I feel a bulk of the hype was just the fact that it was finally coming out after all these years. It might not be perfect, but at least it's finally here.
I’m one of the people who was outrageously hyped for the game and couldn’t agree more. I think I was in like middle school or something when the original trailer, now moving for college. Seeing it get passed between different companies and wondering if it would even be made definitely inflated the hype train and when it got delivered in a pretty solid state (in comparison to games nowadays) it definitely satisfied most of us.
As a die hard Dead Island fan it’s dope to see a Dying Light fan’s perspective on the game. Completely agree on pretty much everything you said both positive and negative. After playing Dead Island 2 I decided to give DL2 a chance again and can definitely say both games are amazing in their respective roles. Awesome and underrated channel for sure ‼️❤️
I actually really enjoy DI2! i agree with the sentiment of not going through every slayer as I am on slayer #3 (slayer #2 is co-op only and im halfway through) but even with this slayer im already skipping dialogue cuz i dont want to hear the NPC's dialogue 3 times. they should add ability to skip specific sentences so we can skip the NPC and just get to the slayers dialogue. Also i liked the idea of minigames. something to keep you able to do stuff once you 100% the game on a slayer.
I think Ill wait till it comes out on steam cause I forgot my epic password like 4 times in the past year and I dont open it much. If by then they fix all the bugs, release some dlc or add any other content Im gonna have more fun for it.
Video game standards are at a all time low gone are the days of big games coming out like fallout 3 new vegas skyrim gta 4 rdr 2 no new games are goof last masterpiece i played was rdr 2 in 2018
I know this is a bit away but DL2 has its last chance with me. The recent update is ok but DI2 has things that completely smashed DL2 on. Like environment, the feel to when you fight a zombie. I want the same feeling I got to when I played DL1 which in my opinion is better then both games. But with DL2 just doesn’t hit the same it feels like a chore to a degree sometimes. Well I’m glad techland has competition. Which I hope that gets them to actually try and make the game better which I feel is stupid cause I shouldn’t have to wait a year for something that should be in the game from release especially with all the delays at the time. Both games to me are disappointing. Back to DL1 I guess.

Finished the game it’s an fun game with the fury mode also the weapons , but the downside is there no real bosses nor bandits.
