I came up with a random head canon that dragons 500+ years ago had sick hair 😎

My personal favorite headcanons for Sandwings:
When a Sounding Queen dies, the entire tribe mourns for seven days, and seven nights. When they do mourn, they do not eat or drink water during this time. Then on the midnight of the final day of mourning, there is a giant feast held in the castle to which the entire tribe is invited, to celebrate the queen's rule while it lasted, and as a celebration for the new queen to come.
Sandwing royalty will be mummified (like Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt) and laid to rest with their most prized possessions. There is a place deep below the Sandwing Palace that is Specifically for dead sandwing royalty. If a royal is not buried there, it is believed that they will torment the royal family with bad luck for the next 100 years, and the only way to fix it is to give them a proper burial.
A sandwing dragonet that dies before it can hatch is believed to have been an evil spirit, and that you have barely escaped your entire bloodline being cursed. But if you had multiple eggs and only one dies before it can hatch, then the rest of the dragonets are the evil spirits...this is why sandwings tend to only have one egg at a time, so they can avoid this curse.
First Hatched Sandwings are often given mighty names, seeing as they are the ones who will be most likely to carry on the bloodline, while the youngest are often given rather pathetic names, seeing as the family doesn't expect much for them.
    That's it for now-

The last one can actually tie in with the three princesses very well! Idk if canon stated which hatched first, but Burn did strike me as the oldest, and can be seen as a stronger name than Blister. And Blaze was the weakest and not even interested in being queen (if I remember right), and that definitely fits the headcanon of not being the one expected to carry their bloodline.

This will give the Idea of that dragonets or dragons from other tribes can still be friends and a stopping of a long lasting War!

My favourite personal headcannon I’ve made :
I like to think that Skywings kinda worship birds, because they also fly to. Seeing a bird that is injured/flightless could be a bad omen to them, and eating certain kinds of birds (birds of prey/larger birds) is very disrespectful and often frowned upon. This kinda plays in with the feathered dragons/skywing wings headcannon aswell

  • @ariartsy9220

Buckle up folks, about to share a REALLY long headcanon list
    *MUSIC*
-SeaWings _love_ opera and classical, it's like their _whole thing_. There's an entire concert hall in the Summer Palace where they perform symphonies
-SandWings' main style of music is blues, whether acapella or with an instrument, you'll always hear it on the streets of the Scorpion Den
-SkyWings sing choir and also have classical. Opera has not quite taken off in the Sky kingdom, though musicals are very popular. They put on a musical almost every week
-MudWings play Louisiana jazz and are very passionate when it comes to it. Walk through a MudWing village, you'll hear more than a few MudWings playing it
-IceWings in the lower ranks' favorite music style is definitely throat singing/tribal style music. The higher ranks do occasionally have this, but they've also adopted classical
-While most think NightWings would be all about classical, their usual style is actually jazz, specifically the jazz that evokes the feeling of a late slow night
-RainWings have very tribal music, quite different from any other tribe. They often sing in an ancient language accompanied by some kind of flute or drum
    *CHILDCARE*
-We already know how MudWings don't usually care for their children... But actually, sometimes, they _do_. Some MudWings feel very maternal and make amazing mothers
-IceWings are very close with their children. Children will live with their parents in a familial home their entire lives, until they marry, at which point the husband moves into his wife's home and joins her family. With same-sex relationships, either one can move in
-NightWings are also very close, and probably the most similar to us humans. Most NightWings homeschool their children or send them to a private school, but public schools are a thing. On the volcano, though, everyone's a bit distant
-SeaWings care deeply for their children, and often put them in harnesses while they're young so they don't get taken by the tide. While children are urged to make their own living, parents will always have a place for them
-SkyWings are a mixed bag. It really depends on the individual. Some SkyWings are amazing parents that care for their children, others would rather send them to a wingery to be raised there. Some SkyWings even steal other SkyWings' eggs from the hatchery
-RainWings, as we know, raise dragonets as a community. They don't really have a concept of parentage, though they _do_ now keep careful track of families
-SandWings live in small tight-knit families, but they're basically forced out of the house when they reach maturity and are told to make their own living. It's not typical for them to live with their parents once they reach adult-hood
    *RELIGION*
-MudWings worship the very earth they walk on, believing they were made from the mud and clay
-IceWings believe in a pantheon of gods and multiple realms that are linked to the tallest mountain in the kingdom
-NightWings believe the moons are three goddesses that give them their powers and watch over them at night
-SeaWings believe that Pyrrhia is actually one giant ancient dragon of the Sea who blessed her children with waterbreathing
-SkyWings believe in a pantheon of gods, each representing a different aspect of nature, as well as reincarnation
-RainWings don't believe in any gods, they simply believe in being peaceful. Surprisingly, they also believe in reincarnation

