    Nice review and all your points are pretty much spot on. However there are 2 bowls. One is Larkspur Bowl and the other is Rose Bowl which was named after George Gillette's wife Rose. George is an iconic figure here in the Vail/Beaver Creek area. He raised the customer service level significantly while he owned Vail Associates which later turned into Vail Resorts. Thanks for doing the review and I hope you come on back soon!

      @@darwinmccutcheon2238 thanks for taking the time to check it out! I really appreciate it! That’s true they do have those, I actually rode them and enjoyed them. I guess in my mind I just think of bowls as these big massive bowls and the ones at beaver creek were still fun, just smaller and not the “traditional” bowl terrain I think of. Still excellent terrain though, and while I was there I never felt like I was missing them. That’s cool! I had no idea! With the last name Gillette I was thinking he had something to do with the razors 😂. That’s actually pretty awesome. I definitely want to come back to both Beaver and Vail. I absolutely loved both resorts and have been itching to come back ever since. Beaver is still one of my favorites I’ve been to. After this season I may switch back to Epic.

    I'm an intermediate rider so the Grouse Mountain lift is a little intimidating since there are only black and double-black runs on it. Larkspur and Latigo are my favorite runs at Beaver Creek and I enjoy Centennial and President Ford. Should I be intimidated by Grouse Mountain?

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  6 месяцев назад

      We actually didn’t get to ride it when we were there. It wasn’t the best snow and a bit icy and tracked out on a lot of the main areas so we never went to it, so unfortunately can’t say. I think as long as the snow was good and you just take it slow at first you’d be alright 😁just start with the least difficult one

    Taking my family(wife 23 and 21 years of age) we've NEVER skied before but debating between Vail and BC. Which do you suggest and which one is higher in cost overall?

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  2 месяца назад

      Nice!!! Honestly both are wonderful and are going to give you the best first and full experience in terms of riding and just the ski village/mountain town. If I had to pick one though I would say Beaver creek simply because the mountain is a bit smaller, less steep and far less crowded so it makes it better and easier for learning I think. But you can’t go wrong with either. I think Vail would cost more to stay in the village than Beaver Creek, but it would be close. The cheapest route and what we did, was to stay in Edwards, it’s a really nice small town and take a shuttle or drive to Beaver which is about 4-5 minutes away or vail is about 15 minutes.

    What’s special about “high alpine bowl terrain”? What different experience does it bring except for the different view?

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  7 месяцев назад

      I mean the good thing about Beaver creek is the rest of the terrain is so good, you don’t really know it’s missing. But I did just feel it’s worth mentioning. The main thing you miss without that is the epic views and scenery like you mentioned as well as the natural wind created features from blown snow on the more exposed terrain. But by no means am I faulting beaver creek for not having it, it’s still one of my favorite resorts 😁

    • @boleidi4936
      @boleidi4936 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@BoardsBikesAndHikes My same feeling as well. I mean, I personally do not value "high alpine bowl terrain" that much. I do have friends like Vail for the view of the bowls. For me, I like the variety of terrains like mellow groomers, trees, and steep moguls, where the techniques are very different from each other. High alpine bowls are just too similar to any steep black run, unless it's the Natural Selection style.

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@boleidi4936 I get that for sure. I’m in the same boat. The only time I’m really drawn to the high alpine bowls is on a powder day when everything’s nice and fresh. Then the wide open powder is just too much fun! But once it’s moguled out, I prefer other terrain😁

    Any tips on shuttle vs rental car & parking, flying into Denver.

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  2 месяца назад

      @@jamarvalondria2416 when we went we just compared the prices with how many of us were going. It came down to the rental car being cheaper if we all split it vs us all buying individual shuttle tickets. There’s quite a few shuttle options and we’ve used the shuttles to get to Breckenridge and Keystone, and it is nice but pricey. With 5 of us at the time the rental car saved us about $200.

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  2 месяца назад

      @@jamarvalondria2416 renting cars we have used Alamo and budget at the Denver airport and it hasn’t been bad. Turo is also a really great option to cut down on cost as well. For shuttles the epic mountain express and summit express are the 2 I’ve used in the past. You do get a bit of a discount on the epic mountain express if you have any epic pass as well.

    Is it family friendly for a 4 year old? Kids club etc?

    • @BoardsBikesAndHikes
      @BoardsBikesAndHikes  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not 100% on the kids club but I found quite a few sites talking about different kid friendly aspects. While we were there, there was tons of family’s and little ones. The crowds are lower than most vail owned resorts, low crowds mean short lines, tons of beginner friendly areas and terrain, the village is very family friendly vibe and didn’t feel like some that are overly party crowds. We loved it. Plus free cookies for the family 🤣we will definitely come back with our son once he’s old enough. Also if you don’t want to stay in Beaver, Edward CO is 3 minutes down the road and cheaper
