I can store the propane tank/bottle outside yet store the generator in my home when it's not in use as I will never put any gas in the engine. It is so light, and on echo mode, which I expect is how it will be used most of the time, it is pretty darned quiet (certainly compared to all the generators I hear in my neighborhood after each power outage). Many of the previous reviews had me concerned that it would be difficult to start on propane, but I have to say, I had absolutely no problem at all. I primed it first using the choke...3 pulls, heard the engine want to start, flipped it to propane, and one more pull and she started. I ran it for 2 hours the first time and plugged it in my fridge. And when I was done, I put the propane tank away and carried the generator to my basement for next time.I could not be happier.

That is one very nice power station! The 5k price tag is a tough pill to swallow though. Hopefully the more these become the standard, the price will come down a little bit.
@@07starman You are not the intended customers as this is more geared to things like search and rescue as you often need power but generators are simply too loud both for audio and for electronics. They would also be good for film crews to remove the needs of those multi million dollar truck mounted generators and thousands of feet of power cords to keep the sound away from the mics. Search and Rescue often involves so many different radio setups that they need a central point that can listen and relay but a generator pumps out so much EM noise that it can put static over those radios making it harder to hear anything on the sensitive equipment. You also have cases like collapsed buildings when you need power to run tools but the sound of the generators can make it impossible to hear anyone trapped inside.
$ 5340 + 12% tax ($650) makes it a $ 6000 unit. 10 year life cycle = $ 600/year on cost. My Honda GenSet is paid, get used very often and does not burn $ 600/year on gas. On larger jobs I bill the client for the gas or he has some at hand.
If that works for you thats great but keep in mind many areas have noise restrictions or can't deal with exhaust from equipment. A lot of car detailers could use this in mobile vans and love it becuase it charges between jobs and has enough juice to run all the gear without the endless drone of a gas generator. As I very honestly said in the video, for some this is absolutely ideal and for others it's not a good fit.
i have the NITECORE NPS600 because in my building theres always electrical issues, 1 in the fridge connected to my samsung fridge samsung microwave. the other in my office powering up my samsung tv alienware laptop nitecore batteries and other small electronics. also very rugged not as gigantic like this 1 but i still love this review u made.
Building a house in the next two years, and we've been looking at adding two of these to our resource redundancies. Great review, totally have me sold on it now.
Nice video and interesting, thank you! $5k seems like a whole lot of money when you look at the components piece by piece. You could make one for 1/2 the cost. The battery in that unit is 3600 watt hours and if that is at 12 volts that equals 300 Amp Hour Lithium battery that currently will set you back about $1000, but it will include a BMS (battery management system). Will Prowse here on YT has some excellent videos on a DIY version.
I went to the website I could not find the 8000 watt unit only the 7000 watt for only $17990 cad, holy hell that's expensive could probably build one a heck of a lot cheaper great video though 👍
Awesome review as always. Looks like a pretty cool build, especially if you need something rugged. But... for me, it just reaffirms the need to learn how to DIY these things. You can clone this build for at most 50% of the cost. I'm aware it's not for everyone and this is already a niche product BUT, to anyone who wants one of these - learn to DIY! Study up, read everything, watch Will Prowse, save some dollars! I built one with the same idea (this is just a weatherproof toolbox/pelican case at its core) and it works great. Spent a total of $1200 (although I only need my max surge to be 2000W).
Very cool, I always love anything DIY and then you feel good that you did it yourself. I just did my own well if you saw that one and most people would pay someone else. But there are definitely times and some that just feel they can't do it so at least you have some choices. I am impressed that these guys took this to the level they did, what angers me though is MIlwaukee selling a unit thats for job sites that is not weather sealed at all! Thats crazy
@@rudybmore6809 I think the Titan is more of a permanent choice but I would buy the Ecoflow Delta pro over a titan any day now. They seem to be just another one of those companies that were doing well and kind of just went away now. If you want features and power Ecoflow blew everyone away this year ruclips.net/video/bfWzPPDh2Yg/видео.html but they dont offer a rugged solution.
@@SilverCymbal...Thanks, I heard a lot about the Ecoflow Delta but I saw the Titan power up a small RV plus then the very next day they powered up a small cabin. Can the Ecoflow do that?🤔?
You're so right and if you find that solar charge controller they used its 30 dollar one so I can imagine they are still making pretty good profit on these. My DIY one I have around 3k invested but this also includes misc stuff I ended up not using. But it is in a yellow case like theirs haha. I want to build another but just don't have the time.
Wow $5,000 I will stock my propane tanks to run tri generator on propane, heat, hot water, cook, run engine and vehicle in a pinch. I can stock even more propane locked in propane price for years for this price!!! Fuels will usually go higher! No treating propane it never goes bad! Feb 2022 propane $2.00 a gallon.
