      There is only one Todd Rundgren. He doesn’t do predictable, or bland. It is all meaningful, heartfelt, be it a keen observation, a moving lyrical expression, or pure playfulness. What a brilliant concert! ❤

    At 70 years old, and a musician for 60 years,
    I have been aware of Todd’s music from the beginning and loved it all.
    I had especially fallen in love with Todd’s album Liars, in 2004, and Now coming across this performance of his song, Godsaid with a full orchestra.
    And like the Electronica version,
    It once again has brought me to tears, as Todd often does.
    Of course, he is one of my biggest heros, and musical inspiration.
    This orchestrated version, reinforces just how musically important Todds original songs are.
    Pure genius!
    Nicky,
    Far Past Dark

    Amsterdam is more spoiled for sweet music than any city I can think of - equal almost to NYC for how many bands play - I don't recall but I expect there is Dutch Todd cult, and they know English, probably they recognize that Todd is almost an Elizabethan poet - the man can carry a metaphor, into a conceit, and work it, but he can also capture common speech, for example in his first hit song
    A psychedelic, skeptical, soulman - who is also a sort of John Donne of slackers.

    @BlijburgTV
    No pop artist out there needs or deserves to travel with a bigger band IMO with Stevie Wonder the one exception. Todd of course can make do with less than the Metropole provides, magnificently, and I mean right down to just a Revox reel-to-reel. But at this point he should not have to - I see a place for Kasim Sulton of course - then a raft of these players would do nicely - I daresay Jessie could handle the guitar duties - and oh for Shandi Shannon back dancing & singing harmony.
    Them, & full orchestra - glocks, tympani, tambourines, bassoons, the whole nine - everything that Smokey or Aretha or The Dells or for that matter Michel Legrand could call on.
    Thanks Blijburg - the first 2 songs here are masterpieces, of poetry, melody, arrangement, and newer category, mix. As though watching the movie Woodstock I forgot there even was a cameraman between me & the experience

    The opening tune - an anthem, again - now the second melody is enough to make you gasp. Both tunes stress a minor mode, incredibly. Just heard the Utopia 80 and Nearly Human Tokyo 90 show here on YT and there;s no flaw - the quality is same as here. I would compare Todd it to Donald Fagen & Steely Dan for precision, brains, storytelling and power pop changes rendered with funk, as necessary. Todd's lyrical brilliance evokes the slacker days of indecision which I recall from about grade 12 and on into college.
    The other comparison is Carole King, Paul Simon I suppose,, Stevie Wonder and now we're at the highest rung. I did not know Todd was not in R&R Hall? Could this be a fact? Why let the French, or the Brazilians, who know about these composing moves, do it first?
