Thank you. I hope you feel confident enough to enter a FAST event and good luck! Just pick the best route for your dog that is well within your skill set. Don't worry about the points... plan your entry into the gamble and you will do just fine! Last tip.. plan ahead and don't get greedy earning points... a Q is a Q and you don't want to hear that buzzer while on the course... get it done and out you go...
I will work on it... What is confusing about T2B? My guess, it's how teams earn points. To get you started... there is a max time that dogs must complete the course. it is an open competition, which means that novice, open, excellent and masters all run and compete on the same course. Refusals are not called so if a dog misses the weaves, they get two more tries to enter, or if this miss a jump, they can go back and take it as long as they did not take an off course obstacle. Teams earn points based on a scale set by the fastest dog. Everyone will earn points if they completed the course without dropping a bar or going off course. If you are the top dog, you get 10 points. If your time is within 10% if the fastest time, you get 9 points. 20%- 8 points.. 30%-7 points..etc You earn your title once you have 15 q's AND at least 100 accumulated points. I can see where this could be confusing so a video would be a good idea... thanks for the suggestion.. Good Luck!!!!!
I"m confident you will do great! Look for the best flow for your dog to initiate the distance challenge and strategize to include the higher point obstacles, 7-8-9 if possible. Good luck and let me know how you do.
Thank you so much for this video!! It explained so many questions about FAST that I had. One more thing, though - during the send bonus, is the handler allowed to move and talk to their dog so long as they don’t cross the line? Thank you!
Just for clarity- if there is a set finish jump does that mean that has to be your last obstacle? What happens if you are on course and the time runs out?
Great question! There is a specified finish obstacle for the course and you must cross that finish line to stop the clock. You will receive a full point off your final score for every second you are over your course time. So if the time allotted for the course expires, you will no longer receive points for the game for completing obstcles after that time has expired but must cross that line to stop the clock to avoid continued points being deducted from the points you were able to accumulate during regulation time.
I'm glad you found it helpful. Someone asked me how to play and thought I could find her something on RUclips and realized there was very little. Good luck and have fun out there!
Yes..but just for clarity. You must start on the designated starting point, which can be an obstacle; but , sometimes can be a line between two designated points in which the clock starts as soon as you cross the plane. And, of course, there is a designated ending. Between the start and the finish, yes, you choose your own path with the exception of the Send Bonus sequence.... you will need to complete the challenge in the sequence designated by the judge.
@@katherineweppler821 , you are welcome! Just to make sure.. the time starts when your DOG crosses the start line or start obstacle... you can cross the line if you choose to do a lead out... same rule applies for lead outs.. Good Luck!
Yes, the only difference is that you can take the Gamble or Jackpot anytime during the run, the obstacle points are 1-10 as determined by the judge and once obstacles 2-10 are completed, you don’t earn those points twice is you complete them a second time… I think in CPE you can earn them twice and take back to back.. in AKC you can not. If you fail to complete an obstacle in AKC, you can re attempt it for points but you can not make that attempt back to back, meaning, if your dog failed to hit the contact on the A Frame, you can’t immediately reattempt the A Frame, you must do another obstacle before reapproaching the A Frame… good luck! I find that people experienced in CPE Jackpot do very well in this event
@@TeachersPetK9 Yes. During non-traditional Jackpot you can sometimes do the gamble at any time, it depends on the judge (Traditional you must wait for the first buzzer). Obstacles can be taken back-to-back as long as it is safe to do so and can be done twice. Contacts are always worth 5 and sometime combos are 5 as well, Tunnels and other selected obstacles are 3 points, single jumps are 1 point. Gambles are usually worth 20 points but in Non-traditional where all levels compete, there are usually several gamble opportunities some worth 15 points.
If your dog miss one of the send obstacles but continue to second .. do I re try the whole send bonus ( two obstacles) or do I need to do any other obstacle before second attempt of two send obstacles?
Your video succinctly explained the game. I had already watched FAST runs at the trials but was still baffled until this video. Thank you.

The best tutorial I’ve seen for FAST. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Good luck on the course!
I would love for you to do a video explaining time to beat also. This video is very helpful. I love it!

Thank you!! I just started competing and was nervous to try FAST for the first time in July coming up but now I feel much better about going for it :)

Sorry...for the delayed response... YES! As long as the hander does not cross the line..the dog can, but the handler can not.. good luck!

@@TeachersPetK9 Yea there doesn't seem to be much out there.
So just for clarity, there isn't a set course per se, you can decide the path (and therefore the obstacles) you want to send your dog?

Great info. Music is annoying
I'm glad it was helpful and I've received feedback about the music before... in the future, I will not include a back track...good luck!