$5000? Definitely a worthwhile investment that will pay back ten fold! This thing will be just brilliant in extended power down situations, if you’re going outdoors for an extended period of time, small outdoor events, off-grid and then some. Considering it has an 8000 watt capacity, that’s just outstanding! You can shop around for other multiple smaller units but this thing looks like an absolute beast and seems to be able to take a beating in harsh conditions.
Great review! As an RV owner I always ask why these never come equipped with a 30A receptacle to easily hookup a shore power cable to run the RV air conditioner. A 4000W unit should be able to juice 30A at 120VAC.
I'm pretty sure the initial draw would make this thing shit itself. On paper it should work yeah but in reality that's quite a surge for a very sensitive little thing.
Look up the Titan Which was pretty much king of the hill for a few years with a 30A receptacle. Just recently though, Ecoflow Delta pro came out with one that is even better. There is an entire class of high dollar dollar solar "generators" that a lot of channels haven't talked much about. They mainly focus on Jackery, smaller Blueetti and midrange stuff like Inergy that are more affordable ir portable. But If you want to handle 30A receptacles, expand capacity and be able to integrate into your home's panel during an emergency or push 240V, these bigger ones are the way to go. 2500 to $8000 (and way up!) for for a starting kit depending on if you throw in solar panels, expandable batteries, adapters, and crazy stuff like the Ecoflow comes with a sun tracking solar solar panel frame, and even a freaking integrated gas generator that turns on and off automatically to keep the batteries topped off 😯. Of course people who are capable can build their own for less, but that's not something everybody can or is willing to do thus the reason why these are selling. A mechanical engineer can build their own car, a general contractor can build their own house, and somebody who understands electrical, battery types, charge controllers, and knows where to source all the parts and the tools to put it together could make one of these too. But it's not like assembling an ikea bookshelf so there will always be a market for for these devices that are way more expensive than just the sum of the parts.
When I first starting looking at power inverters, $5k would have made my jaw drop. But considering a decent 3kw can sell between $2-3k and all the other add one and accessories, this is a good deal. I appreciate the comparison to the Milwaukee inverters. The more I see them, the less impressed I am. I feel like they made the product very niche and with a little more work could have had a much more diverse set of uses.
Nice to see a real review on a great product. I had looked at the Milwaukee unit but at over $2K did not seem like a very good deal at all. This, on the other hand, is NOT a toy! I can see it working in so many places, even in the RV where noise is an issue.
True, those babies are 15 years old and definitely looking it. I tried a cheap kit last year and it didn't really work, I will have to give it another try. The ceramic coating I put on earlier this summer still looks great, haven't washed it even once since.
Midland made an ip67 rated 1000w power station built into a pelican style case. .... the PPG1000. They clearanced them out around christmas for $500. I purchased 2 of them.
I remember that one, that was very nice. They should have kept going with it, they may have been a little ahead of their time with that one. What a deal you got too!
lithium iron phosphate isnt all that new. Used initially for motorcycles starting about a decade ago for lighter weight and holding a charge longer, just in the last few years being used for solar storage, electric cars, and power backup.
thank you for another good and informative video. I just wish the product wasn’t so expensive. Perhaps as battery technology gets better the price will come down. It’s nice to see things like this coming on the market though.
@@SilverCymbal Anderson's connectors are good...have them in the ute..one on the bumper for jump starting..roll up engine running and plug it in hook leads to dead car
I bought the Bluetti AC300 with much better rigid solar panels for $2k less. sure it cant be left in the rain but works great with as much and more features
$5k isn’t too far off the mark if you were to itemize the bill of materials. I’m putting together a (fixed) system from Battleborn for my cargo trailer and it’s over $5k (granted it’s got more Ah). Lion Energy’s Safari + Expansion is over $4k but not as durable.
Nice unit price is on the border but need to test for actual results. But from I've seen looks much better than its competitors. And I've there's at convention. Looking forward to testing on out. I'm so glad you expressed the pei. Thanks for the video
This thing is The beast from the east. If you have a lot of disposable income I don’t think there’s a better power station out there now they do have bigger units. And if the biggest unit in this line does not to sell your power needs I’m not sure what we’re probably gonna have to go on the grid for that one
With something like this charging with that kind of current from the alternator, I would recommend upgrading it with a larger one or have a second one installed so it can still charge the battery/batteries at the correct rate and power the vehicle
How much and what are needed for 2 freeze , 1 tv, 3 computer,2 laptop, electric stove, oven, microwave, water heater, blender, electrical hardware, electrical kettle, 1 electrical sofa, 1 electrical, massage chair, 1 electrical bed,1 electrical bath, 1 rice cooker, 1 instant pot ? For eg. Which are durable, cheap, best brands and how many batteries with solars? How much volts or Watts? What are required?