    - Animus dragons can be "possessed" if they use too many spells, this is shown by black sclera and possibly slightly red tinged to completely red, permanently constricted irises depending on how many spells are used.
    - Bloodmoon nightwings have an extra red metallic scale under their eye, while skyfire nightwings have an extra orange metallic scale, and the fake brightest night born nightwings have an extra teal metallic scale.

And my favorite lore piece is that every Silkwing (prior to the Tree Wars) was named Monarch. Antleast the first born females were. Silkwings had peaceful transitions of power. When a Queen got to a certain age she would step down and give the power to her oldest born. Their would be a long line of Queen Monarchs, England style. my night wing head cannon:
where the live + appaerance due to the place the live:
i believe if the nightwings instead of migrating to a volcano, (around darkstalkers time) they would go to a cave, and when it came to the DOD time nightwings would take on a more bat like appearance, super large ears, 1 pair of main wings and then a smaller pair near the base of their tail, very hooked talons and wing claws and a smaller sized tail. they would depend on sound (so their ears become larger) more than sight due to caves being pretty much pitch black but over time they would addapt and have extreme night vision.
    where they hatch:
i also think it would be cool that all nightwings would be born inside caves out of moonlight and that the only time the hatch under the moon is the day dark stalker terrorized their tribe, they would move all of the eggs into direct moonlight and the eggs that hatch by chance on that night would be the only ones with mindreading/future seer/both. the whole tribe is also required to watch the eggs lucky enough to hatch under moonlight.
    religion?:
due to darkstalker the tribe now has kings, the decided this was the best idea due to darkstalker dreaming to become a king and the tribe didnt want another young male dragon do what darkstalker did due to gender restrictions. the previous ruler will chose the best of their offspring instead of it being whoever is 1st born. whenever a king is selected the tribe throughs a huge feast because its pretty rare.
in the week leading up to the day they migrated they would eat bats for good luck in trying to prevent a similar case like darkstalker, then the week after that they dont eat in symbolising their ancestors who passed due to darkstalker who now dont have the privilege of living in a safe and welcoming tribe. only a few nightwings are selected to go hunt the day before the start the fast and leave the deceased prey (like the saliva thing in the main cannon) then collected the day they have a feast and the whole tribe is invited to celebrate out of the cave and they through a huge feast.
They celebrate the blood moon by eating bats, the pink moon by painting 1 pink circle on each wing, super moons by dressing in silver jewellery and blue moons by drinking blue dyed alcohol (1 cup) and for kids blue dyed water. there are guards that specifically watch the moon and they are called 'the moonseers' and whenever these moon events happen they tell the queen/king. the queen/king will announce this to the tribe and all the tribe celebrates until dawn where they go back into the caves.
    ability's:
    - the way bats hunt using sound
    - loss of most fire
    - super hearing
    - extreme night vision but practically blind in day light
    - bacteria saliva
(maybe ill draw this and post on my Devaint art acc, along with this easay lmao)

One of my favorite head cannons is as follows: If a twin egg had fire scales (ex: sky and peril) their fire scales couldn’t burn eachother. If they both grew in the same egg, if they didn’t have some sort of fire scales protection, the other baby would be scorched in the egg, just like how Scarlet lied to Peril in book 1, but this actually makes sense. If Peril had a natural heat coming off of her while growing in the egg, (which most likely got hotter and hotter the closer she was to hatching) Sky would be most likely dead, unless by some miracle he survived, he would still not be even more malnourished and disfigured, having his features melted and burned in development, but most likely dead. So in summary, Firescales twins cannot be hurt by eachothers fire scales!

