I am totally agree with you. they are real genius and deserved more attentions. rhythm, variation melodies and oh my god such a nice vocal, it is a pity not to hear more from them :(
Been waiting to see Rishloo on this channel. They're a rare entity that gets better with every album. Says a lot because their first album is amazing. Their song Landmines has a final 2 minutes that still blows me away every time I listen to it.
@@LeeGion_981 I can't possibly take an educated guess there are too many factors that I don't know. Creative people gotta create. Whether or not it's under a particular band name is anyone's guess. I'd be shocked If we didn't hear more from the band members in some capacity if you look hard enough.
I find myself going back to Eidolon and Feathergun a little bit more, but you can't go wrong with either of their latest 3 albums. They're also super consistent. No filler tracks, no disappointments.
It still blows my mind how little attention this band gets. I've been in love with them for about 5 or 6 years now, since my lsd/ mushroom phase in college. Even barring that background though it's pretty clear that they put a lot of soul into their music and gods damnit it shows. This whole album is a series of intertwined gems. Super happy that they got back together after the breakup.
Didn’t realize they’d broken up? I just assumed they were on hiatus especially since David had a baby not too long ago?? I wish they’d put out new material though I still live & own physical copies of their albums (CD’s) 🤘🏻🖤
Oh hey, I've been jamming their most recent album lately. I really love the energy they have, it gives me a lot of the vibes that The Mars Volta gives me, not that they're too similar
Rishloo's vocalist sings very similar to Leprous' singer Einar Solberg, and the melody changes are reminiscent of A Perfect Circle's style. I love this song
Usually people are comparing Drew's vocals to Maynard's, but Leprous? Highly disagree. Leprous for me is Agent Fresco in a different font. Much softer and less theatrical than Rishloo. I'd say Fair to Midland has the same vibe or Karnivool.
I've always thought the vocalist of this band sounded like Maynard haha. Glad you got around to this, hopefully one day you'll be able to check out Karnivool who are pretty similar.
You GOTTA listen to the album "living as ghosts with buildings as teeth" by them! This album seriously only contains great songs... Or, from an earlier album, the water is fine.
You could pick just about any track off their last 3 albums. I have not yet seen reactions for: Alchemy Alice, To Tame the Temporal Shrew, Omega, River of Glass, Katsushika, Diamond Eyes, Weevil Bride, Just a Ride. I agree that Landmines is 🔥. Can't go wrong there.
Hi great video and analysis!!! I just met Rishloo this week and they blew my mind. They get an excellent balance between grunge and metal music. I loved it
Feathergun (the album) has been a huge influence in my life and I owe a lot to this band. Thanks for the analysis and for giving these guys the attention they deserve. I would love to see a reaction to Lucid Planet. Their newest album 'II' is an absolute masterpiece. Mind bending in the best possible way. Definitely a must for fans of Rishloo, Tool, Pink Floyd etc.
Fantastic band and song! They're definetly much more prog than grunge but I can see the relation. Maybe we could call them "alt-prog" 😊 (Btw, enjoy the humming with the outro - presence 😊)
I’ve never heard of this critic or this band before and I’m so glad I stumbled across this randomly. Great band! Love that song! As I was listening I caught a bit of a Tool vibe (mostly in the vocal line choices) at various points throughout the song so I got a kick out of him saying it reminded him of A Perfect Circle, Maynards other band.Going to iTunes immediately to get this!
Introducing people to their new favorite bands is one of the highlights of this channel. My community can be quite eclectic and have their fingers on the pulse. I've been told to check out some killer bands on the fringe of pop culture; for instance I've listened to some stuff with less than 5,000 listens on Spotify. Maybe stick around if you're on the hunt for new music to discover :)
This song gives me the shivers throughout it’s entirety. An awesome experience every time. The only complaint I have is that the lyrics don’t seem to make sense. I really want to know what they feel so passionately about with such urgency.
One common theme this week is I don't expect I'll have heard of any of these bands, but we're two for two on great tracks so far. This is definitely right up my alley. Really good, solid prog metal. Will definitely be checking out more from these guys. To me, this is less like Thank You Scientist and closer to something like Fates Warning. TYS are more playful in how they mix genres/styles and display more virtuosity; but Fates Warning is another prog metal band that has this similar level of passion and emotion in their music. Grunge was actually early 90s: Nirvana's Nevermind and Pearl Jam's Ten both came out in '91. Grunge basically grew out of 80s alternative rock, bands like Pixies and The Replacements, and eventually evolved in the rest of 90s alternative rock. One way to think of Grunge is just alternative rock that came out of Seattle. It tended to be a bit darker/heavier than most of the other alt. rock out there at the time.
@@CriticalReactions I was always more into Soundgarden and Alice in Chains than Nirvana and Pearl Jam. It's also always irked me that Nirvana basically stole most of their sound/style from Pixies but got all the credit. Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are both, IMO, vastly superior to Nevermind.
I can certainly understand that. We probably should do a grunge week because I don't think I know much of the genre. I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana, hearing only their popular radio tracks, I don't know Soundgarden, I've never thought of Alice in Chains as Grunge but I've only heard Man in the Box and Rooster, and Pixies I only know of them because of a Papa Roach cover of theirs (which I don't think I've heard the original). So yeah, I know of the mainstream grunge stuff but nothing past that.
@@CriticalReactions One interesting thing about grunge is that the influences of all the bands were pretty diverse: Nirvana were coming from the 80s alt rock/punk bands; Pearl Jam were mostly drawing on 60s/70s classic rock; AIC were a fusion of hard rock and metal; and Soundgarden was like Black Sabbath meets psychedelic music... yet somehow they came out of the same city at the same time. I'm sure my preference for Soundgarden and AIC is mostly due to my preference for hard rock/metal to start with. If we do get a grunge weeks, AIC's Them Bones would be a great track as it maybe the best riff ever written in 7/8.
This got recommended to me after putting on some Spotify Mars Volta radio, and I absolutely love this track. Any fans here know of other songs of theirs I should check out? This really reminds me of Tool/Perfect Circle at the 2:26 mark. That's a good thing.
I wish I could but I've listened to the entire Fight With Tools album. It's a gorgeous work of art. But I haven't heard any other Flobots. Do you have any other suggestions from them?
These guys do not get the attention they deserve. Super stoked to see you hear this one.
I am totally agree with you. they are real genius and deserved more attentions. rhythm, variation melodies and oh my god such a nice vocal, it is a pity not to hear more from them :(
Here we go! I was personally blown away by this band. Every song is a catch.
I wish I could listen to the rest of their stuff but this song has been living rent free in my head the whole week

