I’m an Asian male and to set the record straight, I am usually very fond of black people. My best friend in elementary, middle and high school was black. I think black women are very attractive and I have no ill will towards black ppl in general. It is a little hurtful though when a black comedian makes blanket statements about an entire race under the guise of a joke. Especially when you present your “joke” as a universal fact when it’s merely just your opinion. I would think that black people in particular, would be able to emphatize with an ethnicity that is so under represented in America.

I think as a comedian an offensive joke has to be good enough that everyone gets it, but at a time when Asian men are just starting to get major roles and fighting against the type casting of the nerdy unattractive Asian man, it just comes off as a cheap, tired jab at the Asian community. it was not only offensive, it wasn't even funny. As an Asian, I take more offense from the statement that "Steve Harvey is a smart man".
I don't like it how they let it go so easily. If you think of it, write it down, and preplan to make such comments on national television means that you truly feel it. He's a racist, but somehow it's ok bc it isn't a white person insulting a black person on television; therefore, it's quickly dismissed. My family and I served this country bc we're a part of it and there's plenty of asian families that are active members of the community like us. We fly the American flag proudly, but it's sad to know that the low stereotypes about us is still a laughing matter. Steve Harvey probably thinks Asians are less human than he is, thus he thinks we are undesirable (especially the men).
