The show supposed to be a parody of anime. It should be more funny for people who know anime, but it's still quite funny on it's on. If you like One Punch you would love Mob Psycho 100. They are created by the same guy.
I had never heard the english dub for this anime before, it sounds pretty good to me! And it will help make it a new way to experience it alongside you, really looking forward for more!

One Punch has a very interesting back story, it was created by an amateur manga artist called "One" as a web comic, the art is very rough, but it was created as a comedy and professional manga artists loved it, it was also hugely popular, so a professional artist approached "One" and asked if he could do the art for it for Jump, "One" agreed and there is now the webcomic and the jump comic, One's art has improved quite a bit, but the professional artist is the guy behind eye shield 21. Anyways season 1 of the anime was done by Mad House and the people there love the manga so much that they were all super passionate about doing it, so every episode has amazing animation well beyond the budget, just because the artists find the manga really enjoyable. Season 2 is done by another studio sadly and the quality does drop, but Season 1 is amazing.

I've been here since your Rick and Morty reactions though I went little radio-silent after GF ended so now I at least have reason to be more active 😉 Also here's some non-spoilery info about the show you might find interesting. As you've noticed, this anime is mostly comedy focused and also pretty much a parody of the superhero genre (though it still has some serious moments). There are also quite a few references sprinkled throughout. For example The Vaccine man design is based off of Piccolo from DBZ and as you've might have guessed the giant brother was one big (no pun intended) reference to the Attack on Titan. The anime itself It is based of a manga by Yusuke Murata wich is based on the webcomics by ONE (though the illustration in that one is pretty poor ngl) and the studio animating it is Madhouse (at least the first season is but we get to that later) who also did Death Note, Hunter x Hunter or Black Lagoon. Anyway, I'm sure you're gonna enjoy this show and I'm all here for it 😉
Sub is waaay better. I understand that dub is also good, but really, the original voice acting is suuuuuuuper good. Dub is like 1/2 of the original VA.
For reaction purposes, would rather hear you react to the dub. Not into trying to read subtitles while simultaneously paying attention to the action in the scene AND your responses. Dub is just easier when my focus is already split.
It never ceases to amaze me how people prefer dub over sub. The dub just doesn't do one punch man justice. It simply doesn't. There are puns and jokes that you wouldn't get otherwise.
Fun fact, the voice of that big titan guy was the voice of Eren Jager from Attack on Titan. I did some research and it turns out that the dub pulls voices from the very monsters and characters they parody on several occasions. Take a look into it and it will surprise you.
Season 1 of this show had some seriously well known people from the anime industry. They had a lot of passion for the original creation so they worked together to create season 1. Unfortunately they couldn't all come together on season 2 so the quality isn't as good (still good quality on average, just first season is just movie quality animation). Also look forward to the theme song in Episode 2 it is fire.
The studio gathered a bunch of the best animators to work on one punch man, and they all contributed different scenes in the first episode. This is why the art and animation style noticeably changes many times in this episode, especially in the last fight. You're watching a group effort of the top talents in anime!
This is the first anime I'll ever watch and it would be cool to watch it along side with you! I really like the protagonist, it's just a nice change of pace to have someone as main character, who has to learn to feel more instead of either being too energetic and bubbly or being frustrated all the time. And I am not sure about the guy at the end either, I guess he'll be maybe the big villain or something. A thought that I had during my watch of this episode is how awesome it would be if One punch man finds a good friend and then this friend slowly turns into a villain, because then there would also be an emotional component for him.
This is a pretty fun series. Keeps reminding me that I'm dragging my feet on watching the second season. This is one anime where I don't think sub or dub matters much at all. Both are done extremely well.

The comedy is the best part of the show. The different ways they draw him are so great, from the simple hapless Charlie Brown drawings to the super detailed Serious Mode style. Series starts a little slow but the laughs are always there.

I feel like a lot of people hate dubs because subbed version comes much earlier than dubbed, so instead of waiting they end up watching sub anyway, and after that, they become too familiar with the Japanese voices of anime characters, that when they watch the same show in dub they expect the dub voices of characters to sound exactly the same as Japanese and whey they didn't match, they start hating on dub and when other people see this they think if so many people are saying dubs are bad, then this must be true and then these people also start hating on dubs, without even watching it once. And the whole "subs sound better" is also because all the subtards can detect the slight problem in English voice acting because they can actually understand it, but in Japanese, if something is bad they can't detect because they don't know the Japanese language. I think Dub and Sub are both great, and voice actors of both, put in a great deal of effort to voice-act their characters, that's why there is nothing wrong with watching the show in the language you know.
