Cake give more coin each serving but takes a little longer to cook. Also tip, you can use a freezer to throw a whole cake and the tin will duplicate when the day finishes 😉
Not sure if you guys noticed it later in the video, but customers don't order a specific item, they order a flavor. If you see chocolate you can give them either a cookie or a cake edit: Guess you did figure it out eventually, it's quite confusing as it's so different from the rest of the game.
You can see the price of each item by paying attention of the money they give you as you deliver the item. Brownie worth 3 Coffee Cake worth 5 Chocolate dan Coffee Cookie worth 3
As a person living and born in England I can confirm that we do not use cake as an overarching branch. Something sweet you eat after your meal is desert/pudding, a cake is either a big crumby cake or a little cupcake, a cookie is a soft round cookie and a biscuit is a hard cookie. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ABOUT HOW TO PRONOUNCE SCONE 😂
I'm only half way through the video so I dunno if you figure it out eventually, but the customers order by flavor, like the first card says. That means you can bake them whatever you want as long as it has the right flavor. Edit: Nevermind, I got to the point you where you get it lol
I find it to be pretty absurd in this game that NPCs can order chocolate, coffee, or lemon and that players can serve them cookies, cake, or brownies as interchangeable options. NO RESTAURANT ACTUALLY WORKS LIKE THIS!
I kind of enjoy this super confusing method of ordering where the customers just pick a flavour, since it allows you to prioritise whether you want to make more money, more slices, or just pick whichever you'd rather eat. It allows for a even more replayability since you can go through the Bakery again but only making cakes, or trying to make different things every day. I will admit however that it's not explained well enough by the game on its own
On the matter of brownies, eveyone likes a differnt kind of brownie. Some want a slighlty less cakie brownie while others want goo. I personally like just a thin layer of crunch on the top with a cooked through middle that is still soft. If it has melted anything, it has to be chocolate for me. Uncooked batter in unappealing to me. I have a brother that loves partly cooked goods, so I get why Ash likes that.
21:32 hey i appreciate that mention, even though i don't fully get the context bc the other day i walked into your baldur's gate stream probably at the worst timing possible for my repulsed ace ass and haven't got the courage to walk back into yet lol
Yeah, it's a strange restaurant. But in terms of game mechanics, this feels very nice. You get more complexity with more flavours, so it's balanced by reducing the number of customers. When you get a new cake shape, the complexity stays the same, but you get more flexibility, hence why the number of customers increase.
I'm with Ash on the brownies - I always make my brownies in a smaller pan than is called for so they're thick. That way, you get the nice crunchy edges, but the middle stays perfectly gooey
It might not be super intuitive but my understanding of it was that it's always cake batter because the base is the same and it changes what food it is depending on what you put it in (cookies in cookie tray, cake in cake tin, brownies in brownie pan etc) then add flavors. I just don't know why it starts with cookies instead of cake other than I guess they cook faster?
Baldur is also spelled Balder and Baldr, and is a god from Norse mythology (but is also probably heavily christinized as is a lot of what we "know" about norse mythology, check out overly sarcastic productions for more info)
You should save the first upgrade desk you get. If you buy one it lowers the chance of getting another upgrade desk. If you can get one upgrade desk saved and one to buy you can upgrade the upgrade desk to get a few good things like the blueprint desk which will cycle through items during the day allowing you do pick one of your shop items or a copy desk to copy a blueprint.
Cookie tray is 120, Cake Tin is 60. Weird pricing. Also... while I wouldn't want a restaurant with crud and garbage all over the floor, do you want a restaurant where the floors are soggy as you walk over them?
I was just wondering when they finally figured out that the flavor is what you need and it doesn't matter if you give them a cookie or cake you just need the flavor.
they give you 3 mixing bowls and a single cookie sheet to start but realistically you could easily get away with just a single mixing bowl to start but you need like 3 cookie sheets so I really wonder if that was another mistake besides the calling them cakes when they are cookies. Also I wonder if they were originally gonna be cupcakes when they started programming them and then ran out of time to make the cupcake pan it so just relabled them cookies and made a cookie sheet instead cause the cookie sheet looks kinda unfinished to me and the cookies themselves are much smaller than I'd expect for an entire meal. I'd rather they just make them like retextured pizza cause cookie cakes are awesome
soo this is a common mistake.. they don't order a cookie/sponge cake/donuts/cupcake/ect they order Chocolate/Coffee/Lemon they order a Flavour. *Am currently 30 minutes in but i had to comment this* please give it an extra try. the discord is full of comments about how this is broken. it's not. it's different: Flavour not type
