The piece is a pavan called Dowland's Adew for Master Oliver Cromwell - P13 in the Poulton catalogue. The dedicatee is thought to be the uncle of the statesman of the same name.
Forgot to mention he also gave a beautiful performance of this pavan with bass viol accompaniment on his album "An Evening of Elizabethan Music". Highly recommended.
A hero of mine for over half my life, over 20 years and still amazes me. Rest in piece sir.
The Horowitz of guitar! The unmistakable unique sound of Julian Bream.
The ever lasting sound shall echo through eternity, the music and sound coming from either the lute or guitar is unmatched.
What a beautiful life Julian had to live. Rest in peace Maestro.
Grazie Maestro. Now you play "Up There", with Angels :-)🎵
Nice memory, rest in piece sir!
The Rembrandt of the Lute and Guitar.