Welcome to My Kind of Head Cannon Kind of AU! : Animus dragons fight different, it’s hard to tell but their more graceful and fast when fighting. The tribes that had animus have gained it back (10 years post war end), the icewings gained it first, a royal dragonet named Frost getting his animus first, then sandwings, then skywings. Animus dragons have a chance to hatch with a small pair of extra wings, frost did not. All animus dragons will hatch with three rigged Diamond shaped scales behind their ears. MORE AU-ISH PARTS : Their is a lost tribe that was found on Pyrrha, their called stone-wings, a strong tribe that can turn to solid stone. They look like larger rainwings, the spikes of icewings, the size of skywings with leafwing horns. The first member of this tribe found was said to be named Sapphire. The colour of the scales of these dragons can range from dark reds to bright pinks, they are named after caves, gems, and stones.
Yeah that last part is definitely just an AU- IT’S AN ENTIRELY NEW TRIBE!

    Some of my headcanons!
    - NightWings, LeafWings, and RainWings have echolocation. It was developed for roughly the same reason- environment. RainWings and LeafWings have this due to not being able to see too well through all the vegetation, though LeafWings with leafspeak don't have it. NightWings developed it after relocating to the volcano, as the smoke and ash made it hard to see, so any NightWings born here (or the rainforest, due to the same reason as RainWings and LeafWings.
    - IceWings, SeaWings, and HiveWings don't actually roar. IceWings make a loud screech, SeaWings make a sound similar to that of a whale, and HiveWings have a chattering sound similar to some insects like crickets and cicadas. NightWings are known to make bat-like screeches once in a while, if their roar is more frantic than angry.
    - Moorhen lost some of her siblings in the early battles of the War of SandWing Succession, when her parents were fighting alongside them, so when she became queen she changed the system to have arranged courtships so siblings could look after each other all the time.
    - Wasp's mind control wasnt as strong when she ingested it. She tried several methods, including eyedrops, bathing in it, and even snorting it like a drug. Eventually she realized that boiling the juice and breathing in the fumes was the most effective, and that was how she and the breath of evil itself came to the idea of burning the root, so the SilkWings would breathe it in and become controllable.
    - IceWing spikes aren't actually spikes. They're fuzzy tufts of fur that they stick up to make themselves look more intimidating. When blizzards become to rough for them to see in, they flop the fur just over the top of their eyes so they can see in the snow.

That would be cool for the rainwings and especially helpful for blind ones like Tamarin. It'd also make finding a fellow camouflaged rainwing easier. For the leafwings though, I think thermal vision would fit them better since they're carnivorous (or omnivorous?) and more accustomed to fighting than Rainwings.

My by far favorite Icewing head headcanon.
Ice wing dragonets are born sporting a thick layer of fluff. They are also born with antlers, Icewing hatchlings often loss their fluff once they are around 3 years old, but in a few cases dragonets never fully loss their fluff. Which as the dragonet ages, the fluff becomes feathers, and they often have patches that reveal their true scales. Their feathers or fluff are often dull colors, the brightest color known for the feathers and fluff being white.
    Headcanon 2.
Long lines of pearl finding families in the Sea Kingdom often vanish with no traches. No one cares in the Kingdom as there are hundreds of other families. Those families often disappear once they began to dive deeper and deeper for pearls. Most found endless caves of clams, and they told their family, who most of the time ended up telling other pearl finding families. These often ended up become deep water villages, they ever rarely come up from the depths. Most dragons die quickly from the pressure change. After a few hundred years of being extremely adapted to the depths of the Sea Kingdom they became a new tribe! They have been deemed "TreachWings." They have no true queen, but a advisor for every large city. Treachwings have no true religion, but they often believe in four goddesses. Irawo, goddess of the moon, and often fertilely. Oorun, the sun goddess, and often deemed a veil and and cruel dragon who burned any dragon that came from the depths. Ale, the goddess of the moon and often seen as a powerful and wise dragon. Iru, the third and final goddess of the moon. She is often seen as a mother, and caring dragon.
ok! headcanon two got a bit off track. I used Yoruba words for the goddesses names. Irawo meaning moon, Oorun meaning sun, Ale meaning night, and Iru meaning tail.

