How did I miss this video when it came out?? That is the most brilliant storage I've ever seen on a sewing machine. It warms the cockles of my little want-to-be-organized heart. The shirt is wonderful. Love the sleeves. So medieval-esque. Thanks for sharing your new machine and if you haven't given her a name, I'd call her Inga.
Glad you enjoyed it! And I love the storage too! (So much more practical and easy to get to than under where your sewing) the shirt is also now a form favourite in my wardrobe :)
Great machine, hope you are able to get parts and bobbins for it. Love the funky coloured dress you are wearing, it is just amazing, the weather looks so nice there.
Hi... I am really glad that I saw this video. I have almost the same sewing machine and it is from my mother. She had this over 20 years or more already, a present from a good friend way back. However she didn't use this because she don't have interest in sewing. She just kept this and let other barrow if needed. And now, I got interest in sewing again for I want to make small business out of it like making scrunchies and more, however the manual was written in japanese and there are some details that I totally don't understand and missed important information for its part functions. I already try to search this machine in google last year, hoping that I can be able to see manual on this that can be translated in english but I failed and I also tried in youtube but the videos were in japanese and it's blurry and hard to understand. Just Last night I tried to open the machine again and try to understand the manual base on the photo however I can't still be able to run it. I'm about to give up on this sewing machine and just sell this tomorrow in the market place and buy simple machine. but for the last time I search this again just this time in youtube and here I came accross on your channel and really inspired with your feedback about this machine. And we can totally considered this as vintage thing and it makes it more beautiful. I still have hope that I can be able to smoothly used this. Please notice me, I just wanted to ask for help, maybe you have information on this machine written in english or anything that can be help of. I will also try to explore more on your videos to gather more information on this. Thank you so much in advance 😊😘
Hi, so I was able to find an English manual online. I don't have the link any more but If you wanted to drop me an email or hop onto the discord I would be happy to share it with you :)
Because of your video, I looked up a Vintage Janome and found one which is an 813. I bought it and it is like yours except mine is a blue-green color where yours is a reddish color. Same case, same way to lift up the top and all the gadgets ect. I have a manual except it is in Japanese. Shame on you for getting me to buy yet ANOTHER vintage machine. hahahaha!
Call her Heidi or Clara. Heidi, Girl of the Alps animated series started in 1974. Just realised you said Sweden not Switzerland lol. In that case Agnetha or Anni-Frid 😅
Your review makes me want one of rhese machines. I've been googling it but i cannot find if you can lower the feed dogs to do free motion embroidery on it. Do you know please?
You can lower the feed dogs but I haven't experimented with that yet. Having said that I have a project coming up where I'm going to need to do a lot of free motion quilting on her so keep your eyes out for that video (probably going to happen at the end of the year) to see how it goes :)
Bernina is GREATLY overrated. Vintage Janome is kind of the sweet spot in terms of performance for money paid. Plus you can find feet and bobbins (Class 15) almost anywhere.
If you want to make your own top you can get the GRADED sewing pattern here in UK size 8-16

Congratulations. I understand your excitement about your latest toy. It's beautiful, and functional and I love hearing the history of the machines.
Thank you so much!
O.M.G. ! Kudos for Ben for planning ahead so you could sew & video. What a "keeper" ♡♡♡
Back to the video !
Thanks he definitely is!

Now I want one too
I highly recommend, she's has been a brilliant work horse since I started using her!
Love that machine!
Chain stitch is brilliant for mock ups as it comes out so easily ❤
I can't wait to try it!
Great machine, hope you are able to get parts and bobbins for it. Love the funky coloured dress you are wearing, it is just amazing, the weather looks so nice there.
The weather is lovely lol and yep bobbins have been acquired and it got a full oil and clean once I got to the shop!
Fabulous machine
Very ahead of its time with all the features. You should name her Scarlet.
Oh I like that idea!

I was confused for a moment when you said "soda". You meant 'soda pop', my mind thought "baking soda" which IS good for putting out fires ! 🔥 LOL!
Haha good point!

Oh my gosh that sounds so cool!!! Post a picture on the discord or Instagram I so want to see!!!!
Can you post a video showing how to lower the feed dogs?
Unfortunately I'm not currently using this machine but the manual for it is available online for free and details how

Decimantoling the handiwhiru
Sorry I'm not sure I understand
Hi Annabelle and Ben, Can I ask if the gearing in this machine is all metal? 🙂
I believe it is. Certainly feels that way considering how heavy it is!

Agreed. I would LOVE a bernina machine but money wise Janome takes the cake
