To cure the zombie villager you have to first throw a splash potion of weakness at it, then right click it with a golden apple. You get discounted trades this way

Endermen through glass, Pigman aggravate, borders, wither spawn (they don't spawn on snow because there are blocks obstructing armpits, same applies with iron golems), etc. Zombie villagers do turn to villagers as long as they have weakness. They take 5 minutes to recover to a villager.

digging straight down is not dangerous bc most of the lava is at the bedrock level , so as long as you mine in y 11 you will be ok