a headcanon that i have is that rainwings used to have a giant mystical tree, the fruit of which could grant animus magic to non-animus dragons.
this privilege could only be held by two dragons at any given time, those dragons serving as part of the royal court. when those dragons passed on, a grand test (similar to the queen tournament, only more arduous) would be held for any individual who sought to prove themselves worthy of replacing them and wielding the magic.
the dragons who completed the trials would undergo a religious ceremony. the fruit of the tree would be ground into a paste, as eating the fruit in its raw form was seen as disrespectful to it's gift. then, dressed in elaborate neckwear made from the shed scales of all the previous animus dragons and horns adorned with the flowers of the tree, they would consume the paste.
the dragons would then sunbathe for up to two days, using the sun's warmth to spread the fruit's magic throughout their bodies (meaning only rainwings would be able to use the tree's magic).
long ago, something happened to the tree--nobody can agree if it was an attack from another tribe or a devastating forest fire, but what can be agreed upon is that the tree no longer stands in the rainforest kingdom.
rumors and legends say the seeds of the tree remain hidden in the depths of the forest, waiting to be discovered by a dragon brave enough to find them.

my headcanons are often more character specific but I'd like to list some of my favorites in general :)
    1. Flamesilk antennae have little red tips (so like the base is normal colored but is red/orange/yellow tipped and kinda looks like fire) - Flamesilk will have normal antennae up until their Metamorphosis where, similar to their wings, the tips will emerge.
    2. The Outclaws wear bandanas around their necks that have some sort of symbol on it - I like to think that in general SandWings tend to wear lots of "clothing" because of the heat, so its only natural that different groups of SandWings will wear matching pieces of clothing. I think I've come to the conclusion that the Outclaw symbol would likely be a beetle, due to Thorn calling Sunny "beetle" when she was an egg :)
as an extension of this hc, Vulture got the idea for his capes/hoods from the Outclaws. (obv replacing the beetle with a vulture)
    3. Some RainWings have big flower shaped frills that go around their neck instead of the small ones behind their ears :3 This extends to other of their traits, such as their spines being different shapes/sizes. These often contribute to their names. (eg. named after a flower, or having a trait-name such as "Extravagant" for their impressive large frills lol)
    4. THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE! SkyWings have military "code names"? i don't know how to describe it. But it originated from when I made a Top Gun inspired SkyWing oc named Tyto. They all have nicknames (my OC's nn/codename whatever its called is "Owl" because Tyto is a species of owl), as well as dogtags and armor that is personalized to them :) (if anyone can correct my horrible terminology, please do)
thats all from me though :)

While these aren’t cultural Headcannons, here are some descriptive ones! Might add more later.
    - Night wings are Crepsecular
    - Icewings hunt like Artic foxes,
    - Icewings don’t have ears, but have great hearing
    - While most dragons only grow up to 10ft tall averagely, Seawings older then ~50 can grow up to fifteen feet and Nightwings can grow between 15-20 feet tall.
    - Sand wings work much like camels, and they can go very long without water and have extra eyelids and lashes for flies and sandstorms
    - Most Icewings don’t have irises, and they are much more likely to have greyscale color blindness then any other tribe.
    - Seawings have barley any spikes, their horns and claws are very rounded and don’t do much damage, but because of this they have less traction in water and can swim much better with flatter scales and open gills. Their backs feel like a dolphins.
    - Sky wings’s ribcages aren’t actually connected to their spines, and their bones are much thinner and smaller. because of this they can slip into smaller places and slip in narrow cracks, and generally don’t grow much about 10ft and break their bones much easier
    - Seawings ear’s are floppy; they open up on the inside and have many layers protecting them from ear infections. Sky wings have flat ears that go down, so air goes above the ear skin and not into it. Sandwings ears are thinner and much larger. Mudwings ears go towards the head and are much smaller then the rest of their body.
    - Rainwings have thick bones and thin scales/skin, so they get cuts very easy but rarely ever break bones

