    Poor Jecki’s face in anger as she went for that last strike. A sad but truly important lesson about keeping your emotions in check.

      Jecki was a beast (totally going in no holds barred) while flowing from emotions I think she was also matching her Masters ferocity. The way she kept going in for the kill. Qimer had killed multiple Jedi. She knew he needed taken down, it was her time to fight like a Knight of legends she undoubtedly heard about. Had she not been blindsided by the shoto she may have fell into defensive position. Sol can definitely be proud of the way he trained his padawan.

    This analysis is refreshing. I know some RUclips creators don’t like The Acolyte and spend the majority of their time dunking on it. But it was nice to see you just analyze what’s happening on screen especially in such a long light saber fight in a previously untouched era of Star Wars (live action).

      @@jasonmast7769i seen my brother fuck up a few people pretty bad after getting punched in the face. Like someone would punch him once in the nose and id be like oh shit that guys gonna die, my bro discribed it as he would see like red tunnel vision and let every ounce of rage out on people like he would usually punch them in the throat and then the nose and then just rapidly right hand beat the dudes face in and blood would be flying everywhere and when dude would go down my bro would jump on him and just keep full force beating dudes face in and id usually have to pull him off so he didnt kill them cuz he would just be fueled with pure hate and if i didnt stop him those dudes would probably have died or needed reconstructive face surgery. One time i seen my bro get punched in the face and then crack this dude in the head with a 30pk of beer and the kid fell down a flight of stairs, my bro chucked the case down the stairs and then he straight sprinted and did a flying running jump down the flight of stairs landed a superman punch on the dudes face with his entire body weight / momentum. he painted the wall with that dudes face from the flying punch. then follow it up with rapid fire punching dude into a brick wall until the kid finally dropped to the floor and then my bro just sat on his chest constantly rapid fire punching his face into the concrete floor. I had to throw my bro off the guy cuz i thought dude was dead and i was like we need to get the fuck out of here. the whole fuckin hallway looked like a massacre, just covered in blood everywhere. The kid ended up getting arrested for under-age drinking after we left and his mugshot was in the newspaper with a picture of him just completely unrecognizable, his face was fucked. So yeah when somepeople get punched in the face the plan goes out the window and thats not always a good thing for the person who threw that first punch.

      It's fair to call out cringe for what it, but acting like this is ruining Star Wars is bizarre. A bunch of people showed their hand earlier and it was obviously about the diverse casting, and now they're trying to backfill like that's not what it was about. If we're being honest, the Boba Fett show was similarly cringey (and way more pointless), but this lightsaber fight topped anything in that show.

    Qimir's fighting style reminded me a lot of how Dao (Chinese Broadswords) are used one handed. Whenever his swordarm was doing anything, his offhand was either using the force, blocking with his corthosis bracelet (reminds of how Hung Gar Rings sometimes are depicted in old Hong Kong films), used as a counterbalance, or used for grappling. He at least once redirected a lightsaber blow from right to left with the blade pointed down and turned that momenrum into a direct counterattack, which is a classic dao move seen in a lot of forms from different Kung Fu styles.
    It is a pretty agressive, while elegant fighting style that has to close gaps a lot and never forgets using the offhand, which seems to be one of the inspirations for his lightsaber form.

    The Way Qimir fights kinda reminds me of Ventress. Like Qimir, Ventress is implied to not be following any specific technique and is mostly just cutting loss. They both compensate for their unrefined forms with their use of their strength in the darkside and their wits.
    On the topic of Ventress, this fight scene also reminds me of Ventress's duel with Luminara. Where Luminara gets bested by Ventress due to her unconventional approach towards fighting. The Sith assassin slashed pipe releasing hot steam inorder to blind Luminara before cutting multiple pipes to trap her under. Luminara even notes that Ventress was unlike any other opponent she faced implying she’s note use to fighting someone who’s constantly fighting dirty.
    In both these duels the Jedi get their asses handed to them because they’re not use to fighting someone who doesn’t fight by their terms which causes them to be caught off gaurd.

    Just thought I'd put this out there 'cos I thought it was pretty cool: the whole 2nd saber thing and the manner of Jecki's death was Manny Jacinto's idea. I don't know if he's actually knowledgeable about Star Wars, but it seems like he has pretty good instincts as to the nature of the Sith:
    "We were talking about how this guy doesn't play fair. He just doesn't abide by the rules. So I was like: What would be cool is if he had a hidden dagger somewhere, and that he could use it and he could bring that up because that doesn't feel Jedi. It feels like it's like a cheap shot, almost. Then I was talking to Guillermo, one of our stunt coordinators, and I was like, “It'd be cool if he could just get another saber, and that's how he would kill Jecki.”"

    The one criticism I had about the fighting is when Qimir kept putting himself in harms way by trying to fight more than one opponent at a time, from more than one direction at a time since he moved between them early on. Though to his credit, he did keep moving.
    When you fight multiple opponents, your best option is turn it into a series of one-on-one fights and not let them surround you.

    As you were talking about the fighting styles, I was remembering what Bruce Lee said. I am not afraid of someone who knows 10k moves, but someone who practiced one movie 10k times. The badass knows and has mastered the basics.

