    I just found your channel. I work in the non-profit rhealm here in vermont. It's unbelievable what's going on. The average working person, also seniors, are being priced out. Not to mention the lower income persons. With landlords being able to raise rents as high as they wish , whenever they wish, homelessness is being promoted. We need legislation that caps how much a landlord can raise a rent per year. We should be ashamed that our leaders are perpetuating homelessness by allowing this. We need legislation to stop these massive rent increases for those that are not yet homeless. Homelessness is not the only issue as you explain, it comes with many other issues that need to be addressed, a roof is not enough. You say you worked in the healthcare rhealm, do you know that the university of vermont hospital is putting homeless people that are ill and need care out on the street ? Ive had seniors that can barely walk come in that still have a hospital gown on in the freezing cold with no where to go.

      Well said! Having a place to sleep and live is basic human right and for sure raising rents to an amount that pushes the worker bee out is obvious and in my opinion intended. We all need to start speaking up, taking appropriate action where we can, petitions, writing to Gov Office, sharing on social media, etc. This is out of control.

      Vermont is a democrat state - and the democrat party is anti-Americans. There is no hope for Vermont, as long as you guys keep voting progressives.

      @ginah8023 5 месяцев назад

      @jennexxer that would ruin someone's rental reference and involve law enforcement against the squatter. I have seen it done. Why in the world would someone want to squat on the property of a greedy landlord. Remember in vermont the city and the judges side with the landlords 99% of the time. A paying tenant should not haveto fight to assure safe affordable housing.

    • @vermontthisthat117

      @@jennexxer I think people are so worn out from trying to figure out how to get by day to day, their are not many squatters, they are sleeping in the streets as 'hunger' now becomes the issue, its hand in hand.

      I think its by design by neglect, inaction. We see and need to stand up where and when we can. During the Great Depression families lived together all paying their share, all contributing, working. Now we have so many families stressed, broken, and even if they group together they can't meet the demand of high rents. Its a crime in my opinion, out right crime. There is no extra money to save, most are in the negative.

      Thank-you for sharing my friend. It truly is out of control! The Gov. needs to step down if he can't speak up and do what's right on this which is putting measures in place to cap increases so they are reasonable. We as a society have to look out for each other more then ever. And yes, food goes right along with the housing issue. For more of a food supply for you call the Vt Food Bank and apply over the phone and set it up so you are getting more food...
      This is the number:CSFP, VERMONT FOOD BANK-1-800-214-4648 and the EMAIL is:csfp@vtfoodbank.org.
      These landlords should seriously be ashamed of themselves. God Bless you my friend. I hope this helps a bit.

    I live in the NH seacoast... Vermont and Maine are incredibly-INCREDIBLY- unaffordable considering the lack of jobs and what employers pay in those 2 states. At least in southern NH you/we can work in Boston or Massachusetts- which is like night and day in terms of employment opportunities and pay rate. NH is horrendous at this point as well. The rent in the seacoast has actually crossed the threshold where landlords are now having their overpriced rentals sitting for weeks/months. But I hear Burlington VT is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find a rental in, much less an affordable one. This was an informative, saddening, and sobering video-

    Amen! How do you expect to help us, when we dont help ourselves. Stand up for our people , and stop worring about being nice. I dont understand why, you are being loyal to a party who isnt loyal to you? The importance is to be nice, while give everything to themselves, while living in mansions . Dont you know we are paying them? Why dont you the realize the propaganda you are listening to on the media is to get you to continue to vote for them and they can keep their life style. 🎉 you need to think about that. They have divided families, friends, etc: Do you think God wants us to fight amongst ourselves, we all need to choose God!! Get our family and friends having food , shelter , hope, love. We all need to unite!! Open a empty hall, school, together , bring food blankets, and start there. It has to start as a community. And you!! Please. Try!! I hate to see people suffer with addictions, no shelter, food. Give them love , dignity and most of all HOPE!! ❤

      Good question! The churches used to provide over night shelter. I remember exactly when they closed the doors on that. It started about 30+ years ago when some churches were vandalized during the night, they started locking the doors. The people who needed the shelter were not the ones who committed the crime, but they are the ones who paid for it.
