Dear Motowagon, I hope you read this comment! I've been following the Jimny for a few years and the 3-door variant has a huge following in several countries. I came back from the UK where the 3-door Jimny is very popular and sales are sky-rocketing! There have been instances where some people have bought the Jimny for double the price due to its long waiting period. I too wanted a 3-door Jimny and was very hyped up when I learnt that it was coming to India. It's an awesome city car due to its compact dimensions and a fun weekend car due to its strong off-road capabilities and it was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, Maruti Suzuki had other ideas and launched the 5-door version after a lot of engineering effort. Now due to the 5-door situation, the car's size has increased and it is not very good for the city, moreover, off-road cars need to have short wheelbase for better off-road performance, which is also destroyed due to the 5-door. Thus the 5-door Jimny made it an odd-impractical city car and lost its weekend fun values. I've been saying this from the moment the 5-door was launched and I hope Maruti Suzuki realises this and launches the 3-door version, however, at this point it seems that it is highly unlikely!

Wonderful review!! It's the true SUV, utility purpose is enhanced. Previously I had owned more than 5 gypsy, old version, I owned a coffee estate accessible only by 4 wd. Gypsy was so useful mainly for reaching the property without hassle, carrying building materials upto 250 kgs, transportation of workers etc., mostly 4 wd low gear was used. So it's performance was amazing. I used to buy only second hand vehicle with low mileage from customers with less usage of 4wd. The maintenance is very cheap. Additional spring plates had to be added in front and back. The allgrip transfercase is the best option in the JIMNY. After ua conclusion I have decided to buy a JIMNY since the ride on the highway with a legal speed is comfortable without any body roll.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌
I'm an ex rally driver and I have taken a test drive of the Jimny both on highway and broken roads, I would say you won't be disappointed buying a Jimny, especially at the discounted price it's on sale now.

Exactly told. When I did the test drive, i felt the same. The rear seat is not fit for 3 passengers, and also less thigh support. Without some basic requirements it's overpriced. So it's really not impressive to clients. Maruti should consider this upgrade and pricing. Also maruti should think about 2 wheel rear drive model.
@@Kirukku_Kirukku Those who want 4x4 are not buying Jimny. Thats the whole problem now. Lets face it-if u want to travel on mountain roads, all existing vehicles r doing it including Alto. If u want to drive thro bad village roads, even Bolero does it well. For those who want the looks of a 4x4, Thar is doing it. For those who r talking performance and 4x4, they r considering this under powered. So, who exactly will Jimny cater to. Other countries dont have Thar to contend with. So, as a company, they need to look at economics of production. So, they should reduce the price and have a significant number of people using it. They can gradually increase the price. If not, instead of buying Jimny, they will prefer Brezza or Sonet or Punch or Nexon.

MW team, good review. As pointed out, the Jimny is a very good product and could perform better if Maruti improves the interiors in terms of practicality and quality. It is priced very close to the Thar, which is another challenge since the Thar and Jimny are not direct competitors. A few points I noticed during the test drive: The engine lacks power initially in each gear, especially in the manual version. The turning radius is very high, making it difficult to use in the city. I own an XL6 with the same engine and do not experience any power lag. The top-end Jimny costs 18 lakhs; however, the finish and engine power do not justify the cost. For those who can afford it, the Jimny can be kept as a prized possession, especially if Maruti decides to discontinue it.
Jimny is failing because of price. It is a fat cousin of Wagon R. Sit inside and you feel space is so small. They can't reduce the price since they didn't localise enough for components.

The reason why Jimny failed is because of Maruti tried to milk the Jimny's legacy rather than focus on the product itself. They left in the initial tide and let Thar enjoy monopoly for a quite a long time. Like Thar, Jimny is not for everyone. Maruti failed to understand this basic thing and wasted years developing a 5-door version that is so poorly engineered that the rear propeller shaft scrapes the chassis.
I am sure that this car is going to be a hidden treasure. After few years when this is stopped by the company then people will start to search for this car. This is a treasure for future Indian traffic roads….

😊It would like bring a lesson Suzuki learned from Versa which was launched around 2004. Versa was a upgraded version of Eeco. When versa launched no one bought due to price and mileage. Then, MS downgraded and launched Eeco around 2010 which is now performing good till today. If MS could reduce the price the sales number could increase. Replies welcomed❤

