"Helping Filipinos integrate into Chongqing is something I am passionate about", says Elvira Maglalang, a Filipino English teacher who has lived in Chongqing since 2004.
Elvira has made a home and built a career in the mountain city for 20 years. A mother of two, a caring and dedicated wife, and a warm-hearted preschool English teacher, she is also the secretary of UFC, a Filipino teachers’ organization in Chongqing. This year, she proposed a series of workshops aimed at helping Filipinos who have recently arrived or are about to come to Chongqing understand the city's language, culture, and lifestyle, allowing them to better integrate into the city and share in the opportunities presented by Chongqing's development.
Her story is a Filipino woman with confidence, courage, kindness, and an open mind.
