this trailer made me remember " A knight's tale" of Heath Ledger.
Greatest stand alone film ever created. No one can change my mind. RIP Heath. I've seen the film hundreds of times and I still cry when he reunites with his father for the first time.

@a1uffy its your call on the statement of level of film and noone should dissuade you. BUT im with you when he re-unites with his father. That whole scene is brilliant and pulls on the heart strings EVERY SINGLE TIME. "has he follwed his feet and come home?". The other is when he is composing the love letter to the princess and the troupe all contribute a story. "I miss her like the flower misses the sun" ...dear god im welling up even now !
@WizardsLore Yea my statement is probably very unpopular, but that still doesn't take away from it being an amazing film. I am sure a film like interstellar would be "regarded" as better. (Best stand alone film is a very subjective opinion to begin with) I mean it has everything: the hero's journey, family/ friend character development, humor, depth, action, challenging social expectations, etc. A great example is: Kate, the female black smith, who retained her femininity and celebrates it without having to sacrifice it to become one of "the boys." My defense is that the film is for everyone regardless of age or background. It reaches the largest age/ demographic. Another sad scene for me is when Heath's father made the hard choice to give his son away to a knight for a better life knowing they would probably never see another again.

Some people have been complaining about the humour in the trailer. Thats a shame, because this story is supposed to be the GOOD juxtaposition of the general dreariness of Westeros. Not everything is spider webs and traps. Im very excited for this.

These novellas are So. Good. And the more lighthearted tone is a big part of why. I’m hopeful!
I think, if memory serves (and it often doesn't), Duncan the Tall was the Grandfather of Brienne of Tarth
When the book was released, it seemed like Martin had got his mojo back. Not sure he will ever finish ASOIAF - it may have simply become to big and unresolvable, but reading this felt like he had taken a break from all that and got back to writing in a way which was fun for him. I just hope the TV series lives up to it.

@zacharywood8401 Well blow me down... I hadn't realised he hd started writing these so much earlier.
It is worth pointing out it was the first one which was written in 1998 and the other two novellas were in 2003 and 2010 ( according to wiki ) but I guess it just shows that rather than them being an illustration of how he got his mojo back, it is just further evidence of how he had mojo back then and doesn't seem to have regained it.

People acting like GOT didn’t have tons of humor in every episode must not have watched it in awhile. I JUST finished rewatching it (btw it holds up much better nowadays than when everyone had an expectation of the ending and Dany becoming the benevolent queen. She showed her true colors very early on to those who pay attention). Almost every scene with Tyrion, Bron, The Hound, and Tormund had some element of humor and that’s just scratching the surface.
You are exactly right. I also recently rewatched and had the same thought. How did we not know she was mad??? They certainly set the stage all the way in season 1.
Despite the decline in the latter seasons of GOT, I've enjoyed HOTD so far (pity about HBO cutting the number of episodes in season 2), and this looks (at least) very watchable.
It's an interesting world, and likely a welcome break from whatever courtroom/period/snooze-fest drama everyone else is probably watching just now.
HOTD is as terrible as your taste.

An excellent book. The preview looks good and they nailed Dunk and Egg. Let's see if the show is as good as the book, though.
I never red the books....is there THAT much material to have a tv show based on these characters? I enjoyed the original GOT. HOTD has one good season, one weak season. I'm optimistic with Season 3. What are your thoughts?

Pretty much. But to be fair not every generation of that family is golden. Half of them in total were pretty 💩. When a dragon is born the gods flip a coin

That’s Aerion Targaryen son of Maekar Targaryen. His lil brother is egg (Aegon V) Aerion is the one who drinks wild fire to become a dragon which fails. Blackfrye Family might be in the show as well. Can’t wait.

I will be interested to see how they handle Brynden Rivers in this series. It has been my long standing view that The Bloodraven is who actually sits on the throne at the end of GoT by virtue of a worging body swap event in the Hodor's cave moment. If you go back and watch that episode when they are running from the Night King entering the cave. You can see it all go down. Bran was in Hodor, and Brynden was in Bran, and Hodor dies taking Bran with him, leaving a forever changed "Bran" who has Brynden inside and in control. The BloodRaven finally won the Game of Thrones, and it started during this new show's timeline.
I am reading the books on this series now so I have a better deeper understanding when the show comes out

I can't get invested in these shows anymore. Have to wait 3 years for each season.
This will not be like that. Theyre 30 minute episodes, 6 episodes a season. it's based on much shorter stories. they should be able to come out each year, unlike something much grander in scope, like HOTD

More like great-grandfather. This was some 60-70 years before Brienne was born and people have kids at like 15-20 years of age in this world.

the book really only says he has curly hair, its just that most of the art of his has long hair like pretty much every other targaryen in existence

The dunk and egg books were funny. So were the main asoiaf books in parts.