(Note I made specifically for you all; don't read if you don't have spare few minutes I am so sorry I didn't realize how long this is lmfao)
I have a "religious" headcanon, but for Icewings - The Great Ice Dragon is the main cause of them being, well, Icewings.
I always felt odd about Sand and Ice kingdoms, like, how came they just so suddenly start? I can kinda get the Sand kingdom, but ICE? WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?
So, I spend some time making a few observations about the series, looked here and there, and soon noticed it - the biggest of the moons is named Imperial. The other, Oracle and Perception. Their names represent the Nightwing powers; Oracle is "a priest or priestess acting as a medium through whom advice or prophecy was sought from the gods in classical antiquity", while Perception is "the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses," and Imperial is a bit tricky. It's mainly the meaning of a ruler, and empire, belonging to a ruler, "A person with a domineering and controlling manner is an example of someone who would be described as having an imperial personality."
That fits the main three powers; Future seeing, Mind reading and animi. Or, perhaps, the Nightwing powers and overall special features. While the animi gene may play the final role in a dragon becoming an animus, I have a feeling the Moons also have something to do with it.
So, I figured, why not mix The Great Ice Dragon with the Moons? After all, both are viewed as deity-like and play important roles in their tribes' lives.
So the dragonized Moons were created. Oracle bringing the future seeing, Perception gifting mind reading, while Imperial is the final one. It was the first to exist, and has the most powerful influence on all other deity-like things. They fulfill each other, their gifts coming to a halt when just one of them suffers.
They can gift live dragons only during the night, when their respective Moons are present. Because of this, all Nightwings can get powers only during two Moons. Instead of the best powers coming during three Moons, their power depends on who gifts them, and how?
Oracle and Perception rely on each other for their gifts. They fulfill each other. They only have one wing and one eye due to their past experiences. While Imperial can lend a talon, during two Moons, only they fly down and gift Nightwing their respective power. They cannot gift two powers to the same dragonet. It's purely a 50/50, but it can be guessed via the egg position. During three Moons, Imperial watches over them and offers its own ways of power, allowing both Oracle and Perception to gift one dragonet. Which they do, most of the time.
Only Imperial is needed for things such as animi and other powerful features, and they do not need to be at night; after all, these are genes it so happens to have power over. If it can't decide on them during the day, it can't make them not present. It can only gift the specified tribes, ie. no full Rainwings. Even though Clearsight created Hivewings and Silkwings, they cannot be gifted neither mind reading, future seeing, nor any feature by them. Everything is purely genetic, explaining how often flamesilks can exist. It is a very long curse placed upon the Pantalans due to past experiences.
There are more deity-like dragons, but they aren't as relevant as the Moons or complete yet. There is definitely Mirrored Wasp, aka the reason the Pantalans curse was laid (not Queen Wasp from Arc3), but other 'deities' like Puppeter who is the memory of Darkstalker haunting the world are yet to be complete and even confirmed in it.

This seems like a good time to share my headcanons of how I imagine each tribes scales would feel like.
Icewings: They're scales would feel rough and coarse to the touch, rather thick too.
Skywings: They're scales would feel spikey yet smooth.
Seawings: They're scales would be similar to the feel of fish scales.
Mudwings: They're scales would feel a lot like alligator scales.
Nightwings: They're scales would feel like rough kimono dragon scales.
Silkwings: They're scales would feel hella smooth, sort of like fur.
Rainwings: They're scales would feel like extra large chameleon scales.
Sandwings: They're scales would feel somewhat like rough concrete.
Leafwings: They're scales would feel papery, like leaves.
Hivewings: They're scales would have a sticky feel to them, ya'know those moments where you touch something and it feels like it should be wet? Basically that's how Hivewing scales would feel, sticky to the touch but when you remove your hand nothing is stuck to it.

    My head canons!
    Sea wings:
Sea Wings have angler antennas and brighter bioluminescent scales if they live in the twilight zone. Most sea wings that live in the twilight zone live in solitude and have sensitive eyes due to their eyes being used to dark spaces. These dark sea wings are most likely outcasts and if they aren’t, they do not have good connections to the sea wing tribe as a whole. Some form small pods (groups of sea wings) or communities and run their own traditions, culture and even have separate queens!
    Sand Wings:
Sand Wing’s go into a scorpion pose when threatened. This does not mean the yoga pose, this means the real pose of the real life animal! Sand wings will spread their legs apart, wings out, and have their tail barbs up over their head so they jab the threat/prey easily.
    EDIT: I have more!
    Sandwings:
I like to imagine that sandwing society is similar to Egypt. This the belief of multiple gods and having both female and male rulers accent the throne. They also build tombs/temples/pyramids for their fallen hero’s and kings/queens/ royal family to pay honor to them. They will bury them with what the Egyptians used, treasure, pets, and food!
They also use simular hierarchy with Royals, Nobles, priests, merchants, and citizens. I refrained form using the role of slaves to avoid conflict and offense towards others.

