The lord just spoke to my heart and told me I need to have that car......Wow that car is well done, big coin spent there. I gotta get an rb motor in my 240,thanks for posting.
my favorite Z. i was thinking about this swap for my '71 years ago, but took a different direction. but this car is ultimate. and driven. extra kudos man. you are truly after my own heart.
Man your car is my favorite 240z ever since I saw it when I googled to search some info and found yours saw your build come together and later saw it on magazine well done great clean Z.
Cars like this are why I want a Z so bad. The body/wheel color combo, the RB26DETT, the bars for chassis rigidity and the stripped-yet-still-daily-driver-friendly interior are all what I want in a car like this. So... So jealous...
those are custom shaped fender flares. They started life as some old 1980s era FG parts (not sure where they came from) but we ended up doing a lot of reshaping to get them to fit the lines of the car. Having perfect wheel fit is also part of the reason they work.
what a beautiful ride, I'll probably own one in a couple of years hopefully. im in an e46 m3, it is an amazing ride but it isnt my "project car" that ill be working on for a while.
Cool modification which I can appreciate. I owned the original Janspeed 240Z back in 1983 and hung license plates on it so I could drive it to the track and race.
Seriously dude, beautiful car!!! I love the fact that you but an RB in there as well and not those damn v8's. IMO, the seats are a little to much, but it's your car. I'm just more into that "almost factory look".Once again, very nice job and congrats on a sweet ride!!!
Wow, beautiful car! I am a new initiate in loving old Z cars! I see you're a Texan, too. I live in Waco & just recently bought my first, an 83 280ZX. It's my daily driver, I love it, but I didn't have any idea how much attention this thing would attract! I've actually been pulled over by someone who just wanted to look & talk! And my ZX isn't even that nice within 10 feet or so! Anyway, I'm saving & trying to advance in my career in aviation maintenance cause I want a 240Z now! Crazy!
Incredible build! Looks like an easy $50,000-75,000 in parts and labor easily and it looks like it was done with no shortcuts taken. The only thing I dont like are the massive wheels, it would look absolutely breathtaking on some 16" or 17" BBS mesh wheels! Impeccable build, wow.
It's very simple: rollcage, Sparco seats, stock console and dash, CF door panels, a few small custom CF pieces, and alcantera glued directly to the floors, tunnel, and inner panels
i haven't run the VQ yet. I'm still building the car. But I expect it to net out better. It's lighter, it's shorter so it fits behind front suspension, is a liter larger, and has much better US support.
Congratss on the entire rebuild. You must have spent a substantial amount to it.I'm afraid to ask how much.If I had the money rebuilding cars would be my hobby as well....Sleek,sweet, Nice!!
@TheHashBot It's completely fine to put music when showing off your car. I have no problem with that but it's just pointless to put it over the sound of anything especially a great sounding rb
quick tip, dont fight against the steering wheel in the corners...countersteer and have the time of your life, drifting is where its at bro lol. slide that beast!
well it's a technicality. I originally bought an R33 engine. But the block is a Nismo N1 block from Nissan which is used in an R34. And almost all the remaining internal parts are replaced.
Love it! And your camera is insane quality! What Brand/model is your camera/recorder? The engine setup on this is perfect in my eyes, i love the twins over the singles =)
yes- big one- Too few options for parts and support here in the US. Know what you're doing or stick with a more common motor. It's a beast of a motor but not easy to maintain for track beatings.
i have to ask. I have a 280 and I love the interior of your 240, the one that got me was the steering wheel. I love the Sparco wheel and was wondering what the set up was on it? i'm looking at getting a Sparco but was wanting a quick release set up on it.
This is one of the coolest Z's I've ever seen. I plan on doing my own classic Z build someday. Where can I find more info about your build? I tried the URL at the end, but it didn't work.
absolutely beautiful, I have a 75' 280 and they are too much fun. if I can ask what type of rims those are though with te dimensions because I'm seriously looking at that style of rim. but I love the almost completely one off of everything in it your Z makes them look so badass!
how did you get those fender flares to look so nice? can't believe how well the flow with the rest of the car. looks better than stock. a rare thing imo
Very nice! I just picked up an original 1 owner 72 240z that I would like to do a resto mod similar to yours. Where those fender flares custom made/welded on? How wide can you go on that setup? Also, are you on manual steering or assisted? Just message me if you can. Sweet ride again! :)
*PLEASE NOTE* I have not read any previous comments on this video what so ever nor have I made it past 00.30 seconds into this vid .....with that said "THAT IS EASILY, IF NOT THE BEST THEN ONE OF THE MOST BAD ASS 240Zs I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THIS PLANET......A TRUE GOD AMONG CARS....... SMFH JEEEEZUS THATS ABSOLUTELY FKING AMAZING. MAKES MY 240z LOOK LIKE A PARTS CAR AT U PULL IT OR SOMETHIN LOL
How did the rb work? Do you have a stock axle and what kind of drive shaft did you use? Also is the wiring that much of a nightmare that everyone says?
