I am SOOOOO close to switching to metric. I’ve been trying to learn all the geeky stuff of dive planning on paper and imperial sucks so bad as a diver.

Every time I see someone talking about transmitters vs spg they say spg are cheap all the ones I see are at least $80+ most $100+ and some you have to get the hose separately so extra cost there as well. I just want to know where everyone else get their spg at such good prices.

I hear what you are saying, however lets say is 120,- USD with the hose and the single ender. That is still way cheaper than the transmitter. But the point we were making was not based on price. That was just one small argument against a transmitter. The more strong arguments are the ones on the use and simplicity of an SPG and the benefits of an analog dail and the proactive approach that will ensure a thinking divers. And not just a passive diver reading numbers and accepting them without a further thought. And even though there are divers who ignore the fancy data the transmitter in combo with the computer provide, and do think about their gas consumption proactiveley, I would still advise a standard SPG, as this can be used for other cases like checking your pressure before a dive by just opening the cylinder, and not having to turn on your computer for this. As well as checking the function of an aging SPG. Maybe this video will help you understand why we choose to dive with a analog SPG: ruclips.net/video/k4s68Qf6QpY/видео.html

I just found an SPG with hose on eBay for 69€. Cannot post the link here since it gets deleted by YT

Comment on the comment made at 7:30 here... NAUI teaches “neutral” from the start. No touching the bottom from day one. Yes, it can be done, and doing so consistently proves to make far better divers both in the short run and in the long run. So yes, there is an agency that does that. NAUI.

Comment on the comments made at 33:00 in... It is arguably subjective to imply back mount is “better” in this particular type of situation, and evidence presented supporting that position would be anecdotal. There are a ton of reasons one could argue for or against one or the other, and any position taken by an individual selecting one over the other can be influenced by a large number of factors-e.g. physical capabilities or limitations, accessibility or lack of for the opposite equipment configuration, training and/or specialization, and even personal preferences.

44:50 30ft -> 9m :) It’s a tiny laps of memory, I’m sure, but knowing general conversions in you head and being able to cite them consistently, is not only essential in diving and emergency procedures/problem solving, it also matters when teaching students and addressing an audience. The Law of Primacy is always in effect. As an instructor, or a teacher, or a professor, mentor, or even a person in a position of authority, it is imperative to never give bad information to others potentially hearing it for the first time.