As someone on the Ace spectrum (aroace to be specific) i was actually so happy to hear you validating the Ace identity and experience! However, then at 23:44 Jaz said "he just needs time [...] He's a slow burner" which is one of the most annoying things to hear as an asexual person and feels very invalidating. I'm fairly certain that Jaz didn't mean it like that because you all seem like really nice people, so I just wanted to let you all know in case you didn't know :)
As someone who is also Ace, I actually find myself feeling annoyed (and invalidated) when people automatically assume that just because someone is Asexual they will never, ever, be interested in experiencing physical intimacy with someone. So many people seem to equate Asexuality with a total aversion to sex, when all it means is that you don't experience sexual attraction. Basically, everybody needs to remember that it is a spectrum, and people who identify as Ace are individuals. We don't all fit into one neat little basket! Not at all trying to have a go at you @j75pootle, just wishing that more people understood what being Ace actually means. I get so tired of the not completely sex averse people being told that we're 'not Ace enough'.
@@Bindi342 I completely agree with you! I think we're interpreting what Jaz said in different ways. I thought she meant that he just needs time to be interested, i.e. to experience sexual attraction (which is half true for demis but not for the rest of the spectrum). Whereas I think you're interpreting it as purely to do with sex, which is then fair for you to pull me up on what you thought I was saying
@j75pootle Glad you weren't upset by my comment. I always get worried that I've said too much after posting, and then end up dreading the responses. I do love that asexuality seems to be getting mentioned more often these days, and not just as a joke or in a 'poor them' sort of tone. I'm afraid that I've just been feeling a bit miffed with some sections of the Ace community in fandom recently. The final straw was seeing one say that they were disappointed in their fellow Acespec fans who were happy that two characters (who are very much in love) that are often assumed to be Ace themselves, finally kissed. I just thought, 'really? Disappointed? Because some people have a different opinion than you? Besides, a kiss isn't inherently sexual!'
I think there was a little misunderstanding - Jas and I were talking about Gale and poking fun at our experience with him in BG3. She wasn't talking about Ace people in general. But i 100% agree with how ace/demi/aro people have felt and experienced the "they just need time" comments. It shows a lack of knowledge and understanding. And you 100% valid in your feelings too. Just know that me and everyone here at Stumpt see the A part of LGBQIA2+ and you are welcome here! (Aenne)
@@stumpt I was almost certain it was a misunderstanding cause I've seen your stances and attitudes towards similar things, but I just wanted to check in case you weren't as informed on ace stuff. Thanks for the clarification!
Edit: Okay I realized you figured it out in the end, my friend and I definitely didn't and ended up just not serving the cakes once they unlocked lol. I learned the other day that it's based off the flavour not type. So if you made coffee cake you could have sold that instead of the cookies. Haven't finished the video yet so I'm not sure if you figure this out by the end lol. The instructions were VERY unclear for this whole update lol. Also I saw someone else comment but if you buy a freezer and then leave a tray of cookies in there overnight you get a free cookie tray(they're like 120 otherwise)
I really disliked the bakery update. I got cupcakes as a second menu item and no one ordered it. These food items did not work well for me. Those recipes were overly confusing.
Apparently they order flavors and not the specific item (which is hella confusing, i know!). If you have anything chocolate, be it brownie, cake, cookie or cupcake and they order chocolate, you can give them any of those option. Same with other flavors. Which honestly made it a lot easier than we thought as the cake and brownies for example has multiple servings, but it's really unclear and not explained at all!
@@pabel22 haha yeah we took that as they would order cake, cookies etc by flavor, not that the flavor would satisfy anything you would give them as long as the flavor was right 😂
Cake give more coin each serving but takes a little longer to cook.
Also tip, you can use a freezer to throw a whole cake and the tin will duplicate when the day finishes 😉
I can imagine that whoever walks into this bakery SAYS they want a cake but they only want a single cookie
the thing is that they are only asking for a specific flavour not what kind of dessert. ITs confusing lol

Ash with the 400 IQ had me floored! This man is brilliant!
In the UK at least, cakes and biscuits are definitely different things. Just ask the makers of jaffa cakes.
Jaffa cakes are an outlier, cakes are the same as in the US. Biscuits are hard, cookies are softer

It seems like cookie are 3 coins. Cakes are 5 coins. And brownies are 3 coins. So just use both.😅
I'm with Ash on the brownies - I always make my brownies in a smaller pan than is called for so they're thick. That way, you get the nice crunchy edges, but the middle stays perfectly gooey
"there are plenty of ways to mess up cookies" yeah... my sister once made cookies that melted off the pan and into the bottom of the oven.
My dad used to make peanutbutter chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. I can never make them the same and he forgot the recipe.

If they used pastries instead of cakes, it would be easily understood.
To Aenne's question around 28:10 for D&D: Rock Gnome Wizard
Maybe it’s not that cake=cookies but cookies=cake
46:42 I know that feeling, Aenna.
