Was really surprised by my 1/2" Mid-Torque. Took off everything I put it on yesterday. Busted nuts and bolts loose on my tractors, bulldozer, and big truck no sweat. Big, rusty, and been on for decades.
I have the 3/8 and 1/2 mid torque and I’ve noticed that the 3/8 can struggle sometimes not due to power but just the loss due to the smaller size of the socket drive. The gen 1 both have the same power but the 1/2 will break things loose that the 3/8 won’t. The 3/8 drive can feel like it’s “bouncing” or flexing where the 1/2 don’t.
If you put the 48-11-1880, 8.0 battery on that mid-torque it will bust that crank bolt off. Worked like a dream on my Toyota 3.4 crank. Also busted off the axle nut on an old '66 VW beetle. Those were ALWAYS a PITA!
I got the gen 2 mid torque and barely find myself using it as I also have the m12 brushed 3/8 (from inflator kit) that works really well for most diy engine repairs. Mid torque good for lugs and suspension work.
Anyone else sitting here laughing about the engines being taken out of time? Some poor unknowing person is going to throw one of these in a car, turn the key and need another engine! Lol. Many German cars are friction set at the crank pulley for the timing gear. They don't have a keyway. You loosen the bolt and your valve timing is way off without a proper timing jig. The tool review is great and thats what matters to me! Thank you!
Good video. If you want rusted on fasteners you should see what we have to contend with in the UK! I'd like to see how this would do on Gen 1 Mini front damper pinch bolts.
I got the Gen 2 today at Rural King for $179. Retail price is $199 minus $20 off on any bare tool over $150 and got it for the $179.99 plus you can also get the new sawzall for $158. These are early and Black Friday sales. I hope this helps somebody.
Yeah man you will see a lot more difference from the compact if you use a 5.0 AH battery. My guess is that the compact is fine with a 3.0 but the mid torque’s potential is limited by the 3.0
Worked on Honda’s for many years and unless you had a specialty socket made for crank bolts (they help hit harder) even the high torque 1/2” would only loosen maybe 1 out of 5. Those things are tight!!!
@@able_trucking780 junkyard ones, that see rain and shit outside, not a motor on a running car, thats where rust will get deeep in the threads and seize shit
I was surprised it didn’t take it off. The CP 3.0 fits perfect to keep it lightweight. I’m not gonna lie I was disappointed anyways I still got mine lol
El jefe , m5 in the yard what kind of junk yard is that lol great review. I just got the gen1 mid torque, still brand new, might just sell it and get me this gen2
Who really uses this thing in any other mode than mode 3? I want every bit of power it has every time I use it. Just feather the trigger if you don't want all the power.
Deep well sockets increase the impact's torque, fyi. They have more mass, which is the reason. That's why specialized crank sockets are massive and heavy.
I'd keep it on 3 for loosening. 2 for tightening. Can't imagine why you would want all that gun for mode 1. Go get the makita XDT16 if you're looking for or mode control. With that mid.. Loosen with 3.. if it doesn't back it out.. try going forward, then back again.
why are you limiting the impact with that 3AH battery? it does good with the 5AH but shines with the 8AH. i bet you that if you would use the other batteries that i mentioned you would be able to get the bolts off of the crank
Na .. used 3ah 21700 ... And used 6ah 21700 .. thats about max not guna use 12ah on it .. the differences grom 3ah 21700 and 6ah 21700 are tiny .. if using a 2ah 18650 vs 6ah 21700 then be a difference.. but still not guna change any results here ..
@@bassheadlife492 oh ok thanks but mine just moves in and out not even a half inch it don’t affect the function of the tool does yours do that if you pull and push on the anvil?
Serious question. Can anyone explain to me why some of these techs use FapOff guns? I understand the hand tools, but other than their ratcheting impact, I see no justifiable reason to go for them over Milwaukee or any of the bigger brands.
I think for the price, I'd still go with the brushless German Metabo LTX 400. 20$ less than the mid torque and basically the same size. If you picked up that 99$ Metabo angle grinder deal a few years ago with the two 5.2ah batteries you'd be good to go.

Good video bad battery choice . Those tools deserve a retry with real power behind it even a 6.0 ho would really bring them to life . Please a second video
Try removing a rear wheel bearing bolt on an Audi - 1500 ft lb/s can't even shift those ( i know, i have tried until the battery ran flat)....they can only be broken with an absurdly long breaker bar and even then half the time you have to heat the bolt up with a torch to stand a chance.

Those compacts WILL remove those crank bolts. Those were the wrong sockets. Crank bolts call for extra thick-walled sockets.

You need a 5.0 or larger battery on that beast bro! It will be night and day

That 3.0 is high output and is same output as 5.0

Just keep in mind, mode 3 in a compact can bust out over 350 torqued nuts, even 400 torqued nuts. So mode 2 on this mid torque is equal to that.
Love the junk yard bro!!!

You need a bigger battery for the mid torque and the compact the 8.0 AH will make your compact and mid torque impact more powerful.
I enjoyed this bossman thanks 👍

Wonder if it would have more butt with the 6.0 8.0 or the 12.0 batteries?? I know my stubby has more power with the 6.0 m12 vs the 2.0 and 3.0
My m12 stubby is a beast But I did get the mid torque just in case. I also only use 6.0 for more power. Also I only use it for automotive purposes.

I think you would’ve had better results with those crankbolts if you had a stronger battery pack for the mid-torque.

maybe if it was a half inch too? One test showed half in compacts were weaker than the 3/8 dno if it was a fluke or what

If you were going to buy one gun for your first electric gun going from air, would you go with the compact or mid?
Depends on what ur doing with it
Definitely go mid torque
I would pass on the 1/2” compact and go straight to the midsized 1/2”. Then maybe a 3/8 compact, if needed.
Deep well sockets increase the impact's torque, fyi. They have more mass, which is the reason. That's why specialized crank sockets are massive and heavy.
Opposite actually.
Also deep sockets put more force than shallow sockets.
