Amitabh and Sanjeev were great actors total legends. However when it comes to natural acting and versatility of characters then the institute of acting (Dilip Kumar) comes out on top every time. My personal preference out of the above 3 great actors would be: 1. Sanjeev Kumar Saab 2. Amitabh Bachchan sir 3. Dilip Kumar Saab DK had a lot of limitations as an actor and was repetitive. AB is a total all-rounder and can possibly do anything, Action, Romance, Dance, Comedy, Emotional scenes, anything. However, while I don't remember seeing SK doing a lot of dance and action, the way SK would act was simply out of the world. He would look so effortless and could blow you away by his dialogue delivery, expressions, his eyes, his posture. An actor as young as him could be so convincing as the on-screen father of the hero. Wow. Neither did he get his due as an actor nor would he have got it even if he was alive till date because people prefer absolute hero looking actors instead of method actors like SK
I agree, among the actors you have mentioned here, Sanjeev Kumar was the best actor. He was a veey courageous actor too! The kind of variety of roles he has done without bothering about his image even at his young age is rare! He also has tremendous variety in approaching the roles. See him in Koshish, in Parichay (small role), in Dastak, in Sholay, in Andhi, in Naya Din Nayi Raat, in Mausam, Angoor and so on....tremendously variety! 🙏 But...his body language was still a bit stiff. In my opion, the expression, the dialogue delivery are parts of the total acting presentation but body language, voice modulation are two other very important parts of whole acting assignment. If actor's body language isn't flexible enough to suit the role and its mood, then the stardom of the star and his reputation has to fill the gaps. Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are great actors but their body language, in my opinion, falls short of the requirements. If we go back in time, I consider Mr Motilal as most natural actor of that era of 1940s to 1950s. What an actor!!!! So natural that he didn't seem to be acting at all. Ashok Kumar was another fantastic actor who could change his body language (in Kismet, in Ashirwad, in Jewel Theif etc), his voice along with expressions according to the roles! In my opinion, in the later generation, Nasiruddin Shah is almost a complete actor who can change completely, according to the roles see him in Mirch Masala, in Mandi, in Sparsh (even Al Pachino has confessed that he learnt about acting blind for his role in "Scent of A Woman", from Nasiruddin Shah's role in Sparsh). Another such very good actor is Ajay Devgn! He can also change like a chameleon according to his role. Look at his voice modulation, his body language in Jakhm, in Legend Of Bhagatsingh, in Raincoat, in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (a look up the staircase when Ashwarya leaves him in opera house to meet Salman, towards the end of the movie! That one look can kill you! That one shot can be remembered through a life). Among the actresses , I consider the great Nutan as best, from the past! She was almost a complete actress (leave aside dance). Then came Wahida Rehman...then came Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Kajol (not great but a lot natural), Priyanka Chopra (see her acting in Barfi (great piece, such a fantastic body language in almost a silent role) and now, Kriti Sanon and Aaliya Bhatt (both, evolving still, but Aaliya has done very good job in Gangubai Kathiawadi). Let me know of your opinion on above!😊

He would look so effortless and could blow you away by his dialogue delivery, expressions, his eyes, his posture. An actor as young as him could be so convincing as the on-screen father of the hero. Wow. Neither did he get his due as an actor nor would he have got it even if he was alive till date because people prefer absolute hero looking actors instead of method actors like SK

My favourite hero
I agree, among the actors you have mentioned here, Sanjeev Kumar was the best actor. He was a veey courageous actor too! The kind of variety of roles he has done without bothering about his image even at his young age is rare! He also has tremendous variety in approaching the roles. See him in Koshish, in Parichay (small role), in Dastak, in Sholay, in Andhi, in Naya Din Nayi Raat, in Mausam, Angoor and so on....tremendously variety! 🙏
But...his body language was still a bit stiff. In my opion, the expression, the dialogue delivery are parts of the total acting presentation but body language, voice modulation are two other very important parts of whole acting assignment. If actor's body language isn't flexible enough to suit the role and its mood, then the stardom of the star and his reputation has to fill the gaps. Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are great actors but their body language, in my opinion, falls short of the requirements.
If we go back in time, I consider Mr Motilal as most natural actor of that era of 1940s to 1950s. What an actor!!!! So natural that he didn't seem to be acting at all. Ashok Kumar was another fantastic actor who could change his body language (in Kismet, in Ashirwad, in Jewel Theif etc), his voice along with expressions according to the roles!
In my opinion, in the later generation, Nasiruddin Shah is almost a complete actor who can change completely, according to the roles see him in Mirch Masala, in Mandi, in Sparsh (even Al Pachino has confessed that he learnt about acting blind for his role in "Scent of A Woman", from Nasiruddin Shah's role in Sparsh). Another such very good actor is Ajay Devgn! He can also change like a chameleon according to his role. Look at his voice modulation, his body language in Jakhm, in Legend Of Bhagatsingh, in Raincoat, in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (a look up the staircase when Ashwarya leaves him in opera house to meet Salman, towards the end of the movie! That one look can kill you! That one shot can be remembered through a life).
Among the actresses , I consider the great Nutan as best, from the past! She was almost a complete actress (leave aside dance). Then came Wahida Rehman...then came Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Kajol (not great but a lot natural), Priyanka Chopra (see her acting in Barfi (great piece, such a fantastic body language in almost a silent role) and now, Kriti Sanon and Aaliya Bhatt (both, evolving still, but Aaliya has done very good job in Gangubai Kathiawadi).
