Cisco’s Port Security feature can limit the number of MAC addresses allowed to come into a Cisco Catalyst switch via a specific switch port. We can even configure which devices are allowed to come into a switch port, based on MAC addresses.
This video covers both the theory and configuration of Cisco Port Security, which is a topic on Cisco's CCNA (200-301) exams.

You are one of the best instructor and I love the way you explain, I saw your lot of videos specially CCVP. Regrading port-security violation shutdown or restrict, in production network if the user has changed/swap his desk from one room to another room then first we have to clear/remove the mac-addresses from his existing configured port (static or sticky) then whichever port now his old pc & IP phone is connecting to the switchport we have to make sure it doesn't already any existing entry learned by (static or sticky) if yes then manually we have to remove this entry, this is extra overhead of port-security. if we use aging time (type inactive) I think it will avoid this situation.
Great video! love it.
Spot on!
like always you hit the center of the target "you rock"
Nice video, thank you.
You The Man!

Hi Kevin, do the commands issued here work in PT?
listen 2:45 carefully.
Does "Errdisable Recover Cause ...." work on Packet Tracer ????
the hacker looks like a roadman from Britain lol
Hey Kevin, Thanks for putting these out I appreciate your time!
I have been hearing a lot of conflicting info from this but I have a quick question, I currently don't have my CCNA. If I were to pass all 3 exams of the current CCNP, would I still be grandfathered in to the new CCNP given there is no longer a requirement to get a CCNA first anymore?
Thanks again!
That's a very interesting question. I can't speak for Cisco, and I'm not confident of the correct answer. However, the CCNP Migration Tool ( bit.ly/ccnpmigration ) suggests that if you pass ROUTE, SWITCH, and TSHOOT by Feb. 24, you'll receive the new CCNP Enterprise certification. There's no explicit mention of having to have your CCNA. However, it does say, "If you have started working toward the current CCNP Routing & Switching certification..." So, that might imply you have to already have your CCNA.
what if someone knows the mac addresses the switch allows? Then he unplugs the device that was previously connected to the switch and connects the new device whose Mac address has been changed to the MAC address of the previous permitted device?
what happens if we connect a router and 10 people connect to router SSID. How switch will understand now?
I much rather learn from you Elvis Presley than my ccna professor :(
Can you do a video on cisco emergency responsder??????
Thanks for your suggestion! I'm always looking for new topics to teach.
Why must the port be an access port?
