- Onshape is cloudbased cad-software which runs in a browser - chrome - firefox - and therefore can be used on an ipad or android-pad as well. For private use it is completely free of charge. I thought it might be a good idea to do some onshape video tutorials. If you agree and want to see more - please give it a like or leave a comment down below.

Thank you Wolfgang for your beautiful tutorials!
I love the "slow pace" of your presentations. Even if it makes them a little boring, sometimes, it allows the newbies like myself to grasp and understand every single detail of your procedure.
Also, the fact that sometimes you take the wrong direction (like the choice of a wrong plane in this example @ 21'00") allows us to learn the options that we have to fix our - many! - mistakes.
Good job indeed!
D
:) Thanks - I have to agree with you - to let all this "accidents" in the video is on purpose - first it could be helpful - and second it would take too much time to cut all the "mistakes". Also if I do the exercise in all programs, sometimes I get a little bit mixed up myself ;)
A legend, a myth, some might even say a monk of high quality talking to and for the whale homes of the isles, please give it up for Wolfgang Walden and his absolutely amazing tutorials and guidance. If this guy isn't a professor he should get offers soon.
Things I learned the first 15 minutes:
You can use Booleans to combine added parts
New Parts can be filleted easier and without damaging other parts
you can make new planes to help with the dimensions
You can pattern things instead of reputing them in
You can snip new parts to another sketch
2nd 15 minutes:
You can make a pattern circularly as well
Extruding through all can have two points
You can hide unnecessary planes
You should make some parallels sides symmetrical, while making another side coincide with a point if you want to trim parts off.
You can trip the circular bits off to make a rectangle + Circle shape
To copy and paste you need a 2nd plane offset from the main or other one
If a new part need filleting, just hide the main part to aid in finding the sides
Subtraction is between two different parts, use the 2nd part to subtract from the 1st
You can use a feature mirror and mirror an addition by the main plane
You can pattern holes as well
Thank you @Wolfgang Walden
Sadly I´m not a professor. But thanks for this amazing praises - made me LOL
Thank you so much for your videos. I have followed and done 4 of your trainings and I will do the rest of them very soon. I am so excited about your works! Love your works!
Thanks for your praise, much appreciated :)
I love this!!! I’m finally getting good enough and familiar with settings to keep up. Now just need a connecting rod and piston to make it functional!
Great - take a look here : www.linkedin.com/learning/cad-lernen-volumenmodellierung
Again, Great video! Good explanations of what you are doing and the slow pace is great for newbs like me to follow along. The slow pace also provides me with plenty of spots where I can pause the video then go to another tab and try what you've just shown me.
Thanks,
thanks for your praise 🙂
super video hat mir echt weitergeholfen dann sinds nur noch 98 weitere :D
Prima 🙂da kommen noch mehr 😉
Thank you for a really good tutorial.....I have learnt at least 3 different techniques from this video, cant wait to watch the next one.
Thanks - great - keep watching ;)
Nice presentation. Thanks for the video
You ´re welcome.
This one is very nice too to learn.
.. we use a lot of tools, that my second one... going to do the next one ! crankshaft !
Great :)
21:40. Why not drag the sketch below the new plane (in the feature tree column), then open said sketch, & just choose the new plane?
Yes, this would work as well. But you might have noticed, I did that video about 5 years ago and this was the first model I did in onshape , without knowing anything about onshape. So for a first try, it went pretty well, didn´t it?
As of today in June 2021, on this part 8:17 making a linear pattern of the cooling fins, you will need to check *apply per instance* for it to work. The option is not shown in this video because this option was later added to on shape.
Yes, so I would have to redo all videos from time to time ;)
Thank you
you´re welcome 🙂
thanks mate !
you´re welcome 🙂
tqz a lot really useful one.....can we insert a piston or something to make it a completly finished one
Of course you can ;)
@wolfgang, is there courses to sell in english ? thank you .
Sorry, my LinkedIn courses, which you could buy, are only available in German because of LinkedIn Learning policies.
good tutorial but would recommend cutting out the places where you made a mistake
Sorry, without earning money or getting paid for these videos? There are more than 1200 videos in my channel for FREE!
@@wolfgang.walden.cad.training Keep the mistakes inn there we can learn form them. Good tutorial btw.
