your hands how you want to mold this.

Too early to expect much from our society to be gender inclusive. It's just a start, hopefully it'll take shape overtime.

We should all support Gender Equality 100%, but at the same time we should also not forget to put merit into the equation. Without merit our society even with 50\50 gender equality in all spheres would still regress.

E ain't t' only problem. E's part o' t' problem, same as yo & me. Naga public in general is t' problem. We vote for t' wrong folks and they get elected. There ain't no general awareness of t' background of who we vote for. Our decision's based on who t' family/clan/tribe decides to vote for, wi'out thinkin' about t' person's political virtues. Money trumps everythin' in Nagaland

if you allow let me comment as an outsider. any CM you elect he is not going to make any wonders in Nagaland. 1) it is not an open society maybe Dimapur. so external investment won't happen, 2) many northeasterners seems to be interested in sectors that focuses on going outside and work there. like Fashion, Services, Customer Executives. in return they will spend most of it in that particular place very little coming back to Nagaland. even PSU employees, Administrative officials, Academics, Military and Armed Police personnel etc., stay back in different parts of the country even in ripe age they spend more in their Children education, investments, bonds etc. again not in Nagaland. 3) if NSCN claims are true that it got 70,000 people working for them, then it is doomed for a state like Nagaland with 22+ Lakh population. no income generation but collecting tax from whoever earns a little. 1 in 4 people man that is depressing, and I know that is not true, and I hope that can't be proud for a Naga too. 4) Look east policy can be a game changer and BJP government seems to have made many strides into this until China poked in Myanmar and destabilized the country. comparatively our side of the border was safe and controlled, apart from misadventures in Manipur. this kind of violent perception of the region dissuades Policy makers and strategists in making wealth creating schemes in the region. though Imphal has huge potential it lost out to its internal hatred. this is what your MPs and representatives are facing but still they did far far better that Myanmar. but yeah, there should be always a solution we have to figure it out and politicians should be pushed for doing his best to the state.

As long as Rio is there only Kohima will be developed in every aspect because he see only kohima as capital and only district of Nagaland. kohima has become so expensive that people from other districts can't afford to travel and live in Kohima.
