To mount it with a smaller screw, you can use a wide washer called a "fender" washer" so the screw doesn't pass through the hole. You can find them at pretty much any hardware store or home improvement store. They are generally silver so you might want to paint it black cover it with black tape after installation.
Generally, that bracket is going to be cheap, cheap, cheap. Buy an "L" bracket and connect it. It probably takes a 1/4 inch standard screw mount. You could actually just go to the hardware store and buy an angle L bracket and make it work. These are made cheap and I wouldn't throw money on the supplied mounting bracket, especially, if you can bend the bracket with one hand almost like tinfoil.

How do you mount it? The hole in the bracket is very wide and the light is so light it shouldn’t need a heavy duty screw to mount to ceiling.