Pls share dimensions or a 2d dwg
You will find the files I share (parts, assemblies, drawings etc.) on my grabcad account!
@@wolfgang.walden.cad.training pls give me the link.
that link is right there on my channel ;) grabcad.com/wolfgang.walden-1/models
Herr Walden another Great Video! Will you do the same for Shapr3D and Spaceclaim?
I have created a Timeline for anyone who wants to try other software, but I hope you do these in the future: Shapr3D, Spaceclaim, Alibre, Iron CAD, etc.
Crankcase Steps from OnShape Video by Wolfgang Walden
ruclips.net/video/WxNc9rWp9gI/видео.html
Step 1. 0:39 Select Sketching plane
Step 2. 0:45 Draw 38mm circle at the Center Point
Step 3. 0:55 Extrude 33.5mm each direction, a symmetrical cylinder about Center Point.
Step 4. 1:18 Motor Mounting Lugs: Sketch rectangle on the center plane, 60x6mm Centered on the Vertical axis.
Step 5. 2:10 Extrude 33.5mm Sym
Step 6. 2:31 Create new Plane offset 33.5mmm from the center plane. ( Front Plane )
Step 7. 2:47 Sketch Rectangle 38x8mm Sym, distance bottom of Rectangle to Center Point 19mm.
Step 8. 3:40 Extrude Rectangle ( as body part ) 10mm toward the center.
Step 9. 4:16 Make 4mm Fillets on outer edges.
Step 10. 4:46 Make a linear pattern of Rectangle ( 6,7,8) as a part pattern.
Step 11. 5:03 Pattern normal to the plane. First Direction.
Step 12. 5:11 23.5mm Front to Back.
Step 13. 5:24 Pattern ( 2 parts ) bottom to top. Distance = 30mm Second Direction
Step 14. 5:46 Combine the 2 parts.
Step 15. 6:21 Create new plane ( From midpoint - Up ) 67.5mm Up ( Offset )
Step 16. 6:38 Sketch a circle on top-line plane thru Midpoint = Top plane X -Y thru midpoint Circle 32mm.
Step 17. 7:06 Extrude circle Up to the New Plane Step 14
Step 18. 7:31 Sketch 43mm dia Circle on topmost plane Step 14
Step 19. 5:58 Extrude 1.5mm down toward the Center
Step 20. 8:16 Pattern ( feature pattern ) the feature created in Steps 17 and 18, Direction down, D = 3, instances = 8
Step 21. 8:49 Sketch a 49x11mm rectangle on the Y - Z plane, the plane that runs thru the center point, lengthwise thru the crankcase, sym to midpoint. Distance from bottom of the rectangle to
centerline, 41 - 5.5mm or 35.5mm.
Step 22. 9:45 Extrude rectangle from Step 21 from the center to left 26mm as a new part.
Step 23. 10:01 Make 5.5mm fillets on 4 front & back rectangle box edges.
Step 24. 10:29 Combine Parts
Step 25. 10:43 Sketch a circle on topmost plane D = 43mm.
Step 26. 11:33 Sketch a rectangle on topmost plane 26mm wide, extending beyond part.
Move right edge to Center Point. Trim rectangle lines on the outside of the circle: This will be used to create the gas passage side of the crankcase. Trim circle Step 24 outside of
rectangle Step 25.
Step 27. 12:21 Extrude UP 44mm, as a new part.
Step 28. 12:52 Create 5mm fillets on lengthwise edges of Extruded Rectangle Step 22.
Step 29. 13:14 Make Union of parts 1 & 2.
Step 30. 13:27 Make circle sketch on the topmost plane, dia 7mm, Center Point 17mm from the midpoint.
Step 31. 14:09 Extrude circle Step 29 down toward center 8mm.

This is still a work in progress,
I do trainings for Autocad, Autocad Mechanical, Autocad Architecture, Revit Architecture, Inventor, Fusion 360, Catia v5/v6, Solidworks, Siemens NX, SolidEdge, 3ds Max, Maya, Onshape, Nanocad and Draftsight. At the moment I don´t intend to cover more.
u just do it and don’t tell us how
I would recommend that you give me a time stamp if you want to "complain", by the way I did this video almost 4 years ago. So how the hell should I know what you are talking about?