What's the voltage between the 2 hots of the outlets? 0v or 240v? If it's 0 then this is only a 12vdc to 120vac inverter, which is my guess. If it's 240 then this is a 12vdc to 240vac inverter, which would be better but then it's strange they didn't utilize the feature.
I love the River units, all good stuf. This Hybrid Power is absolute awesome but is for a specific customer and needs the extreme durability which is not what most of us need for home.
Thanks for making these great videos. If I win the lottery, I'm buying 4 of these but in the meantime, I just ordered a Montek X1000 which seems like the poor man's version of this awesome kit.
The alternator charging will destroy your alternator in no time. Charging at that amperage will overheat the alternator at idle quickly. At higher rpm you may be ok but I would not charge at idle. I believe victron has a video on this. Other then that I would love that thing.
I'm not sure which I'd rather have: this unit, or the extra money needed to buy it. It looks really cool, but major overkill for me. I definitely could imagine that there are those for whom this would be amazing and worth every penny.
nice but you can build your own if you know how build it wich is what i doing now i just making project with 1500 watts inverter and deep cycle battery 75 amp 900 watts
There seems to be a huge hole in the portable power station market between 1800 watts continuous (the Milwaukee CarryOn) and 5-8000 watts. I hope I’m wrong somehow, but when trying to understand what these batteries are accomplishing for the money, this thing provides 4000 watts continuous, which is exactly what 3 cordless 18v mitre saws consume. And you can power all 3 of those mitre saws for under $400 worth of batteries. Albeit not for very long, but while easily more durable, and more modular so it’s not a single 120lb unit. Now you can get these 18v batteries in 12ah for $240CAD, so is this thing really providing more then 20 of those batteries? My point with these batteries is that configuration seems to be at least half of what you’re paying for.
Definitely and another use they told me is popular is for military teams, they can run radios and gear without making any noise and no more running miles of extension cords.
What you are not telling anyone here that if you hook this up to your car/truck alternator you will destroy the alternator !!! This is TRUE folks. Your automotive alternator is NOT DESIGNED to output large amps for very long. If you try to recharge LiFePO4 batteries that are flat , those batteries will pull every amp your alternator can put out. Your alternator will oblige and give it all its got - and seriously overheat and destroy itself very fast. At most you would not want more then about 15 amps off your alternator continuously for a long period. If you dont believe this go check the yacht forums and lookup high output alternators and all the problems that go with them - its just not as easy as this video is making out.
Correct! Unless you have the $2500 Leece Neville large frame alternator with 100% duty cycle. Motorhomers are installing DC to DC chargers that Renogy and others make to limit charge to 20, 40, and 60 amps and feed LiFeP04 batteries the volts they like..
Sorry but it is correct. None of the devices you listed, not one can be operated in rain. The Montek has a weatherproof case when closed up, but cant be used that way. The others have no protection from any elements.
Wow starting prices at 6000. then up to 9200.00 wow Awesome design like the box! :) I think it would be the best option to get with all the bells and whistles. Plus that solar charger and hooks up to the vehicle engine for an extra charging point is a plus too. Nice Got 9000. it a good choice!
So buy two of them, connect them with a VRS and get a few solar panels, cut your supply and neutral wires upstream of your main power MCB or RCBO, and your off grid by day on solar plus whatevers left for night?
sounds so nice ...just wish S . C . would say on how long will the battery last on some applications . a continue use ... maybe an emergency use . Some type of scenario So many of these are on the market what good is it if it only lasts 2-3 hours emergency situation I'll be bringing on a job site and it lasts 2 hours you still got to get out here power generator that will last 15 hours
My budget is little more than the tax of this unit but it is a nice one if you can afford it. Small power banks and solar gen's do the job for me, I won't be powering any appliances over 100w or so
Good video , thank you.The 120 volt covers are not waterproof once an extension cord is plugged in. Those covers are an old style that are no longer used ( 15yrs) in construction, and have been replaced by a bubble cover which is waterproof with an extension cord plugged in . How long does it take to charge from the alternator or that solar panel ? Important info is missed out in this video, so I can only assume it is a sales pitch.
Bubble covers are as fragile as tin foil in the construction world, they are fine for home use for christmas tree lights, you won't find them on any industrial equipment. The Hubbel ones you seem to think are old are a current and popular product.
@@SilverCymbal Bubble cover is a term we use for the in use style .All metal bubble covers are used in industry commonly. I've been an electrical contractor for over 22yrs so you may have confidence in this statement. A metal in use cover is the TayMac MX3200 and they are plenty strong enough. Oh, and while you are reading, what is the charging time on the alternator and the solar panel ? Thank you
@@SilverCymbal Plastic bubble covers are not fragile as tin foil. They have to be certified and tested by various agencies like underwriters Laboratory to be used in manor to which they are designed. Fragility is not part of the design.

