35:44 Well shoot. If you don’t wanna get caught with all one point letters, then stop dumping your Q, J, Z, X, etc. for such minimal points. Learn to use them properly to increase your score when you can’t get a bingo draw.
Good match. excited for some coverage of the SPC. I haven't played a competitive game since school scrabble, but it's awesome to see my former partner (Castellano) is such a strong contender for a title.
I've only recently began spectating scrabble, but as a poet who began studying the dictionary and pronunciations at a young age (about 13) so know many of these words (though would never begin to be able to discover them based only on their constituent parts!), hearing them pronounced wrong by people who can spot them so effortlessly is a bit, say, disarming, lol. It really jumped out to me hearing "Eudaimon" (more commonly used in the form "Eudaimonia", which has no direct, single word translation from the Greek but is, roughly, a state of well-being and flourishing) pronounced and stressed as "You Damon", rather than "YOU-day(/deh)-moan", closely followed by "yagi" (the antennae - in my estimation the most aesthetically rich antennae), pronounced as rhyming with "Magi" !! Typing this out now seems silly, but it was silly to me too!
They've enough to do learning the words. Also deliberate mispronunciations can help recall. Coinmate, for example, if pronounced 'wrongly' is amusing. Isn't yagi an 'antenna' with many yagis being antennae, however these are pronounced ?
We often learn to pronounce words based on the arrangement of their vowels - especially words like EUDAIMON. It makes it easier to spell them correctly over the board. But your pedantry makes you a perfect addition to the community. Welcome! (and if you think I'm being obnoxious, I'm really not. We're all pedantic here)
Doesn't checking the tile bag to count the number of tiles interfere with the fairness of random draws each turn? I guess it's minimal if the other player shuffles the tiles well before picking, but still.
Maybe in a tournament it;s ok not to focus on spread too much, but save the mental energy and focus on staying sharp and winning (end)games? I would think at least
This kind of scrabble streaming could be twice as successful if the commentators invested in some decent microphones. Its quite hard to concentrate and listen to the muffled commentary, no matter how good and interesting it is.
100% disagree. I honestly don't notice their mics at all, and I'm not the only one. There aren't enough people not watching bc of the mics to justify the cost
@@cukka99 I wanted to see real Scrabble on this site. Is there not a RUclips site that only shows real scrabble which is Tournament Word List? Scrabble is an American game and only American English is appropriate.
The downside of Will playing is him not commentating
I find it very entertaining that both Eudaimon and Arete were nearly played in the same game! Aristotelian fortunes in this scrabble match!!
10:43 game 1
50:17 game 2
1:46:33 game 3
2:18:27 game 4
3:29:28 game 5
4:02:38 game 6
Glad I watched this whole VOD, great games, even greater players.

Well done Welly. You are still Africa's proudest Scrabbler🎉
Wellington is so humble. Fun set!

And now he’s a champion!!!
3:44:55 OERSTED is a unit of magnetic field strength, named after Hans Christian Ørsted. I don't think it has anything to do with WORSTED.
Cool. It's a bit crazy that WORSTEDS and OERSTEDS are seemingly unrelated!
whoa major TIL
It was a fun match, the last game had some really absurd draw (un)luck though lol
Unfortunately couldnt finish watching live. 😢
But excited to watch the replay
Seems like it was a fun round of scrabble ❤😊

Jesus, Wellington was getting really unlucky with the draws

Will playing REIN at Jingler and rewax was a higher score and wouldn't have opened up for Jighere's TESTILY 100plus. Still beautiful plays!
Wellington outplayed yet Will outdrew

He missed avosets- I wouldn't call that 'outplaying' 😏

thanks for the feedback, I am hoping to have a better one set up for SPC/Word Cup and other future streams
I think most of the muffling you hear is possibly both commentators trying to speak at once, which can definitely be worked on.
This is not real Scrabble. The only real Scrabble is the American Tournament Word List. Merriam Webster is legitimate. Collins is not.
I think exactly the opposite
