    Recognized that OHP logo. Recently moved from OK to AZ and bought a magna so I was surprised to see that logo when you were leaving the course. Good riding!

      It definitely helped me with low speed stability

    That's a damn good idea. Been wanting to find one. I'll bet there's one in Houston.

      I highly recommend finding one. The ones put on by the PD is usually free

      I highly recommend it. The stuff they taught me is something I can do in a parking lot anytime I want

    I'll tell you what.... Even before I start getting into this video to which I've only watched the first 2 minutes... If you don't have the knowledge of throttle clutch and rear break in slow speed motorcycle maneuvering.... To which having ridden 40 plus years myself and only learning of this 3 years ago....(said with a s***** eating grin)... These are skills that are a must for any Rider of any experience level. True riding skills and mastery of a motorcycle aren't displayed at speeds above 20 miles an hour but below that speed when using the clutch throttle and rear brake. And when done properly are a thing of beauty to see.

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад +1

      I have a pretty good feel for my clutch friction zone from drag racing and have used my rear brake when practicing for slow drags, but never really put a lot of effort or thought into using them just riding around. I definitely know where I need more practice

      @@jamesrevels there's one guy and his channel... Simmons paying it forward. He's an ex New York City motor cop who runs a channel specifically addressing these skills and his videos are very comprehensive in his approach to teaching others these slow speed maneuvering skills. It may be worth a a view on your I personally recommend it to anyone interested. And to me it's just fun practicing these skills.

    Why the overheat red light is turning on?? It seems you have some issues there. Careful with that.

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  2 года назад

      There is either a short there or a bad sensor. It will come on for a few seconds and go off. If it stays on I’d be concerned

    Why does your temp light keep flickering?
    I'd say you probably need to replace your thermistor on the back of the radiator

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад

      The wiring harness connector in the front by the steering stem was corroded and wires was broken. I just spliced them together eliminating the connector. It’s done it ever since. It’s either a loose connection somewhere or the thermistor. I’ll go through it and figure it out this winter when I go through the bike. I’ll be almost doing a complete restoration on it this winter

    Wait hold on I have a 95 magna did you clutchless shift?

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I do it all the time. I can go from 1st to 5th and back to 1st without ever touching the clutch.

      @@jamesrevels whattttt I didn’t know that that’s not harmful to the bike at all?

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад

      No, not at all. When accelerating just roll off the throttle and go to the next gear. You can do it pretty fast with practice. On deceleration blip the throttle and drop down a gear. There isn’t much advantage to deceleration, but quicker shifts, especially in a drag race, makes a big difference. I should make a video on it soon

      @@jamesrevels That’s crazy I can’t wait to try it tomorrow on the way to work also I was looking for your channel what kind of exhaust do you have I’ve been trying to find drag pipes for mine but I can’t find them anywhere

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад +1

      It’s a custom made exhaust. The bottom pipe comes up into the upper pipe and goes into a universal slip on

      Good training could make the difference in making it home or not.

  • @HootmonHarry
    @HootmonHarry 3 года назад

    You were talking about the 40 year rider, Ride like a pro Jerry Palidino has trained lots of people. What he says is there are a lot of people who have risen for 20 years, but they don't have 20 years of experience. They have 1 year of experience repeated 20 times.
    So yes.. good on you for taking the course... probably a little rough on the clutch and the clutch hand as well!

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад

      Very true, but he has ridden a lot. He said he put in over 54,000 miles in the last 3 years. He doesn’t own a car and all he has is a bike. He’s been all over the country

  • @HootmonHarry
    @HootmonHarry 3 года назад

    A bit more speed and drag the rear brake helps a lot.. should try to be up around 8-9 MPH so there is more pulling you forward than the force pulling you down..
    Longer handlebars would be a plus so you can more easily feather your movements.
    The Magna should be fairly easy compared to my 9 foot long bike!

    • @jamesrevels
      @jamesrevels  3 года назад

      Yea, I need more speed, I’ll get faster with it over time. I’m gonna continue practicing for sure. I’ll eventually get there
