- In a talk for The Coming Home Network's 2010 Deep in History conference, Jesuit Bible scholar Fr. Mitch Pacwa looks at different methods for analyzing the Scriptures, and distinguishes between lower and higher criticism. Fr. Pacwa looks at some of the important background knowledge necessary to begin serious Scripture study, and cautions against critical methods that begin with the assumption that the Bible is an unreliable text.
Thank You Fr. Mitch!
Always entertaining and informative!
Fr. Mitch Pacwa thank you for having you in this video to strengthten our catholic faith and can defend it. I am not worthy to be called catholic if I can't defend it.according to St.
My favorite priest. I've learned a lot. This is surely wisdom from Our Lord✝️🙏😌
awesome, awesome scholarly knowledge if only these knowledge will be writen in books and reproduced for young generations to read in all libraries
Minor point. Father mixes some of his dates up considerably. Chronology is probably not so important for this audience, but would be for scholars. Otherwise, Father Mitch is quite enlightening!
Fr. Mitch Pacwa will be a good legate to the Middle Eastern Catholic and Christian churches because he is a good biblical scholar.
Fr. PACWA TEACHES important matters.
He mastered Arabic as well! Thanks God for this Priest.
I love to pray for you. May God Always Keep an Eye on you! Such Blessing Is God's Faithful, and God's Holy Church, and God's Grace! Blessed Be God Forever! Wait?? Didn't the intro say 'Deep In History', yet claimed to be a scholar of Scripture scholarship? Quite the contradiction! Reality versus fantasy.
Contradiction…how so?
I just need to tell this truth. I was studying the Bible and this other language rose out of the word and the spirit in me said oh this isn't good. Then nights later I woke to the spirit in me blowing a trumpet. This just a sample of what I went through in my awakening were these lessons for my personal walk with the Lord or for humanity in general?
Oh mercy.
When a layperson says what is the difference between a lay woman in giving the ashes on forehead & a priest, shows how far from our roots we have gone.
Awesome knowledge how did he remembered all the fact? He must be a book worm!
Can Fr Pacwa or someone else show where Jesus our Lord cites Sirach in St Luke?
Dr. PACWA is a papal legate from the Vatican , in Rome, and Fr. Pacwa may possibly obtain the rank of a cardinal, which is proper to do for him, an elevation of his office in the Catholic Church.
He needs to become a bishop first.
A Cardinal dos not have to be a Bishop first. There has been many priests who became a Cardinal and never was a Bishop. Fr Avery Dulles being one of hem.
@@bradk7310 Did not know that.
@CO hahahahaha true
hi
Of course, if you're making mistakes in writing the bible, wouldn't it nullify it's value to the reader? I am well aware of some feminist heresies in even the real bible, the catholic bible, in some editions, where the writer inserted an "s" into one of the passages, thus nullifying its value to put it simply, if not making it blatantly heretical; and it's one of the most commonly used versions at that.
Please list text !
@@larrym.johnson9219 No, because that's not needed at all; they nullify the message in and of themselves forever.
@@chissstardestroyer Ok There is no text that's understandable.
@@larrym.johnson9219 No, there is no need to reveal to *you* any text, at all, nor ever would there be any need to reveal that to *you yourself*.

In all respect, Catholic doctrine contradicts the Bible. Jesus said, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him." Whoever asks receives. Yet, Catholic doctrine contradicts the words of Christ, misquoting verses on baptism and communion. You must know Christ personally to be saved. All else is worthless. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
"You must know Christ personally to be saved." Is that what what the Bible says?
@@MadDog7XL Hi. Great question. You asked if, according to the Bible, you must know Christ to be saved. The gospel message is so simple: friendship with God lost because of sin; friendship restored through the Cross. Jesus said, "This is eternal life, that you know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent." Do you know the Lord or, on that great and terrible day, will He say to you, "Depart from Me; I never knew you."
To enter heaven, you must be born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, seated in the heavenlies with Christ. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
@@kenshiloh How is one born again?
@@MadDog7XL Hi. Great question again, how is one born again? It is so easy. Jesus said, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him." Speaking of the Holy Spirit, He also said, "Whoever believes in Me will have rivers of living water bubbling up to eternal life."
In my own case, I heard the gospel for the first time at the age of 17. A short time later, I walked onto the lawn of a church one night and, looking up at the steeple, prayed my first prayer, "Is there Jesus? I would like to meet Him!" When I met the Lord, all heaven filled my soul and it felt like my heart was made out of gold. I have been extremely great friends with Christ ever since.
I hope you will get to know Christ - just by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
