True. But it is much harder when a young child or teenager loses a parent, I think. Especially if it's sudden. If you're middle aged when an elderly parent passes away, it's sad, but, you know, you've been in the game awhile, been to many funerals before. it's not as jarring.
Absolutely beautiful...77 years of a loving marriage....Very rare in the world? How wonderful and truly blessed they were to have each other...
That's because they came from a better time.

@@nancydavis_ What also intrigued me was how the letter seemed so representative of the time - the use of the word "darling" in the address and the body of the letter. How many people use that word anymore? It seemed very sweet and genuine, and as I said earlier - touching.

She just read the words her Daddy need to here. " until tomorrow". He has lived for Roselyn for 77 years, he can put that mantle down now. The kids gave their permission. Beautifully done. Their mother taught them caregivering as well.
Wonderful tribute, Amy. I remember at 17 years old watching the nightly news and seeing Amy climb the tree house that her father built for her on the White House grounds. Also, Her parents not only talked the the talk but walked the walk and sent Amy to public school when every other hypocritical member of Congress sent their children to private schools while pretending to care about public schools. This family is the salt of the earth and Rosalynn was the heartbeat. May God bless the Carter family always. 🙏

I totally understand how you feel and my condolences to you as well. This was very tough and emotional for me to see today. I lost my mom 7 years ago and I still get teary eyed whenever I think of her.

I will always remember Rosalynn Carter and her love and devotion to her husband, family, country and anyone who was in need. President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Carter worked tirelessly for decades helping people build their own homes, they even pitched in some elbow grease doing manual labor. IMO they have such huge hearts, may God bless Mrs. Carter's ever loving soul and bring comfort to our president Carter, their family and all of their loved ones. 🙏

How beautiful this letter was. Rosalynn Carter and Jimmy Carter are some of the United States brightest examples of what being in service to Christ and to country can and should be like. Humbled and compassion driven both in office and especially outside of it. I thank them both for their long service to both God and country.

I'm a conservative but still feel pain for their family😢. I was around for the Carter years, waiting in line for gas, only able to get gas on "even or odd days" depending on your license plate. The Iran hostage etc. When Pres Carter asked his 12 yo daughter her advise..BUT..i ask everyone to understand the grieving the family is going through. I feel everyone should feel compassion for the loss of a Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