Asir sir...no mention about the famous " bangle gate " issue in jimny..where the propeller shaft is getting a bangle mark like paint chipping...and maruti is yet to offer any solution for it although it has been reported in several cars since march 2024..
Not a hater, but in my point of view why it failed. Reasons: 1. Looks - easily the ugliest looking boxy car, a direct successor of its sibling Wagon R. 2. Price - priced more than a highly capable Hyundai Venue's N-Line variant (non 4x4). 3. 4x4 - puny tiny engine cannot match Thar's potent engine and Thar is bigger and has better road presence. 4. Interiors - nothing new offered in terms of technological upgrade for the asking price, need additional accessories to make it more usable space. 5. Off Road - still requires a wheel upgrade afaik its true, even headlights needed an upgrade over the stock ones, more added expenses. 6. Mechanical - propeller shaft issues in many Jimny cars. 7. Read point 1.
If this driving experience of Jimmy was done earlier, it would have had better sales. Pona varathu - vitta kidaikathu.. stock irukkumpothe vaanganum. Panam than venum. Nalla car thaan.
Eventhough you have given your views for the failure the biggest failure is that, in India also they should have launched the 3 door which is still a very attractive car. The 3 door Gimny will definetly succeed. I recommend that Suzuki should give this international version option to Indians also.
According to me, the reason for the failure of Jimny is its design na... For ppl's mind, the design creases & the butch looking of THAR has gone inside to them and associate to THAR when you hear the name "A Proper Off-roader/4x4". Jimny was not so butch looking and did not have a powerful spec (on paper) as THAR to them. Actually Jimny has more than enough power, torque, okayish space for the second row, highly capable 4x4 system. Since this launched as a 5Door in the starting itself and Mahindra launched the RWD THAR with a starting of 9.99Lks, it created a perception that Jimny is pricier. Jimny & THAR will be a second car that ppl treat as an off-roader car for some fun times and a "lifestyle" thing, when they compare both off-roaders, they incline towards THAR. Btw. Thar 5D is launching at a price of 12.99Lks which is almost same as Jimny, considering the bigger looks, more spacious interior and better engine (2.0L mStallion, 1.5L mStallion, 2.2mHawk).

Sir your review is nice but I have few things in my mind.. First of all biggest drawback for Jimmy is they are in cross platform some prefer as normal suv and others go for 4wd..In India only 4wd drive so far in market with less package is definitely Jimmy but they don't focus only on that.. Maruti try to bring them as normal suv that's were it's failing.. If they got only for 4wd drive then definitely it will be a highest selling car in this segment.. Also few things what is said in interior is valid they need to improve... This is very unique no comparison for thar or any other jeeps..
HI MW ,only two reasons mainly attribute for diminishing sales. The In-competetive Price Tag and Not Having a DIESEL HEART. MS debut JIMNY without satisfying Target Buyers. Every car sold in INDIA does have some Target Buyer. JIMNY does'nt suit a Buyer of any kind. Neither it suits a potential Off-roader nor suit a Family usage. when its converted to a 5 door but without enhancing Interior space due to size constraint is of no use . I don't think JIMNY can handle with ease in a hill drive with full cabin. However its having good stuff both Technically and satisfying the Times .Improvements in Interior with a Potent Engine which can complement Highway cruising can do wonders? JIMNY'S Present OFF-ROAD capabilities are mainly due to its less weight.
No cabin research by Maruti, as usual. Car designing should start from the cabin, in this customer era, to be passenger-friendly. Then comes the engine, gear box, fuel efficiency, safety etc.... Most of the products of Maruti are just 4 wheelers, not cars. For the profit they make, they can produce much superior cars than the competitors, but they don't bother it. Less 4 wheeler (car), but much higher price, be it any Maruti product.
Tempo trax already exists in india. Why anybody will buy maruti version? Mahindra maintains tradition. Jeep jeep madiri irukanum, car car madiri iirukanum. 1.3 or 1.2 litre engine sufficient with three door design. What is the mileage of the vehicle? Those who have seen the vehicle in real would have thought it is hummer truck.

@@arun.r_2605 agreed its power was good.... I wonder some people recommend it to a 1.5 turbocharged engine...... It is a pure car for offroad and decent highway ( it gives 15km/l for highways)..... K15B series engine and 4 speed torque converter was also kept for the purpose of having better power ..... Cheap interiors, cost little higher and asir bro mentioned the seats are not comfortable for long drives.... But it's a fair 4x4...

Nice feedback: yes 2× 6 speed AMT with reclining seat at back are good suggestions.

Design of power windows switch was soo aftermarket. Most of the car felt aftermarket for me, such as exposed wiring for rear defogger, exposed plastics etc
Well explained, I guess I’m one among the enthusiast, as I own one ❤, it’s just an amazing fun to drive car with offroad capability. You can enjoy offroading with your family, such a beautifully engineered vehicle
Sir, Ford did the same mistake with Ford Fusion. It’s print advertisements were showing the car bigger than the real life car! I guess Fusion was the first mini SUV

If you are intending to buy one, get it now. There is around ₹3 lakhs discount this month. You won't be disappointed with the Jimny if you are an enthusiastic
In kerala u can see so many Jimmy car on road
Main problem is : no diesel
Beautifully designed affordable offroad/city vehicle produced by Suzuki. It is not a first vehicle of normal Indian. Good car for collection. It should not be compared with Mahindra Thar.