Between this and equivalent solar which do you think is better? I love the fact you can move this unit. Charge off solar or vehicle battery. Price comparison to solar I guess would depend on your solar set up.
I'm happy for this review. But I wanna know whether it can be used under charging. When it's charging and you are also working can there be any problem?
$5K is steep. BUT...I'm thinking of using this on my Freightliner Columbia instead of a gas generator or an APU. It's quiet, has plenty of power for a heater, microwave, refrigerator, TV, coffee maker and charging accessories. Not at the same time of course. The impressive part is the solar charging but more so I can hook it to my batteries and get the amperage charge from the alternator. If the company would offer some type of financing I would be game.
Ok so I just got off the phone with Juliet from customer service. Very nice and extremely informative about the product. For the "extended model" which gives you 4K Watts continuous duty with 3.6kWh batteries, solar and alternator hookup, tax and free shipping it came out to $6290 USD. **NOTE** They do have in-house lease/financing agreements. Terms are subject to your credit. But it's a month out on supply because of this video 🤣🤣! And the ports backlog. I'm going for it 🤗🤗🤗
Really should have 30 AMP RV plug, Bi-Directional USB-C (100 watt), PD USB, USB -B slots, needs regulated DC outputs. Should advise if the batteries can be charged from multiple sources at the same time and can it act as a UPS?
forget 8kW this is peak, builtin is a 4kW Inverter. Ecoflow is good but expensive, but take the Delta Pro, you have 3.6kW Inverter, 3.6 kWh capacity, high watts solar input, fast charching and a bunch of other outlets and features for a cheaper price
Why do they call it hybrid, if it is only a battery? I would expect it to be a battery combined with some other source of power, like a gasoline generator...
It’s hybrid charging options. Ins and outs. As u can see u can start car from it and charge the battery from car... that’s where ur EXTRA GASOLINE CHARGE stands, instead of car connect next to it cheap good gasoline generator and charge this hybrid to run it all as much as u like so it’s pretty hybrid they don’t mention possibilities of custom adds there always something behind...
I would only want one if they would also sell me several replacement proprietary parts inside of it like spare circuit boards. In a Mad Max scenario I don’t wanna require repairs from a different country.
Great video! Very nice piece of equipment! Sorry for my ignorance, but I don’t know what is meant by the efficiency percentage rating. How long is the runtime if using 4000 watts continuously?
3600 Watt/Hours is the stated capacity. 4000 watts continuously at 86% efficiency is less than an hour. To be more precise, 46 minutes and 26.4 seconds if my math is right.
Nice power station. If I had the money and hadn't piecemealed a similar system in basic specs without the rugged features then I 'd go for something like this over other lipo4 power station units due to it's portability with rugged protection. Sure, something could be made DYI which might roughly mirror what this power station could do...the issue on my end would be cramming my system into a case, field testing it and insuring that it could withstand similar elements which would take time and personal labor. Like it.

