Since researching braids after you inspired me this is exactly how the mixtecs (indigenous mexican) would do their braids. Now im back because not only have u inspired but funnily enough shared cultural tradition has led me back for a tutorial 😅 thank you!
Now I know why I felt anxious when my ribbon was longer than my skirt. 😂 In my town every year we have a folk festival, and because I volunteer to help and run a lot, I always put my hair up and add ribbons ro the bun. But this year I wanted ribbon braid, my hair is down to my thighs, and at first it felt weird to have longer ribbon than the skirt, but it looked lovely. On the old pictures the skirt is always longer, but I wanted flowy long ribbon.
I love this! Your hair is beautiful, and it's so nice to see someone talking about their heritage. My parents are from Romania (hey, neighbor :) and I just love learning about the culture I didn't get to grow up with, since I wasn't raised in Romania. Eastern Europe is a magical (and a bit odd) place. I look forward to more videos on Hungarian folk culture!
I'm so glad I discovered your channel through the Costube Secret Santa, this is gorgeous stuff! Hungarian folk-wear is so vibrant and lively, I LOVE the combination of colours, patterns and textures and how you totally live that aesthetic.
I am a quarter hungarian due to my grandfather on my mother's side, I want to learn more about hungarian culture, and this video was really informative! Love it
I really enjoyed this video, I love that first wide ribbon, it's amazing! I have used wool instead of ribbon when my hair was longer. Loved seeing your folk costume, I have a Norwegian bunad, but we wear our shawl on the outside of the vest. mine is called vest Agder bunad, if you ever want to have a look ❤️🇧🇻
Wow i just found this channel and love it!! my grandmother was Lovari roma from Hungary and i love learning more about hungarian, transylvanian, and romani culture
I'm super new to your channel and I love it! I was wondering how you trim your hair yourself? You probably don't trim it super often, but I would love to see a video on how you do! As my hair gets longer, I want to cut it myself. I have curly hair and the ends get really frizzy. But I did use oil recently because of one of your videos and it's been amazing!
I love this channel. I wanted to try out the shampoo she recommended. The shampoo under conditioner I could get those. Also wanted to have the oil repair for my hair and let's say they just don't sell it to my country which is kind of weird got the shampoo and the conditioner.
Thanks for the interesting cultural lesson. I was wondering, is there a reason why you did not add the ribbon in at the beginning of the braid, but rather after you had braided several inches?
Mostly 2 reasons: firstly, it's just easier to maneuver the ribbon as soon as I can see it over my shoulder (if your braiding someone else's hair, feel free to add it sooner), but also because one of the functionalities of the ribbon was to "thicken" the braid, as in, make the hair look thicker, healthier -- remember the part about girls with longer/thicker hair being more desirable for marriage? :D Most people's hair thins away along its length, so the base of the braid will probably still be luscious, but lower you go the more handy the trick becomes.
I keep imagining a lady stuffing her ribbons with feathers and her husband feeling so decived the first time she takes out her braid to comb or wash it. I guess they slept in their braids and put it up in the morning anyway. Combing and braiding it every day would damage it. But then I have fine hair that snarls like crazy when long. Other's hair might not be so delicate and have to cut the snarls out.
Hello! Are you from Oradea? I think I saw you each day on the tram going to school in the center of the city, maybe attended the same school if I'm not mistaking you with someone else. Nice RUclips channel you have here!
The romany do this too, i am one of those and have hungarian blood from it. I love the music and ofcourse the folk dresses and styles. I really want a folk vest , any tips where to get one ?
I recently learned my family is Hungarian! My great great great grandma mashler was from Hungary. Which I think means I’m a 6th generation American? Anyways I’m trying to learn more about my heritage if anyone can help I would love some.
@@nana.whatscooking7783 you could google it (search it up), and see if any retailers in Sweden sell it. If not, you might have to order from overseas. If it helps, I have heard of that brand and I'm in Australia, which is notoriously hard to ship to.
Because they were besties for hundreds of years :D “Lengyel, magyar két jó barát, együtt harcol, s issza borát”/“Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki, i do szabli, i do szklanki”
Now I understand why creepy older women say mean things about long hair and ask if a girl is trying to find someone to get married too!😂 in the United States some older women hate any girl who doesn’t always keep her hair super short or more commonly “not more than two inches past her shoulders.”
I'm from the US, am 66, and have long natural curly hair. Sorry that some have been mean spirited towards the way you want your hair. Never try to please others, after all, you have to live with how you look and who you are. I choose to look the way that makes me feel best, as well be the way that makes me feel happy about who I am as a person. The ladies you have encountered must be miserable with themselves, and want company. May you find joy and peace being the best for you, as well as for those who you meet in your day to day life.
Where are you from? I'm from Michigan, and I've never heard of such a thing, but the United States are a big country and we have many regional differences (most of them very positive)
I'm 70 years old and from Texas. My Granny wore long braids wrapped around her head several times. My older sis and I have almost waist length curly hair. Some people make comments about my long hair. But I have lived long enough to do what makes me happy.
@@genevabrantner365 That’s good. It helps to hang out with people who respect your boundaries and don’t gaslight you and take your resources away or add in stress to what you love. I’m learning about it.
That reenaction of the disapproving ladies is EVERYTHING 🤣🤣🤣
I love learning about Hungarian Folk culture through these videos!
That’s great! I’m so happy to make them! It just feels amazing that so many people are interested :)
After discovering your channel I'm really glad I've grown out my hair after having short hair most of my adult life. I'm 60 now

I just loved her gentle and satisfying voice...ASMR🥰🥰🥰
love the embroidered bows and ribbons, right now I have very short hair but I think I'll braid my hair like that when it grows back again. : )

Will you make a tutorial on Romy Schneider’s sissi crown braid? Love your vids ❤
Thank you so much for this!
If length of hair measured the prettiest one these days I’d be the most gorgeous person around.
I remember Isabella Rosalini wore her hair in a braided wreath and headscarf in the film Immortal Beloved.