Absolutely the GOLD standard of 240Z's. No debate. A beautiful work of functional art.
This is the single best looking Z I have ever seen. Beautiful work on the flares, very clean all the way through.
This has got to be one the cleanest classic garage built rides that actually "FUNCTION" on the net.Beautiful.
Such a beautifully done car. I like the in depth build stories you've shared on your blog as well. I envy your talent.
the music reminds me of gran turismo, but never has the game had a car as beautiful as this. absolute, unparallelled, timeless, perfection.
Man your car is my favorite 240z ever since I saw it when I googled to search some info and found yours saw your build come together and later saw it on magazine well done great clean Z.
Gorgeous car, Please post more video's with Pure Engine sounds and we will all love you for it.
wow really impressive. it looks factory the job is so clean. your 240z truly is a dream. please post more videos of it!
I like how clean the outside is and the underside looks like it is being used, not parked for show.
Amazing looking build. Piano music reminds me of classic Gran Turismo
I really enjoyed that cool raw video, nice added features nice job on that custom exhaust
That is a proper 240Z! I hope to do build one with an RB26DETT swap as well. If mine comes out even half as good as yours I'll be happy.
That gotta be one of the cleanest 240z swaps I have seen.
This Is my favorite 240z setup,...I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! I wish I had the money to set mine up like this!!!
Cars like this are why I want a Z so bad. The body/wheel color combo, the RB26DETT, the bars for chassis rigidity and the stripped-yet-still-daily-driver-friendly interior are all what I want in a car like this.

Great job on the build... quality work. Done right these builds are not cheap.
those are custom shaped fender flares. They started life as some old 1980s era FG parts (not sure where they came from) but we ended up doing a lot of reshaping to get them to fit the lines of the car. Having perfect wheel fit is also part of the reason they work.
This Z is seriously amazing! Great work, man!
what a beautiful ride, I'll probably own one in a couple of years hopefully.

Cool modification which I can appreciate. I owned the original Janspeed 240Z back in 1983 and hung license plates on it so I could drive it to the track and race.
hands down the sexyest 240 ive ever seen, great job on the build!!
Seriously dude, beautiful car!!! I love the fact that you but an RB in there as well and not those damn v8's. IMO, the seats are a little to much, but it's your car. I'm just more into that "almost factory look".Once again, very nice job and congrats on a sweet ride!!!
I think this is the Eleanor of 240Zs.
Wow, beautiful car! I am a new initiate in loving old Z cars! I see you're a Texan, too. I live in Waco & just recently bought my first, an 83 280ZX. Mark,,, i still have that Article they did on Superstreet on your Ride !! man you built that motor from the ground up
Bro.. Your car is a god damn work of art.. You've inspired me to build one! haha
My dream car, keep it in good shape!
Are you crazy? The wheels are perfect
Now this is the PROPER engine to swap into a 240Z.. Not some glorified pickup truck motor!
It's very simple: rollcage, Sparco seats, stock console and dash, CF door panels, a few small custom CF pieces, and alcantera glued directly to the floors, tunnel, and inner panels
@Consolol I agree. It has the read design of a classic muscle car, and a unique front.
I seriously want this exact same setup! :D
Thanks for the video. I remember reading about this car online and I believe modified mag.
O_O I guess I am going to purchase a datsun now. Its like love at first sight.
What a nice piece of History!!!!
this is the 240z i see EVERYWHERE on the interwebs!
i haven't run the VQ yet. I'm still building the car. But I expect it to net out better. It's lighter, it's shorter so it fits behind front suspension, is a liter larger, and has much better US support.
omg iabsolutly best old z i have ever seen!
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! I wish I had the money to set mine up like this!!!
So many things you can do with a Datsun!! thats why im going to buy one!!