I have a headcanon that the Rainwings believe in three great goddesses, God of the rains, sun, and moons respectively. I think that all tribes followed this religion but after the scorching they all stopped following the gods in favor of making powerful kingdoms instead. This is why the rainwings never use jewels, and why they don't have a large kingdom, they think the gods will punish them for hubris. They treasurer the sun goddesses above all of them, and often pray against the moon goddess, until the nightwings found out they got their powers from the moons, then the rainwings continued to see the moon goddess as a powerful figure to accommodate.

More about Fox wings: they are friendly and usually cheerful dragons that are highly respectful of the land and all animals within the only take what they need no more no less the reason for this is that they’re a bit religious and they have one primary god and a few others they believe long ago that this god gave them the ability to speak to animals and that those born with stuff such as albinoism are descended from gods and are rather celebrated
. Fox wings are usually shy timid and kind and will not hesitate to help a dragon in need but if their loyalty is broken they can turn on you in an instant with higher senses than all the other tribes and retracting claws like cats they could either make a great ally or a deadly foe they also often have animal companions that they have a ceremony for once a cub (what they call Young dragons) is about to turn into an adult they will venture out into the forest for five days until they find an animal companion no matter if it’s a snake horse or even a bear the whole tribal accept them it is considered a great dishonor to harm or eat this animal and you can even be punished severely for doing so The royal family are often adorned with one single piece of obsidian which is a very rare jewel in their kingdom and it is a sign of great wealth and the Royal family often try to lead by example and fox wings are known to be great parents and leaders they celebrate autumn solstice and they have a celebration for each season these celebrations are coming together of all the tribes everyone is welcome everyone will pitch in to host a grand feast for everyone and they will even pitch in to host a smaller feast for the animals and pets anything that is unused or an eaten will be thrown out into the forest to help it grow or for other animals to eat and they understand better than anyone what over hunting can do and they often limit how many animals you can hunt per season their ecosystem is very balanced along with the Plant life and hierarchy along with personality they are considered the very kindest of all the tribes especially the shadow wings which are usually relentless merciless and stone cold they live in the tail area of their continent there aren’t usually conflicts between them or anyone else because they’re happy to give any other kingdom the support they need which often bridges strong alliances they have one major flaw they are easy to manipulate and take advantage of and they rarely catch onto this and this led to wars and lots of treason especially with royal advisers to them this leads The royal family to have constant paranoia they don’t have any other abilities such as changing color or spitting acid/poison/venom they’re usually very quick and nimble not known for being strong but they’re excellent navigators and can fly through thick forests with ease their body type is usually slim and sleek

Any tribe with fire can have firescales - most twin eggs just have a minor imbalance, one twin slightly warmer than another, yk. Flamescales are most common in sky wings, because they have a lot of fire, but Nightwings and Mudwings have them too - just rarely. And if they do, the twin with no fire often is either stillborn or burns to a crisp inside the egg.
Extra: mudwing siblings tend to shun their firescales sib, one because danger, two because they killed their twin inside the egg and that’s bad or something. It’s obviously very stupid but it’s a very common stigma

My personal au/headcanon for my ocs
The dragons have a holiday like Halloween but instead it's called "the darkest night" it's when no moons are able to be seen in the sky and the nightwings temporary have trouble in making prophecies and mindreading. (Based off of when sunny scares the nightwings by pretending to be darkstalker) dragons will try and scare eachother by tricks and other shenanigans. The darkest night even though it's like our Halloween is still feared by many dragons mainly skywings who's religious beliefs make them scared when there's no light in the sky (sun, moons and stars) the skywings and nightwings hate this "Holliday" the most but thankfully it is a rare event- (idk if any of this makes sence bc I went all over the place and poorly explained it but in my mind it works)

