It is really nice to think that we'd get to meet the Prophets and be by their sides, but Allah has placed us where we are, with the difficulties and distractions that we have with a purpose. And all that we go through is a testament to what Allah saw in us - He could have chosen us for another time, but He didn't. He, from His infinite wisdom and mercy, chose us for this time, and that is best for us.
Sometimes it's enough to think that the Prophet (SAW) specifically referred to us, the generation that believes in him and supports him without having met him, as his brothers/sisters. If anything, it'll be more touching to see him (SAW) on the Day of Judgment insha'Allah :)