Their song Landmines has a final 2 minutes that still blows me away every time I listen to it.
I just can't get over Landmines. I just want to scream my heart out every time. It's. Just. So. Good.
Love Landmines, that wholealbum is a one of a kind experience, but Dark Charade takes the cake for me.
Glad you managed to get round to this band. Personally I find their newest album to be their masterpiece.
Yes! absolutely their masterpiece. It’s been 8 years. Do you reckon they will release another album?

Fucking love Rishloo

'Landmines' by them is 🔥
Karnivool - Deadman is as well. 🤘
anything by karnivool really tbh
Anything in Sound Awake.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees the similarities in the vocalist.
I always thought Andrew sounds more like Freddie Mercury ☺️🖤
no expectations, then you definitely won't be disappointed, since the song's excellent.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see about getting more of them on the channel.
@@CriticalReactions Bump for another Rishloo reaction. Really any song will do.
So happy to see this band on your channel. One of my favorite prog shows.
This song never lets you get settle and comfy, always keeping on the edge. Amazing record over all.
Been waiting forever to hear you react to these guys. Glad you enjoyed them!
Thanks again for introducing me to yet another awesome new band.

I recommended this like a year ago. Glad to see you finally got to it.
Most underrated band right here, they are so fucking good
The section at 4:20 is one of my favorite sections that I found this year
I discovered this band with this reaction. Thanks a lot, it is really a gem ! :D !
4:16 is VERY MARS VOLTA lmao :D Love Rishloo, amazing band :) Vocals definetely reminds Maynard.
Glad to see these guys finally getting some attention
I love this album
Definitely listen to Downhill
This album cover screams 2009 for some reason
Fantastic band and song!
They're definetly much more prog than grunge but I can see the relation. Maybe we could call them "alt-prog" 😊

I saw someone else mention prog-grunge but I can totally see the alt-prog too.
I think they have a slight shoegaze sound too 🖤

PLEASE! Do one to Sissorlips or River of Glass or Landmines, truly amazing band.
They sounded like 32leaves and 10 yrs. With tool and apc vibe
Grunge? Well, They are from Seattle, but I’d say they’re like prog-grunge. One of those weird bands that everything is good.
I can get behind "prog-grunge," since that combines their overall sound with some of the more complex musical aspects.

I tend to think of Grunge as "does this sound like Nirvana?" Probably not a perfect system but it tends to be accurate a majority of the time 😅

Landmines is a must from them
Keeping to this all to myself. call me selfish but i dont care XD
can you do flobots-handlebars?
I wish I could but I've listened to the entire Fight With Tools album. It's a gorgeous work of art. But I haven't heard any other Flobots. Do you have any other suggestions from them?
Xiu Xiu - Ian Curtis Wishlist
Check out Karnivool - C.O.T.E, you won't be disappointed.
That's a lot of tissue and lotion.. perhaps you have a cold and are ashy?
Tool
sounds like tool
Bryan did mention A Perfect Circle. Still I don't think they're that similar to either - obvious influence though.
