I just said this to a buddy on the telephone. This evening I listened to "Rubber Soul" from The Beatles, "Queen II" from Queen, "Houses Of The Holy" from Led Zep, "Girls, Girls, Girls" from Motley Crue and "Innervisions" from Stevie Wonder. It all made perfect sense to me. I hated it when the Crue got lumped in with all the fake hair metal bands that the record labels signed in their wake. By the time that Poison and Warrant were dominating MTV, Motley looked more like Guns n' Roses. There is a reason why Slash and Duff like the guys in the Crue. They were the real deal, and they also wrote songs with subject matter that was more diverse than just chicks & partying. Listen to "Wild Side," "Danger," or "Primal Scream"
Although I like of the glam bands (I hate the term hair metal) most of them were copying Motley Crue. They were the originators. The ones that followed were watered down versions of them
This interview was filmed in Vancouver Canada in 1984. The reason Ozzy Osbourne's name is brought up was because Motley Crue were in town opening for Ozzy at the Pacific Coliseum. This was Motley Crue's first time in Vancouver. They returned in 1985 to headline their own show during the Theater Of Pain tour.
Ikr! The Crue had the best “street style “ (offstage ) in the early days. They had the dopest outfits; they had this cool mix of urban cowboy/biker with 80s LA street chiq. Digging Nikki’s black leather gloves too. I always wanted to dress like them as a 14 yr old kid haha but could only afford a MC shirt and torn jeans😂😅. They were the epitome of rock star cool😎
Funny how in a BAND interview each band member will behave a lil differently, and even their answers slightly different, than when they get interviewed individually. .... More serious, less cutting up.
@@cellblocknine5385 Hey.. Well, for me, i noticed their SOUND changed drastically from each of those 3 albums.. i first shout, and the music itself and production was great. to me, then almost immediately after that release, too fast for love was released and we all know that was their famous demo album. And i liked that too, but it was very rough sounding. musically and the production, and i understand why.. then theatre came out and it was different than shout, but it was still closer to their shout sound. Then the only other piece of music that i was aware of after theatre, that i liked, was 2 songs from their Dr. feelgood album. Dr. feelgood, and without you. that was it for me.. they had gone down a totally different road musically, and i dont agree that is was growth.. i just didnt like it, and i didnt think they were as good musically individually and as a band after that.... Yeah, but Quiet Riot dates back to almost mid 70's. Motley the late 70's /early 80's. Part of the problem with the whole LA scene is that Motley And Quiet broke probably 5 years before all the fake hair bands broke. And yet they get associated with Poison and Cinderella. Ridiculous. There was always a harder edge with those 2 bands.