    I think no matter what people's views are on this show, this episode was a certified banger. I was literally screaming during the lightsaber fights. Jecki let her rage get the better of her and got messed up as a result, she could've been an excellent Jedi Master.

    I think it’s great how the Acolyte shows the growth of complacency and subversion within the Jedi. It definitely builds some background to the fact that 100 hundred years later 10k Jedi could not sense one Sith in the Phantom Menace even though Quigon clearly warned them. As for the fighting it was great, Qimir’s strategy was most impressive. It makes sense that he would not be fighting in an expected way per the Jedi. I hope to find out more about Qimir’s history if they have time to give it. I hope to find out why Sol and Qimir seem to share a bit of familiarity and or history. The fact that Qimir was interested in protecting his mind from someone as strong as Sol is indicative of a possible weakness. I do wonder if Qimir is an apprentice because one could expect a Sith Lord would not have the same need to do so.

  • @NasTalkz
    @NasTalkz 3 месяца назад

    Qimir seems to use forms 2,6 and 7. He fights with one hand most often, but combines it forms 6’s intended use of using different type of attacks, even hand to hand attack during combat, and also form 7 given he’s a sith-ish

    At this point the Jedi are trained to fight a specific way (I think)
    A personal theory, Chimer's mask covers his eyes it seems. He doesn't follow the rules of combat, and he doesn't seem to be fighting out of anger. What if he is moving with the force? Similar to how Ben trained Luke on the Falcon.

    When playing AD&D, 'eons' ago, I added a desperation move to the fighters' repertoire. A round house swing that allows a chance at continuous strike at each opponent surrounding, but leaving the fighter in a worse defensive position. It worked about 1/3 of the time...

  • @calebfields3507
    @calebfields3507 3 месяца назад +4

    I actually have fought 5 against 1 many times. We do sparring rounds like that in Krav Maga. Fighting multiple enemies is actually easier than you might think. The 1 has a lot more advantages then you realize. It’s all about footwork and making your enemies get in each others way. On another note, I think quimir was toying with some of the Jedi. I think he purposely let sol win. He didn’t jeki till the moment she knocked his mask off and he had other opportunities to kill her and didn’t. Also the way yord died. There’s a lot more to the episode 5 lightsaber battle than meets the eye. IMO.

      You are absolutely right! And it wouldn't surprise if the Jedi order during that time did not really train group fighting against melee combatants all that much. Since most of their adversaries would probably be using blasters or other ranged weapons.

    Thing about lightsaber forms is that the Jedi learn the basics of each but then may specialize and even master in a few. Borrowing was also possible to shore up one's speciality. It aint rock'm sock'm robots, it is life and death, be fluid, adapt - and strive to overcome your foe.
    Still makes me chuckle to this day - a brown belt martial arts student thought that they could stop a person with a knife when that person had intent to maim, injure, or worse. It is sad they even teach that nonsense to higher belts in a sport. They certainly don't teach that in military martial arts - any hostile could be a deadly threat.

    When Qimir sends Jecki lon to the living force. That was a filipino martial arts move ( Espada Y Daga/ sword and dagger) . Kali, also known as Arnis or Eskrima, is the martial art of the Philippines. Kali emphasizes fighting with tools like sticks, knives, swords, improvised weapons, as well as empty hand techniques. the fight choreographers Chris Cowan, Mark Ginther, and Daren Nop worked on daredevil and moon knight, in which those characters fight in the style of arnis
    Manny Jacinto is filipino, only makes sense that would be the fighting style

    I just binged through the 5 episodes today because I’ve been putting the show off, but having just finished them, I’ve decided the hate is mostly unfounded and it makes me cringe when I see those RUclips videos that are feeding that hate… and I’m a vocal anti sequel trilogy fan. I’ve also noticed that my favorite lore channels, the ones that are so much deeper into the Star Wars sauce than most are actually not the ones spreading that hate and I think that says something about the ones who are. I binged those 5 episodes and I don’t binge things I don’t enjoy.

    One thing i dont understand is why people are surprised a Sith is extremely powerful. The whole point them keeping there number low is to only ever have the strongest allowed to even be a Sith. They have to kill their master meaning that over time they only get stronger and stronger unlike the light. He is only a few generations away from Vader.

    I'm liking the show. Not the best, sure, but it is pretty fun overall.
    So I'm still very in the air if Qimir is sith or not (I'll save my theory for that later), but I predict that by the end, he'll die. Sol... not sure. One of thee things. Either he'll do a heroic thing and die saving Osha or something (most likely), or he'll leave the jedi order for whatever reason, keeping some vow of secrecy (either from shame or to protect the jedi and/or Osha), which is how Kiadi doesn't learn of the Sith. Or he'll fall to the darkside himself.

  • @statickaeder29
    @statickaeder29 3 месяца назад

    I've been thinking about this, and I'm wondering if swapping places with her sister was May's way to get to Sol - the last Jedi of the 4, her last chance to "kill without a weapon" and I'm worried. I'm also worried that Kymere will try to sway Osha, in the way Palpatine did with Anakin - really, what were the Jedi thinking, letting the Chancellor butter up this little kid (he was most obvious in the first movie, more away from observation in the others), and not supporting him themselves.
