    As a retired mechanic I really appreciate the information you provided here. I would have very limited information available had you not shown me the pin numbers at the ECM connector. If you know where or how I might obtain the wiring diagrams for my 2021 L5P truck please let me know. Thanks very much! I am now subscribed.

      Alldata is what I use. Try Alldata DIY. It will cost you some $ though. I think you have to pay to unlock one vehicle for a whole year. Gets expensive but if you only need one vehicle it's not too bad.

    general motors is aware of the faulty part they have made a new part and therefore they should do the right thing and do a recall instead this cost falls consumers head we need a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue

    I know that some of the sensors utilize 5 V. I had to replace my injector and plan on cleaning all of them outside of the engine block. What is the appropriate voltage for the injectors?

    • @TechnicianRed
      @TechnicianRed  2 года назад

      Not sure on these Duramax injectors, but most are around 48V

    I keep having P026D appear after I delete it. Ever seen this? I've changed Map sensor, added S&B Map sensor spacer , changed fuel filter and cleaned air filter, but code keeps coming back. My BLUEDRIVER scanner reader says "fuel Injection Quantity higher than expected.

    • @TechnicianRed
      @TechnicianRed  2 года назад

      I haven't ran into that code yet but a quick Google search shows many things can cause it. Your best bet is to find a good repair shop as it would likely be hard for the DIYer to diagnose. The modern duramax platform takes lots of knowledge to properly troubleshoot.

      @@lasvegasrottweilersvomprei8589 I replaced all my glow plugs because I had a code on one of those too and CEL has never came back and going on 10K miles. At 100k and the glow plug tips were in bad shape but now it all
      Good.

      @@lasvegasrottweilersvomprei8589 Remove your fuel filter and look for brass metal shavings. They will be tiny. I replaced various sensors including the MAP&T with no results. It was pretty nasty though. The lift pump in the fuel tank starts to shred itself and those brass metal shavings get caught in the fuel tank pressure sensor giving whacky data to the computer(I think). Now it may make the truck run richer, the would explain the high soot on the MAP&T sensor, but also I am not an expert and also know the MAP&T sensors are known for sooting up in the first place. The truck I worked on was not deleted.
      All this being said, I replaced the entire fuel module (the lift pump and sending unit in the tank). GM calls it a fuel module and when I got mine, I paid 3x the cost and GM had none in the country. Big backordered part and it may still be that way.
      4 Months later, No P026D or engine light.
      Also clean the tank thoroughly from brass metal shavings as these diesels have fuel return lines. I also flushed the lines per GMs TSB on the matter.
      Make sure no brass shavings get past your fuel filter. GM has a TSB on how to prevent that as well...
      Doing research on this code led me almost no where. Even TSBs just call for a fuel system flush... I don't think GM wants a recall....
      It is unclear to me if GM acknowledged the problem with an updated fuel module or new manufacturer. Not sure. A fuel system flush may fix the problem temporarily, but if the pump is shredding brass, that didn't sit well with me. Just replaced it all.
      As stated, this is what fixed it for me. I am no expert, but these things are very sensitive with fuel pressure and readings. Truck only had 90K miles as well.
      Replacing fuel filters often may help prevent this also, wish you luck!

    So you were checking the pigtail by probing into the front side of the ecm connector and nothing else? Right? Set on ohms? And just wiggle the harness and any fluctuation means the pigtail at the injector is bad?

    • @TechnicianRed
      @TechnicianRed  Год назад +1

      Yes. Except for fluctuations in the resistance doesn't guarantee its the injector connector. You could still have a broken wire or the ECM connector pin could be bad. You must never assume the problem is going to allways be the same as last time no matter how many times you see it. Allways try moving the harness at JUST the injector connector without moving the rest of the harness to get the resistance to change.
