  • After a brutal opener for many, there is still a lot to look forward to as the bears start to come off the acorns and the cooler temps are setting in.

We only guide the first week of September, as statically a majority of the bear harvested in the state of Minnesota are taken within the first week (in an average year) also partly due to expenses. It takes a lot of time and money to run that many baits for the duration of the entire season. But moreover, we also operate guided upland bird hunting, and small- game opens up tomorrow! And our dogs are chomping at the bit, ready to hit the timber lol.

At my place we've had a record year for acorns. I don't know if I've ever seen so many.

The acorn crop was ridiculous this year! Our trees were dropping not because it was time, but because it has been so dry this year. Considering how dry it's been, we were surprised by the amount. We have never seen this many either!
