Lovely Nikki 💕☺️💕 thank you for your kind words 🥰 I absolutely agree, and feel the same about watching your channel…your colour and project choices are always right up my street! Watching you treadle your spinning wheel in this episode was incredibly relaxing; I’m looking forward to following along as you explore all those different breeds 🐑 And your FOs/WIPs were beautiful as always. I’m so glad you’ve settled into your new place and everyone is enjoying the space. Your garden looks like it’s a haven for wildlife (& nature loving humans!) 👌 Thanks for your company x
Thanks for the kind words dear Ailie and for tuning in. I'm glad you found some moments of relaxation and I can't wait for your next inspirational podcast episode 🤗💕
Oh how I love your new place to do your podcast from, really beautiful😍. Understand what you mean about your Lunenburg, love your choice of colors as usual😍😍. It turned out so nice and your Bolan is stunning on you🥰. It's so much fun to come along on your spinning journey. It already looks so good🤩. Now I'll skip ahead to your next episode😍💞
So nice to catch up Nikki. Glad you all are settling in to the new house. The stockings are lovely, won’t that be a nice first Christmas in the new home memory!🧶Cher
Congratulations on your new place and not least the spinning wheel. The trees and the light in the backdrop suit you. Your lunenburg is just beautiful, now I want to make one too 🙂
So nice to see you and catch up Nikki! The joy of being in your new space can be felt through the screen. I also live next to a highway, and when the wind is blowing in a certain direction (NW) it is soOo loud, but thankfully when the wind is neutral or not blowing this direction it is fairly peaceful. Regarding your makes!! I LOVE your stockings and your spinning is fabulous. I have yet to knit with my handspun and I really want to start. Thanks for the episode... give Fluffy the beast a couple extra peanuts for me.
Your thumbnail grabbed my attention immediately- what a gorgeous sweater! I'm making Joe Batts Arm, my first Jennifer Beale design and a challenge. It took me a week to get an acceptable swatch, but after finishing the first sleeve I finally feel confident about the pattern. It will be a multi-month project, for certain.
Your Lunenberg sweater ist so beautyful...I want to knit a Lunenberg this Winter, its such a lovley pattern...and your Christmas stockings are amazing...❤
Thank you for the shoutout! Your yard is beautiful. It feels like you're talking to us from some enchanted forest. A sweater spin is also a goal I'm aiming for. Maybe next Tour de Fleece. I can't wait to see your blended heatered fibre. Those fibres are stunning in their own right, but should combine so well.
I’m so happy for you that you are living in the country, have more space and lots of critters! When we moved to the country one of the first things we noticed was that it was noisier than we expected lol. Especially in the summer. We got used to it and absolutely love living here. I would have a hard time living in town again! Also, blue jays are such a joy. I love them so much. I buy them large bags of peanuts at No Frills. Congrats, Nikki! You seem overjoyed! ❤
Happy to see a new video! I have some catching up to do too, so yay! Your new house seems really cool - I love chipmunks. My MIL started giving them grapes and now they expect a grape every day.
nice to see you again at your new home...love the location and the background...your knits are beautiful and I especially love the stockings...thanks for thinking of me lol...cant wait to see the loot that baby will hold this christmas :0 love your spinning journey as well
Great to see you! I'm excited that you have so much nature around, and more house space 😃 I totally relate as our cottage is 600 sq foot and we can't fit a full couch in living/kitchen room either. We have moved our bedroom to the tiniest bedroom, so the bigger can be my craft room 😂 so I approve of your plans. Lol 🤗🤗🤗
If you want to do another Lunenburg sweater, I would love to join a knit-along. I seemed to miss the boat when there were a number of those when the pattern was released, and would love to tuck into one of those. It would be my first knit along! LOL Such a beauty of a pattern. Yours is gorgeous!
Thank-you for the kind words and the suggestion for the KAL! I've just ordered yarn for an Agnes Kofta so perhaps a more general colouwork KAL may suffice 🤗
I love your Lunenburg, and would love to knit one someday. I say "yes" to making the quilt by hand! I've been a handquilter since I was 19, and a longarm quilter for 20yrs now. I'm known for my needleturn applique. There's something very meditative about the craft...just like knitting! I look forward to the next knitalong. Lately I've become aware of a scrappy knitted blanket again...The Beekeepers Quilt...I think I'll give it a try 🤔
Yay! I'm glad to hear you enjoy handquilting! I think you may be the first person to actually encourage my plan 😂 I too have been seeing a revival of the Beekeeper's Quilt all over Instagram lately. It's such a pretty pattern and I've had it in my favourites forever. I was actually looking at yarn options the other day but then told myself to be good and finish the other 2 blankets I have in the works 🙈 So I will live vcariously through you in the meantime 🤗 For the next KAL I think I'm leaning towards a general colourwork KAL (I may have just ordered yarn for the Agnes Kofta 🤣).
We have 7 cats.for the same reason you have 5. They do well together for the most part. we had a few behaviour issues with them, but pheromone plug-ins and collars for 2 of the cats have done wonders. Only one still pees where he shouldn't. We are working on that yet. So hopefully it will get better for him.
I haven’t used a blending board but a word of warning for putting in colours with spinning: by the time you put a tiny amount of colour in and then combine with another ply, the colours can get lost and you can end up with mud. So you may try a bigger pop than you think you want. I was looking for the nerdy by nature account and couldn’t find it? Congratulations again on your new home. 400sq ft and a finished basement makes a world of difference!
Thanks very much for the tip! I will definitely have to play around some to ensure I get the desired outcome 🤞 So sorry about the Instagram account, it is actually @nerdyaboutnature. Enjoy 🤗
Excited for you and your wheel spinning journey! I've never used a blending board before, except during a class, but it should be possible to blend your fibre batt with your handdyed combed top on a blending board, and create rolags from it. My thoughts about it would be to a) practice spinning long-draw from rolags first, because it's quite a different technique to spinning worsted from combed top, and b) make some small samples when you start blending your fibres, because I suspect you might only need a little bit of the dyed top to "heather up" the shetland fiber.
Thank-you so much for all the wonderful suggestions! I will definitely follow your advice and practice before diving in. I think you're right about needing only a little bit of colour to mix into the shetland. I have a feeling consistancy may be tricky, but here's hoping it all works out 🤞☺️
Maybe the chipmunk stole your notebook? 😂 How special that the Christmas Stockings will be used for the first time in your new home ❤ Hurray spinning wheel!!! So I hope you'll plan to join the Sock Spin-a-Long 2025 🙂
Beautiful Lunenburg! I love that yoke and have also thought about making another. I’m still planning to cast on Marie Walllin’s Yell. I finally have the yarn ready to go. How do you feel about yours? I can’t remember if you made mods - I’ll have to go back through your podcasts. I also love Fiber Trek. She has a Yell on the go too. Wishing you great joy in your new home ❤
Thanks Julie 🤗 I have not yet cast on my Yell as I was having some gauge issues between the Holst Supersoft and Jamieson's Spindrift I was planning on using. So it's been on the backburner but very much on my mind, especially when I see Sarah's WIP 🤗 Looking forward to seeing your version! 💕
When you make top down circular yoke, sweaters, have you considered making a smaller size and then doing short rows for the bust darts to increase around your body? I think this will alleviate the big arms. The only issue is you would not want to do color work in the bust area so the yoke would be a “shorter” color design (like the one you just finished).
I love the Folklore Ruffle Top, along with the embroidery you've done. Maybe it just needs a time out before you make the decision to change the embroidery....fresh eyes and all. That works for me sometimes.
Lovely Nikki 💕☺️💕 thank you for your kind words 🥰 I absolutely agree, and feel the same about watching your channel…your colour and project choices are always right up my street!