  • @Orcagutz_

    my headcannons:
so just like firescales and no fire dragons icewings have frostscales and no frost dragons, they happen just like firescales by the first twin absorbing the other twin's frost. frostscale dragons also have better cold resistance than no frost dragons, no frost dragons easily get frostbite and if out in the snow long enough die. frostscale dragonets are kept by the queen/kings to use for war and battles. while the no frost dragonet is thrown into the snow as they have no use. other headcannon is that important dragons who die have a chance to become ghostwings. while important but evil dragons are stuck on the ground to suffer. also nightwings and leafwings have a same system just like mudwing sibs. nightwings who live like 'sibs' are called clusters. lead by the most powerful dragon called the starwing. while leafwings have branches and if big enough, trees. their leader is the one with the most leafspeak. and last headcannon, hivewings developed the hivemind power to be something natural. because so many hivewings had dragonets that had the power inherited by the ones who were injected with the othermind plant as eggs. i have more but this too long anyways

RainWing ruffs are a set of feathers protecting the ear, but they can also change colour due to being less like bird-feathers and more like the aforementioned down of the IceWings, though more adapted to attract a mate and less to protect from the cold,
SeaWings have the most genetic variation of all tribes, and scale colours considered ‘unusual’ are actually fairly common, like Anemone and Albatross’s strange colours.

Heres soneof my little headcanons in my au im working on (i havent staryed it besides these headcanons 😭😭)
Icewings are floofy! But they slowly lose their floof and have none left when theyre ten 😭😭 jk! They still have ear floof and talon floof bc those are vulnerable parts where their skin isnt covered by scales!! (I draw all dragons eith pawpads so thats skin)
Rainwing frills become larger with age!! It gets to their ear level when theyre three and when theyre really old they have real big frills!!! Their frills edges also get sharper as they get older. Also rainwings with less sun have duller AND darker scales and raineings with like no sun (like glory) have really dull dark scales!!
SandWings have big floofy ears like fennec foxes and are more likely to wear cloth accessories then any other tribes are!
Mudwings look A LOT like crocidilians (and can have greenish scales!!
Skywings can have feathers and commonly have feathered wings, those which hatch from twin eggs are more liely to have feathers, and their feeathers are blue like theit eyes!!! and firescales feathers BURN even hotter than their scales!!!
Nighteings with prophecy have four pointed star shaped pupils which have sharper edges the more powerful their prophecy is!!! Like darkstalkers pupils are very visibly star shaped with real sharp edges but fatespeaker has BARELY star shaped pupils! Also this isnt JUST for nighteings but animuses pupils become more slitted then round and more small when they go insane so darkstalkers are just slits but like turtles are like just a bit smaller than a non animuses pupils
Seawings can have whiskers, chin tendrils, or neither, and their ehiskers(similar to a koi fishes') and chin tendrils can sometimes glow but not all seawings have these so its not really used in aquatic!
Silkwings can sometimes have floofy antennae or necks like some moths!!!!
Hiveiwngs which are royal have compound eyes like most insects!
Leafwings have a ring on their horns for each decade old they are!
I probably have more but im not sauing those rn lol!

    Headcannon list!
    Silkwings:
Flamesilks can be hurt by their own silk, but only if it's extremely hot, (or as Luna describes it in book 15, "sun silk")
Silkwings can have different wing shapes, such as triangular wings like a hawkmoth's, and other shapes resembling moths' or butterflies' wings.
    Leafwings
They can be orange, red, or even pink! Pink leafwings are extremely rare, but they look similar to a cherry blossom's flower.
They also are very connected to nature, and their religion revolves around plants mainly, as they see plants as the embodiment of mother nature herself. Because of this, those with strong leafspeak were considered prophets, until the tribe split into two. The Sapwings retained this ideology, while the Poisonwings started to see it more as a weapon.
    Seawings
Seawings have shark-like tails, and their wings have evolved to start to resemble fins. The tail shapes can vary.
They can be colored like tropical fish, and can be red, yellow, orange, and other tropical colors.
That's all for now. I'll edit this sometime later.

