- i uploaded the first fred compilation over a year ago, a self-indulgent video that i genuinely didn’t think that anyone other than myself would enjoy. little did i know that fred enjoyers are out there, and boy are they plentiful!!! you’re all awesome!!!
i know that due to the recent scrapped projects at wb and The Show That Will Not Be Named, the state of the scooby franchise seems a little bleak right now. i was delighted to know that people were using my previous fred videos as a reminder of the real heart and charm in previous incarnations of fred/the franchise as a whole, and i was so glad that they went on to serve that purpose. so that’s why i’ve returned with even more fred, and i really hope you enjoy this video just as much.
thank you so much to the people on tumblr and my youtube community tab who suggested clips for me to add to this one!! the scooby franchise is extensive and my memory is decidedly not, so it was great to remember some fun moments that had escaped me. sources are as follows!

I love Fred, despite the Mindy's attempted character assassination he remains one of the most wholesome characters put to screen
Even in Velma Fred is probably the most sympathetic of the main group given that most of his negative traits come from his crappy parents
@@nathanblackburn1193 Not even just that. Fred's bad qualities aren't from a place of selfishness or malice like literally everyone else in the show. His bad qualities are because he's dumb ans that's far more relatable than the rest of the cast who are terrible people.

@@serenegenerally I wouldn't even say he's that pathetic, Norville is pathetic. Fred is a product of everyone else's wrong doings so you can't really fault him for his short comings. Yes he can't feed or dress himself but as the show goes on he tries to do things on his own, and it's everyone else trying to take away his agency in the decisions he makes. Despite that towards the end of the show he is most like the character he's based off, he's always been a himbo, while not always good intentioned he's never malicious about anything, Fred recognized his shortcomings as a person as did his best to change with what knowledge he had. He is the only character whose growth goes beyond "Oh I'm in love with Velma now." He grows as a person, making him leaps and bounds better then any of the other horrible characters in this show.

Watching these clips helps me see that Fred was leader because he was the motivator behind most of what the gang got up to. He might not have the best ideas, but he was always the one that got the ball rolling. I can't see Velma or Daphne choosing to stop at every creepy place they find to get to the bottom of a mystery on their own.
you're so right about that!! he's got the passion and motivation, and knows exactly how to divide the mystery-solving work so that it benefits his friends' unique skills. he's the man with the plan, and the glue that holds the group together!

I’ve always fully accepted the autistic genius interpretations of Fred. It seems so intuitive to the chaotic and often nonsensical way he thinks. He’s a real out of the box thinker.

I just wanna say how much I love that Mystery Inc Fred is somehow both the goofiest the character has ever been and objectively the coolest. I mean, he frickin jumped from a moving van onto an airplane taking flight, kept it from crashing and killing his friends/himself, AND punched the baddie's lights out. Wow. Nice catch, Daphne

I love that over the past few years Fred has gone from everyone's least favourite Scooby Doo character to the most beloved.
It's more so that old Fred from the original Scooby Doo kinda fell into that "he's the leader" and so he didn't have much going for him besides that, but later on-- especially after red shirt Shaggy and whatnot, when Fred and Velma returned, Fred becomes some unpredictable wild card where he simultaneously the most competent and incompetent person while somehow never being out of character in either scenario lol.
@@AugesteinAgreed. I also think since he was such a blank slate, writers could honestly do whatever they wanted with him without worrying about contradicting established character traits.
Making him cheerful and overly optimistic whenever team morale is low? Sure, why not. Writing him as huge fan of Elvis music and Cowboy aesthetics? Go right ahead. Give him an obsession with traps to an almost hyper focused level and have it become a recurrent gag? Of course, who’s gonna tell them otherwise.
It just makes me really happy that when the writers were presented the chance to do literally whatever they wanted with a character, they used the opportunity to just make the most wholesome bean ever
okay, I didn't realize just how freaking hilarious Fred actually was. He made me laugh out loud. My favorite part was him telling Velma to roll up the window really REALLY fast after he left the car in water, and the fact that he fully believed that would work killed me.
I think Fred is a fan, nerd, expert, and lover of traps. And I don’t blame him, I like him that way.

Fred was always underrated. In the original series every time Velma figured it out she knew not to bother with Daphnie, Shaggy or Scooby. But Fred was right there at the solution with her.
The Joker and Penguin one was legitimately funny.

Fred is just so special. I can’t express it maybe as well as the other folks, but OUGH! He’s so sweet and kind and so charmingly obsessed with traps. I think his unabashed passion for everything he loves makes him all the more fantastic too! Just the biggest sweetheart truly. Can’t get enough of this guy!
Fred's my favorite of the original 5 Scooby-Doo characters. Also, I love that you included the scene where Fred rolls over Joker and Penguin, because the two 1970s Batman crossovers are my two favorite Scooby-Doo episodes.
The Velma series hate is the reason of the resurgence of my Scooby Doo love, and in consecuence, this videos are the reason of my Fred obsession, I love it
The best thing and only good thing to come from the Velma series is everyone has a newfound appreciation for Fred.

@@twist_ending7545 you would be surprised how common it is. Some voice actors take on a huge amount of roles... Like here Fred pretended to be Scooby. And in something like Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds you have Leo pretending to be Luna... And both are the same voice actress but Leo imitates how Luna sounds

Considering how long frank welker has been at it, fred might really live forever,
I literally cannot understand how the disaster happened, the mans himbo energy's so strong that even people who never watched the show KNOWS when his identity's being slayed
I maintain that not even "Velma" could completely erase Fred's good nature. As season 1 went on, Fred was shown to see that women were awesome and deserving of respect and he tried to show it, even if his attempts were cringeworthy. He is probably the only character who had a sort of character arc among that version of the Mystery gang.

Well, to be fair, all of Mystery Inc. are iconic but Fred is just such a wholesome little weirdo and absolute himbo which instantly makes him the best character lol. I will never understand how people can watch Scooby-Doo and think that Fred is boring, or even worse how anyone (Mindy and her team) can think that he's an arrogant douchebag/man-child. Despite the attempts at character assassination, or others simply not understanding his character, I still love him. Here's hoping we can get some proper Scooby-Doo content some time soon, and have a return to form for our boi and the rest of the gang!! ❤
