I love your vlogs Tara and I am so happy to have discovered your channel today. You are absolutely right. As an Indigenous Australian researcher who is just starting out on my post graduate academic efforts I too am looking to challenge the rigid empirical status quo. Especially as it relates to Indigenous people. Im lucky as while Im doing my studies in Indigenous research methodologies, I am also conducting a research project as part of my job. It is looking at Family Violence in my community. I love Turing as well. A brilliant man who suffered greatly due to prejudice.

Many thanks for your vlogs - as ever. On the weekend just past, I watched the movie, The Imitation Game. Alan Turing. What an amazing man. An amazing intellectual. I had no idea. As someone who identifies as an organic academic this was highly refreshing. While I’m not a big fan of moral denigration toward Trumpian politics, there something very true about this not being a normal time in history and this behavior being destructive and harmful, on both sides of the political aisle. Progress can be made but not unless we walk boldly into the fray, like Dr.Turing.

How can we find out what talks you are giving whilst you are in Manchester? Am I too late to see you present?

Hi Wonderful Kim! I was in the UK for 9 days. Just back in Adelaide now! I did a public lecture at Leeds Beckett, but none in Manchester this time :) But I'll be back soon - and hopefully speaking in Manchester again. Biggest hug to you txxx

As a gay academic in the north of England, this means a lot to me. I actually never thought about the statue being also closer to the science buildings. I always thought it was put there because of Canal Street. Nice video.