My fav headcanon that I created DONT STEAL PLS: during the scorching the first dragons were SandWings the ones with fur and stuff. So I was thinking while the other tribes were sort of evolving, some of the SandWings mated with them, causing some of the tribe to have fuzzier attributes. For example a fuzzy icewing would have fur instead of spikes, and reindeer antlers. For mudwings they would have fluffier fur on top, and ram horns. For skywings and rain wings they would have more feathers than I already imagine them with. Nightwings would have fuzzy big bat ears and fur around the body. Sea wings I imagine evolving after all the tribes had came into shape, and a large park of the tribe was not fuzzy at all. Mudwings , rainwings, and nightwings are the ones that are completely inclusive over the fuzzy ones, just calling them by their own names. Icewings however call the fuzzy ones snowwings. At least the ones that know the full story. Most icewings don’t know about snowwings and just think they have a mutation. Skywings refer to their heavily feathered ones as mountainwings. Mountainwings are always highly respected, and the feathers are treated as a sign of good wealth, and sometimes royalty. These genes go throughout every dragon except sea wings. Even with two normal parents, the offspring could still be fuzzy. Only the royal and high ranking icewings are the only dragons in all pyriahh to know about theses special genes. I hope you enjoy my head cannon!

Headcanon to go with the SkyWing headcanon: IceWings are *also* religious, as they believe that the souls of dragons who weren't buried properly or simply lived bad lives have to stay on Pyrrhia.
They say "great ice spirits" for first through thrid circle dragons and just "ice spirits" for anything below. We see an example of this in Winter Turning.

The 'Seawings dont talk until adults' bit reminded me of my own headcannon XD
    Headcannon:
Seawing dragonets don't talk often, as most of their dragonet-hood is spent trying to learn (and remember) Aquatic. They learn Dragon much later, making most *(not including- Royals, (Because what i am about to bring up is seen as a weakness in most of the royal part of the tribe) And Tsunami, (Because she was raised away from most of the seawings, and Dune was the one teaching them to speak (My headcannon ofc)) And some of the REALLY old **-because this is a relatively new concept-** seawings)* Seawings (like Webs and Pike) have a bad (Depending on the dragon) stutter.

My headcannon for seawings is that in their phospherescent scales there's some kind of substance that allows the scales to glow. When the scales get damaged, the substance leaks out, later regenerating when the scale heals

    • @ScrollWyrm-ed7gc
      @ScrollWyrm-ed7gc 8 месяцев назад

Ooh I have a similar one: that, like most bioluminescent animals, they have some form of blood-like luminescent substance in their glow-scales that, when split or cut into, will heal, but more slowly, and it will need more attention/care than normal wounds. Older dragons probably have a harder time regenerating it as well. This may be why Tui said that SeaWings have red blood in the first arc, but mentioned in passing that Tsunami’s was blue in book 15.

I’ve had a headcannon for RainWings, you know how they can change their scales? Ofc you do, well if they take on the task, I think hey can speak aquatic. Since they can change certain parts of their scales on certain parts of their bodies, that results in them having the ability to speak aquatic if they take on the task. Of course it may not be used frequently but maybe for some new Rainwing sign language or smth.

i have watched this vid to many times but im just gonna drop off some more headcannons. Firescale skywings are often also melanistic and ashscales are often albinos. also, Sandwings, Skywings and Mudwings come from the same ancient type of dragon, though later ended up splitting into diffrent types. also there are small western-like towns with cowboy sandwings scatterd all over the Sandwing kingdom :)

I have a head canon that some hivewings abandoned the hive after wasp started to use hive mind they hide underground and grew mushrooms 1000 years after arc 3 they emerge from the dirty tunnels they are much smaller have 2 wings and have 3 primary abilities some can control ants from the effects of hive mind some can eat poisonous fungi and a few royals have armoured scales
They have religion that after a royal with armoured scales dies if they are buried near a fungi garden the next year's harvest will be more healthy
The lowest rank is the dragons who can eat poisonous fungi they are mostly used to clean the ones that can control ants are usually guards
Armoured scales are seen as a sign of power
The current royal family consists of queen carpenter (armoured scales) princess army'ant (can control ants) prince termite (can eat poisonous fungi) and princess Mixed'ant (armoured scales)
Mixed'ant is the youngest royal but has the most power other than carpenter
