The fact that you showed the rear roundel replacement process not going perfectly smooth is really the best part of this video. Very realistic demonstration.
And the rest of the video is awesome too, but I honestly salute you guys for the very honest, clear and realistic guide of how to tackle this.

Why not just reuse the rear grommet?
You definitely can. They dry out and get very hard. Also many come with new grommets.

Anyone know a good place to buy all black roundels for a 2016 328i?
Don't use metal/hard plastic tools around the BMW Roundels during removal. Add 2-3 layers of painters tape around the roundel before removal
- For the adhesive roundel use a heat gun or blow dryer, plus some fishing line. Goo Gone will help remove the adhesive.
- For the roundel secured with grommets, it is typically very very hard to remove. Use an old credit card or the thin plastic strap to force a small gap at 9 and 3 o'clock where the pins are. Then insert some fishing line around the two pins and very gently pull up both sides at once,. Once there is enough gap you can use your fingers (wear gloves).
- Use a very thin plastic trim tool (used to pop plastic rivets) with the end taped to remove the old grommets. Put some thin cardboard or old plastic credit card underneath the trim tool (to protect the paint). Use fresh grommets with the new BMW roundel.
- Some BMW roundel sets come with a tiny circular piece of clear film to protect the new BMW emblem from rock chips . You probably need to use a blow dryer to stretch the film over the concave roundel surface and raised letters (it is not flat).
His way worked perfect why make this comment?
If it does not work, most people will go to town with metal tools and destroy your paint. I put a gash in my paint under the front roundel when using a screwdriver. No metal tools.....
@@amkkoo9184 Because using metal tools on painted surfaces will, more than likely, damage them. FCP Euro is a leader in BMW parts and they know better than to instruct users to do something that can damage their vehicles. It takes literally no more effort to inform people to use plastic/vinyl pry tools to pull emblems and there is a LOT less change of anyone damaging their property.
Nice wish I would have watched this before replacing my trunk roundel I ordered through you a few weeks ago for my Z4. Nearly stabbed myself in the face using a tiny flat head LOL.
Correction stabbed myself in the nose, small gash some blood. Sad to admit it
@@alexs1429 it’s ok 😔
As of May 2022, BMW is releasing 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundels.
We better hide them from JR...
I literately took my rear one off with my fingers…
I can’t get the plastic “anchors” out! Any suggesting. Or just keep picking on them. I didn’t have that tool u had but would that be the only way ? It’s 2007 BMW Z4
Stupid Question,I ordered all My EMBLEMS which came inn.Its it advisable to reuse Hood/Trunk Grommets when replacing with New Hood/Trunk Emblems? Thanks bud
you can do it just keep checking it every few miles at first. the prooer advice, however, is to use new grommets
Great video. But what about replacing a worn Roundel on the steering wheel/airbag?
If you use a heat gun it makes quick work out of removing the old gunk. Really makes it a breeze.
finnaly someone who does it correct i use dental foss and pull .leave the grommets in there fine
Good presentation! Just replaced the rear logo on my 2007 335i following your instructions. ☺️
for the rear, the easiest way is to take a clay bar, get as much surface area to stick on then wiggle it to remove
Is the installation of the rear trunk lid emblem any different for an f-15? Thanks
Hi Gary, the idea remains the same.
How is this 8minutes long jesus
Hi. Great Vids are you going to do a Vid on the E90 Vanos System .Keep the good work up.
If you have a 128i the trunk emblem is glued AND fastened.Just found that out. What a pain.

What bmw emblem is that I have been looking everywhere for that exact one? Because I have 2 holes as well ?
Jacob, enter your model on FCPEuro.com to see what we have available for your car!
You should sell custom painted emblems (chrome edges of genuine emblems painted gloss black or black chrome etc), like IND Distrubution sells for different models. Looks nice but I don't think they are too known and perhaps hard to get right as a DIY (the paintjob that is). Probably worthwhile though if you are replacing the emblems anyway.
yeh i need a new airbag badge how do i do it .
Goo gone helps
I recently bought front badge for my G30 and it didn’t come with new grommet!! Is it ok to reuse old grommet? Thank you
Thank you finished in 5 mins
Speeeeeedy!
Can you use a heat gun to remove the double sided tape ?
Hi Michele, that would work as well!
Dear Sir, I purchased a 228i, 2016, it has a Black BMW, could you please tell me why is car has this type of emblem!
For godsake use a heat gun
Cranking videos out, love it
Plenty more queued up!
This task must involve at least one swear word. 😂
😂
Finally a propper video👍🏻
Awesome presentation and talk through, GREATLY appreciated! Looking forward to getting after my swap out with a LOT less reservation 😵💫
How many millimeters is there for the front emblem and the rear emblem for a 2010 328i extradrive four doors sedan could you help me please
Just leave the Alcohol on a soaked rag on the glue! It will loosen it and make your job a lot easier. 🤨
What is a soaked rag ?
🤦🏼♂️
I have a 2018 X1 bought new from the factory. Some fool (in a parking lot) blacked out my front roundel with black silicon (no clue why). Bought the correct replacement for my model and watched this video, and others, repeatedly. The new part arrived, I taped the area and attempted the cargo strap technique and the dental floss technique. The roundel didn't seem to have a seam anywhere. I then drilled a 3/32 hole into the ruined roundel and hand screwed a 1" drywall screw into the opening. When the screw bottomed out....the roundel just worked its way up the screw, pulling free...allowing me to grab it with pliers and remove it. The issue was that, at the factory, they had put a bead of silicone around the circumference. As for the grommet removal...I threaded a #12 sheet metal screw into the old grommet...pulled it loose with pliers.
i got scared when i saw the video was 8 minutes
Why is it so hard to find a black one. I ordered the one I wanted but when I removed the front emblem it didn’t match the one I had purchased I thought they all had the ones that use two grommets. This one is different, how do I go about finding the one I want?
My guy absolutely ruined those grommets haha also very risky using metal tools around the paint
Awesome thank you.
You're welcome!
The colorful emblem is gone and what is left is solid black with BMQ logo..........no grommets. Was the emblem only partially removed? Two parts? Also, someone said they fall off?? I thought mine was stolen.
Hi Rose, often times they can delaminate, so it sounds like the backing plate is all that is left on yours.
Why not use 3m adhesive remover?
Had to improvise- just used my nails and cardboard and worked perfectly. Thanks for the tutorial
💅
This worked great for both badges best method I’ve seen thank you
would that work the the 2000 528 i series or are they different
Hi Ben, the idea will be the same for your E39!
Well done! Thanks a million! 😎
What was wrong with those emblems
Nothing really JDSOFAR, just wanted to make this simple DIY as we had a spare set of Emblems hanging around the shop!
Nice
Does BMW sell genuine black and white style hood emblems like Mercedes-Benz?
Excellent video
Thanks for the visit!
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Love you guys!
we love you too!
Hey do you use regular alcohol to remove the access glue? Please let me know!