Booked Jimny Alpha AT, it really is a worthy vehicle, particularly with the ongoing discounts. It is an excellent second car that you can take it inside city everyday and offroad if you are interested. But its good only as a second car not as a only car or primary car of the family.
Asir sir.. wonderful review as always..
Indians in my opinion buy all those pseudo SUVs and even the 3 door thar which is highly impractical and rides like a boat...just for its macho look..

Jimny will never sell unless the base variant is available for
Which brand is providing 4x4 for the said price any one !
@@samskarebyaha I don’t have any answer, please take a test drive ! Then do comment. You can’t even compare with any of those above mentioned vehicles, it’s entirely different from above mentioned categories. As understood it’s not the car for everyone

Why don't you compare the Jimny with an autorickshaw and rant? 😂
After watching this video I love to drive Jimny ❤ Detail explanation 👏
Just try it bro you will love it, try it on off-road and on road both conditions
I wanted to buy a second hand one for 10 lakhs but it was too early after the release. Couldn't find any less than 15 lakhs. After a few years will try again.
You will get a brand new one for 12-13.5 lakhs now. Go for it
MW team, good review.
As pointed out, the Jimny is a very good product and could perform better if Maruti improves the interiors in terms of practicality and quality. It is priced very close to the Thar, which is another challenge since the Thar and Jimny are not direct competitors.
A few points I noticed during the test drive:
The engine lacks power initially in each gear, especially in the manual version.

Depend on robust authenticity
Uncompromising features define the Jimny as a serious off-road machine.
A robust ladder frame, three ample body angles, 3-link rigid axle suspensions with coil springs and 4WD with a low-range transfer gear.
Equipped with a 1.5 litre engine, it takes you wherever you want to go with unrivalled agility and powerful torque when you need it most jimny .

As usual, great review Asir bro! As you said, Diesel option would have pushed its image and sales. Maruti should go back to its past on providing a diesel option on most of their products.
Gypsy was never available in diesel, same story here
😊It would like bring a lesson Suzuki learned from Versa which was launched around 2004. Versa was a upgraded version of Eeco. When versa launched no one bought due to price and mileage.
Then, MS downgraded and launched Eeco around 2010 which is now performing good till today.
If MS could reduce the price the sales number could increase.

Asir sir...no mention about the famous " bangle gate " issue in jimny..where the propeller shaft is getting a bangle mark like paint chipping...and maruti is yet to offer any solution for it although it has been reported in several cars since march 2024..

It’s not under powered, just take a test drive and engage 4x4 you can feel the power, it’s just tuned for better mileage on 2WD
Not a hater, but in my point of view why it failed.
Reasons:
Jimmy is not a replacement for maruti suzuki jpsy it's looks, stylish, performance, roughly, no other vehicle suzuki jpsy always rock
If this driving experience of Jimmy was done earlier, it would have had better sales. Pona varathu - vitta kidaikathu.. stock irukkumpothe vaanganum. Panam than venum. Nalla car thaan.
i'm guessing if the 3 door was launched as jimny and the 5 door released as XL jimny but size should be as big as atleast bolero for indian market.
Eventhough you have given your views for the failure the biggest failure is that, in India also they should have launched the 3 door which is still a very attractive car. The 3 door Gimny will definetly succeed. I recommend that Suzuki should give this international version option to Indians also.

Poor thing even sales person itself not promoting jimny TRUE FACT!

My friends , my sincere opinion high quality wonderful jeep
I own one , the size is very suitable for narrow roads in india
Very strong chassis , super AC , good build quality , you have a feeling you are driving a strong jeep
My humble oopinion this should be your second vehicle
You should have one for your family
This is a hobby vehicle
This is for 4 wheel drive , of road drive enthusiasts
The first Jimny was introduced in 1970 in Japan
It is popular in many countries like australia , Africa etc
There are die hard Jimny fans through out the world
Till date very popular
Jimny made is india is exported through out world
It is has 54 years of history
Thanks bro👍
Sir your review is nice but I have few things in my mind.. First of all biggest drawback for Jimmy is they are in cross platform some prefer as normal suv and others go for 4wd..In India only 4wd drive so far in market with less package is definitely Jimmy but they don't focus only on that.. Maruti try to bring them as normal suv that's were it's failing.. If they got only for 4wd drive then definitely it will be a highest selling car in this segment.. Also few things what is said in interior is valid they need to improve... This is very unique no comparison for thar or any other jeeps..
Well said
HI MW ,only two reasons mainly attribute for diminishing sales.
❤ Good 👍
May be TOYOTA will rebadge this SUV jiminy will get good sales value......
in 2019 in wanted 2 door Jimny, i have moved on now as other vehicles can do the same with electronics better...
Engine performance , low end torque kammi and people looking for some road presence and thar pricing
With very less sale of ignis maruti must try selling 3 door jimny at the price of ignis
If Gimny have rear wheel drive with interior space I will definitely buy this …..
Design is the major factor for me going towards thar rather than the Jimny
Gimny failure is because of its small size... It just looks like wagon r .. rugged version😂😂😂😂😂😂
