I recently started to follow these videos and the content is very informative. This kind of humor here is just awesome. I am having fun with these tutorials. Greetings from Hungary.
The reason why our instruments are loading so slow is that you have to disable Windows virus scanning for your sample libraries. Go to Settings -> Privacy & security -> Windows security -> Virus & threat protection settings -> Exclusions and there set up your system so thet your computer won't scan your sample libraries (+Add exclusion -> your library locations) and you're done. Super fast loading times.
Hello Marc Jovani! Your professional preparation and the amount of work you put into the videos, thereby helping your fellow musicians who are less prepared, are admirable. Thank you very much! Tommy Galantay from Hungary, Budapest
I have worked like this for a few years, however I never directly use my master project template. My master has folderised score order orchestral instruments then synths, guitars, vocals, etc. All disabled. No routing, no group tracks, no fox. When composing I load a fresh project with nothing in it. I then use Import tracks from my master project (I keep a template and a project called Master Template) then I grab what I need and import into the virgin project. No clutter, no Vepro, no extra Ram used. Importing takes seconds. All my instruments ar in the master template. 26000 tracks load in seven seconds.
How do I get Cubase to display the individual channel EQ cuts from the mix console like Marc does? Even after adding eq (pressing the e button), it doesn't show on the overall mixconsole view at the top like his at 20:21 for example?
I looked it up and there is a setting in cubase called specify a Delay Compensation Threshold in the Preferences. In Reaper they have it set so it automatically to adjust for each fx chain, and there is even an option to adjust the master separate if needed. You should check out these 3 parallel plugins, Parallel particles, Parallel aggressor and I Heart NY compressor
This is awesome! I've been experimenting a lot with templates, and up to now the 16 track multi timbral kontakt instances just don't seem to do the trick for me. Lately I've been saving a lot of instrument tracks as Track Archives in Cubase, and I can just drag them in by ctrl + shift + a. Quite efficient to quickly get the instruments I want, but not have an overloaded template. Thanks for the tips again Marc!
Very cool and informative! Love the idea of having things disabled/enabled in Cubase and ditching Vienna completely. What are the save times like on your template? Do you enable/disable auto save?
I have a modular template, with empty kontakt instances, some sketch tracks and that's it. Honestly i tried to work with loaded templates before but i just find it highly inconvinient. I have like 30 empty percussion tracks, 30 for string, 30 for brass and so on. All the types bussed together as they should be, multiple sends with reverbs etc, even a 2bus for orchestra in case i want to add another one for electronic or metal tracks. I understand that everyone works different, but i seriously don't see how a massive template makes it easier. You spend more time on finding shit than you would spend loading shit. Also just as a reminder, stems are not groups, stems are combined tracks of audio that have been rendered out.
So helpful You're sharing Your knowledge. Thank You! Would be interesting to know how You developed generating so much energy and speed in working / talking.
Wow, this is a lot different than how you used to do it. Do you prefer the single instances with disable/enable tracks? Also no VEPro, even on a single system (since they say it still makes it run better)? I thought using single instances would increase the RAM since Kontakt instances take 30-60mb each or something like that. But maybe outweighs the cons in favour of simplicity? I've been trying to rebuild my template, tried out FlexRouter to stuff even more instruments in a Kontakt instance and have single tracks with articulations and short/long outputs mapped using FlexRouter. It's really been lovely to only have 1-2 tracks per instrument, but it's taking eons to set up.
Not correct, latency is caused by the signal path through from the input, say from a keyboard, through the computer and audio output system to the speakers. Having a lot of RAM may effect only some of this path. A fast CPU and a good audio interface is also key
Nice video thanks! Yes plugins that add latency these days are behind the times.. plenty of very awesome reverbs, compressors, anything you want that has 0 latency. I tend to mix too much as I go and it slows down my writing but sounds great as I go. I feel more where I'm going with it. When I just write and don't mix at the same time I can't help but get irritated and distracted by rogue frequency peaks/spikes from things building up. Or that annoying sample in library that has an odd resonance compared to the others..i try to move on and come back later but it just shits me too much. Maybe I should write notes as I go of things to sort when the arrangement is done ... Anyway, thanks again!
Confused about your reverb. You don’t use it as an aux send? I’m seeing this bc you don’t have the mix up to 100%. Usually I see ppl use it as an aux send & do that. I’m not familiar w Cubase so I’m having trouble really seeing where it is in the chain.
Do you deal with the CSS legato "delay" somehow? I noticed you use their ww and strings libraries mixed with other stuff, and usually the added delay from their legatos is a pain to deal with
in the track settings on your left of the screen under the volume and pan there is a thing called track delay, set this somewhere between -40 to - 70 and they will play in time
@@bazenastevski2576 hmm not really. That is only useful if you use a single type of legato, but there are 3 different legatos each with it's own speed. I have tried using delay compensation before but it only partially fixes the issue
Excited to hear how you get on with this and any updates! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for being so generous with your time; these quick tricks can help anyone's workflow, and I like it when I can learn something new every day.
Great video, Marc. I'm using it as reference for my new template/setup. Fuerte abrazo. :D

As usual super pro, inspiring, and very practical info. Thank you very much!!
You are fantastic! Thank you very much.

Ah, now I'm digging your videos. More real, sharing your pain. And it's funny.
Well done, brother. You have my attention.

14:29 What do you mean by "this is replacing what I had" ?
Excellent video, thank you Marc! A true gem for aspiring composers and professionals alike.
thank you for the very good tutorial

“This is my UN FINISHED template.”
That was a chainbreaker 🤩🙌🏻

Estimado Marc, debieras poner subtítulos en español y/o hacer algunos vídeos en español, aunque sea de vez en cuando...
Saludos!

4:38 :D LOL
Your videos are awesome! Thanks!
the rack tracks are only good for some special things, otherwise it hides from your sight what you have available.
Saludos desde España!

The Template Killer, use Cubase's Track/Multi Track Presets and or use Cubase's midi loops.
Secret of no latence is to have the biggest ram as possible ? What do you think?

I like this approach. Good ideas. How about sharing this template (wink wink)? :)
hey Marc, congratulations on your new template and ditching VEP PRO:-)

No send. Inserted directly in stems :)

@@CarlosGherrera - you might want to consider the "CSS Control Panel" to compensate the articulation specific delays.
Your template looks very skinny compared to the one that I use on my Mac M1 with Digital Performer :D