Lovely to catch up with you Nikki in your new place 😊 Your colourwork sweater is stunning 😍 Looking forward to seeing your craft room tour.
Thanks so much sweet Sylvia 🤗💕
So nice to catch up Nikki. Glad you all are settling in to the new house. The stockings are lovely, won’t that be a nice first Christmas in the new home memory!🧶Cher

Love the stockings , they’re so lovely! And the sweater too! It’s a lovely first little spun skein ❤
Thanks so much for the kind words Gwen 🤗💕

Thank-you for the kind words dear Inger 🤗 Highly recommend knitting a Lunenburg--so much fun (at least the yoke part is 😂). Hope you are doing well ❤️
Gorgeous Lunenburg. I love that wool! I’m knitting with it for a shawl. All your projects are beautiful!!
Thanks so much Carla! Which shawl are you making and in which gorgeous colourway?
@@KnittingWithCatHair Artus in the original colourway. Maybe half way now but my needle is too short! Is huge ☺️
Beautiful! I'm not typically a shawl-knitter but that pattern/colour palette totally caught my eye 😍

Thank-you so much for the kind words Gabriela 🤗 I look forward to seeing your version of the Lunenburg! 💕
Beautiful Lunenberg, it has been in my favorites for a while. Hope the peace lasts among the kitties!
Thanks Leslie! It's a very fun pattern 🤗

Thanks for confirming!