Thats hella clean for a '71, good job.
its a wonderful day in the neighborhood a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Nice friggin' Z!
Lovely car! My one criticism would be the 2 exhausts, I'd have stuck with one.
dual exhaust on a rb 26 that sick and so u can lower it more man nice job
that car has graced the background of my computer many times. now I know who's it is
I have a running RB20 swap in my 83 S130, you should come up to Dallas and cruise sometime sir.
Nice man. Awesome car, great job.
beautiful job god bless that is a real project.

You Sir, must be a happy man.
omg this 240z is gorgeous
@TheHashBot It's completely fine to put music when showing off your car. I have no problem with that but it's just pointless to put it over the sound of anything especially a great sounding rb
This car is a god damn masterpiece...
Wow that car is amazing
That car looks awesome. The video definitely could've sat around to get some revisions before posting though. It was a little too long.
quick tip, dont fight against the steering wheel in the corners...countersteer and have the time of your life, drifting is where its at bro lol. slide that beast!
Very nice I'm thinking of doing a RB swap in my '71 just wondering how much work was involved in doing it
well it's a technicality. I originally bought an R33 engine. But the block is a Nismo N1 block from Nissan which is used in an R34. And almost all the remaining internal parts are replaced.
Perfection. So solid.
such a beautiful car.
This is the most perfect built Z's I've ever seen. Not to nit pick but I'd have gone with red jk. Trade ya my 510 and a kidney
dream car right here! theres one for sale but i cant afford it at the moment :(
beautifal car!!
Love it! And your camera is insane quality! What Brand/model is your camera/recorder?
The engine setup on this is perfect in my eyes, i love the twins over the singles =)
Mark....you have built a wonderful S30. Where did you source the flares?
I love the music on this video
what an awesome car!
So beautiful. What's with the horizontally mounted intercooler, though?
yes- big one- Too few options for parts and support here in the US. Know what you're doing or stick with a more common motor. It's a beast of a motor but not easy to maintain for track beatings.
i have to ask. I have a 280 and I love the interior of your 240, the one that got me was the steering wheel. I love the Sparco wheel and was wondering what the set up was on it? i'm looking at getting a Sparco but was wanting a quick release set up on it.
there is a track 20m south of austin called Harris Hill Road.
This is one of the coolest Z's I've ever seen. I plan on doing my own classic Z build someday. Where can I find more info about your build? I tried the URL at the end, but it didn't work.
Looks like some great work! Did the exhaust pipes get a bit squashed or is that an illusion?
out of all the Z's the 240 does it for me!
this is beautiful!!
absolutely beautiful, I have a 75' 280 and they are too much fun. if I can ask what type of rims those are though with te dimensions because I'm seriously looking at that style of rim. but I love the almost completely one off of everything in it your Z makes them look so badass!
how did you get those fender flares to look so nice? can't believe how well the flow with the rest of the car. looks better than stock. a rare thing imo
Beauty of a car, not a fan of the plastic oil cap though :/
How fast can a 1/4 mile be driven in this car?
beautiful machine
Music is way to loud! You can't enjoy the sound of the car. Beautiful car and looks like it was done very well. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice! I just picked up an original 1 owner 72 240z that I would like to do a resto mod similar to yours. Where those fender flares custom made/welded on? How wide can you go on that setup? Also, are you on manual steering or assisted? Just message me if you can. Sweet ride again! :)
Gorgeous machine.
@markrolston that's awesome, where did you find an r34 rb?? All the JDM engine dealers online only have the R32 or 33
*PLEASE NOTE* I have not read any previous comments on this video what so ever nor have I made it past 00.30 seconds into this vid .....with that said "THAT IS EASILY, IF NOT THE BEST THEN ONE OF THE MOST BAD ASS 240Zs I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THIS PLANET......A TRUE GOD AMONG CARS....... +EBE316 A DATSUN 240GTR!!!
I have been searching for you and you car for a long time bud one question what did you use to set up you're dash cluster
Man that's a beautifully finished car, how long did the build take you?
@XxBillyGoatNinjaxX Where do you see SX? It just says Datsun 240Z on the glove box.
How did you redo the interior? It looks very nice, though obviously not remotely stock, or oem.
How did the rb work? Do you have a stock axle and what kind of drive shaft did you use? Also is the wiring that much of a nightmare that everyone says?
