I towed a caravan all over Australia over a 10 year period and never ended up in an uncontrolled sway situation. A properly balanced van, good WDH, sensible driving and never a problem.
You can also prevent van sway by not cranking the steering wheel hard left and right continuously. Keeping it straight when driving in a straight line is surprisingly effective. You should try it.
I can tell you first hand this product works 100% as advertised. We have a motorcycle trailer that's 26 ft long. It's an enclosed trailer with two axles. Ever since we bought this trailer it has always swayed we even tried putting our bikes in different locations and it did not matter where. We even tried different vehicles and we still had the same issue. After putting this system on and making some little adjustments here and there that trailer stays right behind whatever vehicle we are using. I can honestly say if it wasn't for this product I would have gotten rid of that trailer by now. I don't work for this company I know of no one that is familiar with me working there. I'm just giving you my honest opinion on a product that I am familiar with and use.
Notice when they show them next to each other, (video time 1:16) how much faster the one on the right is going. Also how much wider he is swaying compared to the one on the left.
@tim may correct. you can see the efforts the suv is putting in to sway the trailer left and right. The driver on left id like careful. This is how you drive Careful with or without sway bars
It’s not the truck size. A properly set up wdh and camper loaded correctly. A small truck can pull. It’s the driver plus speed plus outside forces. You have to drive for the conditions. If the truck seems to be to light in the front and you are white knuckling it then yes get a bigger truck. But I see people speeding by me with trailers at 75-80 miles an hour. That’s freaking crazy
Controlled sway (like in the video) is far different than outside induced sway (from wind or passing semis). I personally would only use a Reese Dual Cam.
I am surprized that no one knows what to do if a caravan or large trailer starts to sway, A swaying caravan or trailer will start steering the car in either direction, Do not try to fight this as you will only make things worse, Lock your arms and steer straight ahead take your foot of the accelerator, do not apply the brakes or accelerate the vehicle, You can apply the trailer brakes if you are able. I have used this method and it does work. If the problem persists you will need to proceed at a slower speed & fit anti sway bars to your vehicle
It's mostly about make it idiot proof for that 1or2% that don't know how to drive accordingly or load accordingly but are going to do it anyway, but doesn't matter how experienced or knowledgeable you are you can't always account for the ones you share the road with and if you have to avoid one of them this sort of device might be the difference to being around to abuse them or tell stories about it, bit like ABS and airbags, and even power brakes and steering, not necessary until you need it, I drove trucks with no power steering and thought nothing of it until I seen a truck in front of me get a blow out on steerer and barely kept it upright as he veered off road and jackknife and he had power steering, whole new perspective after that
i've been towing trailers and vans for donkeys years and never had a problem or needed a device like this, but then thats because i'm not only driving correctly, but i'm loading and weighting them correctly and using a suitable vehicle, its not rocket science.
Wright distribution is key, but unfortunately campers can be hard to get the weight where it should be. Manufacturers need to consider this stuff but not all of them do
We HAD a auto sway controller YEARS AGO ,first installed on airstream 's thinking sometime around the 70s, I put on some on other trailers, then aftera while faded out ,now yall got it, good luck ,retired now so I just set back and watch it all over again, I still think the PULLRITE hitch was GREAT ONLY problem I seen was COST,and fit on every type vehicle
Only time I had sway is when they loaded the excavator too far back on the trailer. I repeatedly hit the brake controller and didn't fight the steering wheel. It was scary af. After I got it under control, I looked in the rear view. Pretty much had the interstate to myself. The traffic had slowed to a crawl behind me. I have an equalizer controller on my travel trailer
Why can't companies just have a chart expressing that to stop sway is to make sure to put extra weight forward. If more weight is on the tail of the camper sway begins.
Ok so I’m in the US, I tow a 2020 Cherokee Grey Wolf 24 JS, that’s 27’ long, 4,600-5,600lbs as we roll. With a 2019 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4, V6. Using a Fastway E2 Weight Distribution/Sway Control Hitch, that definitely works as advertised. All with ease I might add.
Apply trailer break when sway starts not to vehicle use break controller because appling trailer breaks will straighten trailer and bring back Stability to your toe vehicle. Sway control do help along with weight distribution bars but you still need to know how to drive safely first.
We have a standard low tech weight distribution hitch with a standard no sway friction bar on our tent trailer that works amazing. We never had a problem with it. This seems to me they are just trying to sell a really expensive system.
I would worry leaving it out parked. Couple philips bolts and unplug the plug and play. A balanced set up is key. Never endanger your life or those around you. Cheers
If you're trailer is probably balanced and dont panic when it starts to sway. Most people panic and get on the brakes which makes it worse. Get on the gas and drive it out the sway.
You can obviously see him swerve way more without the swaybar , He goes across the line without it when he’s got it he stays in between the lines swerving
Im sure this device does what it says. But almost all vehicles these days comes with ESP and trailer sway control.I am still looking for an answer why caravans and trailers are not build like truck trailers, with a fifth wheel front axle.
Apparently the truck with the sway control is swerving right to left WAY less than the truck without the sway control...the truck with the sway control needs to swerve right and left just as hard as with the truck without
Umm umm umm look at that two clips one goes on top of sway arm and one clip connect on bottom omg it will snap trust me for how long it going to last tho

It is complex and difficult to set up and it will only work on American or Aus rigs - this video shows a combination where the tow car is pushing the physics to the limit to create a sway, it does not happen like this in reality. There is only one way to control sway before it starts on overrun European caravans and that is "Differential Stability" that industry refuses to even look at for some unknown reason. It works by creating a force equal and opposite at the centre of equilibrium without any electrical sensors or motors and it is easy to retrofit on any caravan at a cost of about £150.