@@TheUserid82 Thank you for the clarification. Good point.
$ 5340 + 12% tax ($650) makes it a $ 6000 unit. 10 year life cycle = $ 600/year on cost.

I guess if your time is free and your build quality is the equivalent.
It seems like the perfect thing for all my needs I just can't afford that price, I suppose I'll just have to add this one to the list of dreams.
That sounds like night and day compared to the Milwaukee unit!. Thank you so much for the excellent review.
Built in Canada! They sure build stuff well
I went to the website I could not find the 8000 watt unit only the 7000 watt for only $17990 cad, holy hell that's expensive could probably build one a heck of a lot cheaper great video though 👍
This is the link to the unit I showed hybridps.ca/collections/portable-power-packs. They have a lot of models
Thats crazy
@@SilverCymbal...Okay what your thoughts on the HYBRID POWER STATION vs TITAN SOLAR GENERATOR (Inverter & Battery)??🤔??
@@rudybmore6809 I think the Titan is more of a permanent choice but I would buy the Ecoflow Delta pro over a titan any day now.

10 fold? that's $50k

Great review! As an RV owner I always ask why these never come equipped with a 30A receptacle to easily hookup a shore power cable to run the RV air conditioner. A 4000W unit should be able to juice 30A at 120VAC.
Yea I always asked that same question.
But it's not like assembling an ikea bookshelf so there will always be a market for for these devices that are way more expensive than just the sum of the parts.
one good thing about stuff made for the US military is that it has to be made here.
I'd imagine Canada has similar rules.
Yeah that is a steep premium.
Canadian Military will prefer Canadian first but are willing to go elsewhere if needed.
$5k seems like a lot because it is!! Other than that this would be great for a few extra days of boondocking and not have ti listen to a generator.
Gas 3600 running watts at tractor supply. Paid 347usd delivered.
300 AH at 12v = 3600WH is around 1200 bucks
Nice to see a real review on a great product. I had looked at the Milwaukee unit but at over $2K did not seem like a very good deal at all. This, on the other hand, is NOT a toy! I can see it working in so many places, even in the RV where noise is an issue.
I think you need a video in restoring those truck headlights
True, those babies are 15 years old and definitely looking it. I tried a cheap kit last year and it didn't really work, I will have to give it another try. The ceramic coating I put on earlier this summer still looks great, haven't washed it even once since.

Very nice unit but too pricey. Great review!
Great video. Disappointed that there is no 30A RV receptical.
With something like this charging with that kind of current from the alternator, I would recommend upgrading it with a larger one or have a second one installed so it can still charge the battery/batteries at the correct rate and power the vehicle

It's a modern version of the Edison battery. Very good idea!
I think I will stick with my little units. Echo river backed up by a 65 hundred watt generator. and a littlre A. I. P. inverter generator for camping

Impressive !!! Thank you for the information
Wow , wow, WOW! And easy to go rolling any where! Where to buy?!??
this would be great for film sets powering lights. no more loud and obnoxious generators
Definitely and another use they told me is popular is for military teams, they can run radios and gear without making any noise and no more running miles of extension cords.
Not really, how long would a 5,000w generator power a 4,000w light for? Maybe an hour?
Motorhomers are installing DC to DC chargers that Renogy and others make to limit charge to 20, 40, and 60 amps and feed LiFeP04 batteries the volts they like..
the Milwaukee is NOT the only other ruggedized power station
There's also the Montek briefcase and the Ego Nexus.
Ryobi and DeWalt arguably as well.

I'm going for it 🤗🤗🤗
WOW, it does seem like the best! Thanks
I could mount this under a truck bed. And have my own version of the Ford generator system
The flex of the front panel is a little disappointing at that 4,206.55 u

I noticed that too
I would only want one if they would also sell me several replacement proprietary parts inside of it like spare circuit boards. In a Mad Max scenario I don’t wanna require repairs from a different country.
This was a cool video, thanks for sharing!
Thank you Thomas. I had the same question Roger.
That’s if your using 89% longer if your using half or less
Nice power station. If I had the money and hadn't piecemealed a similar system in basic specs without the rugged features then I 'd go for something like this over other lipo4 power station units due to it's portability with rugged protection. Sure, something could be made DYI which might roughly mirror what this power station could do...the issue on my end would be cramming my system into a case, field testing it and insuring that it could withstand similar elements which would take time and personal labor. Like it.
